Unboxing and first power up of the Taramps 100A Smart Charger. I bought this off of their Ebay account which is straight from Brazil. Let's check it out.
I don't get it. What is this meant to charge? a car battery? You lift the battery out of the car? It's shaped like something that mounts in the car. Normally I trickle charge at 20 degrees F, not 100/130 amps. On their ebay page, it talks about a sound system, but who has 110v in their car? Wouldn't the alternator charge the car battery? Thanks for the video. Liked and subscribed.
It is meant to take 110v or 220v (whichever part of the world you live in) and turn the AC power into DC power which allows you to either directly power car amplifiers off of this unit OR it can charge/maintain large battery banks. This can be used in a house or garage. Or it can be used in these large demo rigs that sit in the parking lot at car audio shows to help supplement electricity for the battery banks without the vehicle being running. They simply plug multiple units into AC outlets to charge their batteries while playing their system all day. In my case I am going to use it to keep my 160aH SCiB bank topped off in between amplifier testing sessions. With the 100 amperes of output to the battery bank it drastically reduces waiting time for the battery to return to the starting voltage after the testing is complete. Hope this helps and thanks for watching!
I use 2/0 to 4 awg adapters on my power supply. Nice power supply I have 2 of them
The reducers fit nicely and this power supply definitely delivers the power it says plus some!
