This show is based on a series of books written by Julia Quinn, which I read years ago, and loved. Yes, the cast is a rainbow, and while inaccurate to the century, it became irrelevant as the story and characters are really good. Give it a chance.
lol, ah yes, the modern era, where real history offends people, so we make up lies and fantasies instead to please a social movement. I mean, if they want to be diverse and include black people, why not make movies and tv shows about actual african culture? African historical figures (because slavery was only a small part of african history), african myths and legends, and cool real historical characters...but nope, they will just insert black people into random places where they did not actually exist historically because that is what the SJW crowd wants. Re-writing history one movie at a time. Its funny actually, by trying to placate black people, they are really just insulting them. Its like, all that suffering black people went through during slavery, well guess what, we will just pretend it didnt' exist and make it all go away. The children can grow up watching movies where bad things never happened and real history is what we want it to be. Frankly that is a society that gives me the chills. Cultures that forget their real history end up repeating it somewhere down the line.
But it's a good diversity not that forced diversity from the people. Besides black people should appreciate the old classics of the 17th century to the 18th century a little bit more.

If we rightfully demand for black representation in period dramas and are tired of seeing black people cast only as slaves in movies, why can't we have a tv series based on actual historical black characters? Africa is literally a cauldron of beautiful myths, incredible legends, amazing real historical characters, actual kings and queens who did great things in their life and MADE history (also, many possibilities and great fun for costume departments, both for historical dramas and epic/fantasy/adventure movies) and yet we use none of these. I would LOVE to have a series that shows me something real about black history. Instead, we randomly insert black characters where they weren't even allowed to exist: this totally negates what black and brown people went through in Europe, America and every European colony around the world during the 18th and 19th centuries. Georgian, Regency and Victorian society WERE NOT inclusive and it's insulting to even try to deny that, it's insulting to the people who actually suffered during that periods. Rewriting history is pointless and dangerous.
The people who suffered in that time period are literally ALL dead therefor cannot be insulted. Go find something else to be a social justice warrior about dummy
I totally agree that we should have shows about the fascinating mythology and history of historical Africa because 'black history' isn't just black actors being shoved into the European colonial past. and bridgerton wasn't great because it tried to act like the blackness of the characters was part of history and that a black family would have been able to thrive in the regency era, which is dangerous because it rewrites a part of history that people should really feel shameful about . however, if bridgerton hadn't done this and the casting had genuinely been colourblind without pretending that black people would have been accepted in London at that time, then I think that the show would be absolutely fine. I mean, it's engaging and it's funny and why should black actors be barred from these challenging and witty and well written roles, simply because historically it wouldn't have been possible. to deny this would actually be incredibly un-progressive, and would just be disempowering black actors by denying them fun roles in successful TV shows
There were no dragons or white walkers in history yet I never hear complaints about Game of Thrones. Racists are mad that Black people get to be heroes and royals in fiction too. Let them cry
Well Game of Thrones/a Song of ice and fire takes place in westeros while this Takes place in a really clearly defined timeperiod in England, so there is a difference
I disagree. Bridgerton's Queen is a historical figure whose real name was Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz. She definitely wasn't biracial and doesn't ressemble the actress playing her.
This is not Magical Realism, the language, dress, mores are all Regency, problem is it distorts the reality of that period for a woke agenda. Black people as lords and dukes in Victorian era England ?? This diversity thing is going places we've never been
lol, ah yes, the modern era, where real history offends people, so we make up lies and fantasies instead to please a social movement.

Thus, you reap what you sow
You've had wakanda.... Now please be quiet.

@@orezi1328 good grief calm down. It’s an easy way to explain the plot to someone unfamiliar with the books or show. Geez.
@@TheReevesy2012 It’s the easiest way to explain it honestly lol.
The great pretenders developed their love for each other, so cute and I like their chemistry. Simon is handsome and very masculine and Daphne is gorgeous and very feminine. Love 'em both.
Hi Sarah, this movie was super interesting. The chemistry between they was great… how are you and your family doing today?
This is not a period piece but a fantasy piece.
So why not give them smart phones and access to the internet? How about dragons? It's all fantasy, so everything goes right?
@@kullenberg i mean why not lol. Like u said, your imagination is the limit.
There is some orcs but it's no fantasy.

Is this real historical show or is this just another sjw trash in the name of diversity crap?
Me!!
@@mjparadero7046 no its a modern book that was made a couple years ago, its not historically accurate because it has nothing to do with real history at all, they just based it in that era but in a diverse era
@@todoroki3781 lmao okay

It wasn’t until I watched the show that I realized how beautiful the main character really is she looks like an actual angel
Hi Mariah, this movie was super interesting. The chemistry between they was great… how are you and your family doing today?
