The chorus is all I managed to remember of this song I had no idea who's tune it was till it was played on radio 2. Sara cox show then I had it. It was mini ripperton.
I really love this cover, I just wish they had given credit to my father as well. He produced, wrote and arranged this beautiful piece. But we love Minnie always!!
@@tnijoo5109 Hi, his name was Charles Stepney and he was really important in producing some of the great black artists in jazz, RnB etc in the 1960’s and 70’s. I knew of him through the group Earth, Wind and Fire before finding out in this comment section that he produced this outstanding piece of music too. He died quite young if I remember correctly. Mr Stepney left a long list of great music and it’s a shame his name isn’t better known! I wish you a great day 😊 Ian
I saw a cinema advert featuring this song mid nineties. Could not figure out the artist. By chance I had been looking up Minnie discography and forked out for the album. Suspected nothing and it played on my mind. Only played it a couple of times without paying much attention. 6 months later grabbed some discs for a road trip. Got to the first corner, looking at my partner, pointing at the car stereo.
I love the fact that you all are so deeply into the music - this is such a beautiful, positive song and your performance is likewise. And your performance is magical. You have captured the proverbial lightning in a bottle from the least likely of circumstances. I think that makes Glasshouse officially amazing. 100%.
Its wonderful to see all the amazing artists come together to make this gem. When I was a kid and heard it on the radio,, I had to imagine what the orchestra looked like behind Minnie's voice. Now I know, What a beautiful world when we work together.
Completely agree with Jeffrey below, crushed it. I'm a big fan of covers, covers that expand, personalize, add a heartbeat. I love this rendition, well done.
Your guys are all amazing! This is stunning! The time it must’ve taken with the arrangement! And your talent is outstanding! Can’t stop listening! Please do more! Bought me to tears! Thanks so much for this all of u x
Actually, this was originally written by Charles Stepney, the famed record producer, arranger, songwriter, musician and producer of the original Earth Wind & Fire original group. It first appeared on Ramsey Lewis' 1968 album "Maiden Voyage". A year later, in 1969, Minnie Riperton covered it, with lyrics by her future husband, Richard Rudolph, on her debut studio album "Come into My Garden". Ramsey Lewis has offered it since in a number of iterations on his various albums. This song's arrangement foretold the future sound and attituded of the experimental Soul/Rock group, "Rotary Connection", in which Minnie Riperton was a mainstay.
the LATE GREAT Charles Stepney, composed a masterpiece...Charles Stepney discovered Minnie Ripperton here in both of their hometown, Chicago. he wrote, arranged and produced Minnie's FIRST album. COME TO MY GARDEN/back 1970... back in the 70's, as a music arranger, and music producer, Charles took EW&F music to another level. among other artists. Charles Stepney had a heart attack in his Chicago home. and died a few days later, back in May of 1976. the man's musical genius was equal to another Chicagoan, Quincy Jones.
Absolutely gorgeous. I've heard only a few cover versions of Les Fleurs. All very good. But THIS. Stunning. I've been proselytizing for Minnie, Rotary Connection, and their brilliant producer Charles Stepney since first encountering the albums in the mid-1970s. It's wonderful that young people now are embracing these stunning songs, and performing them with such understanding and soul. Thank you.
This is absolutely PHENOMENAL! I applaud all of you to the *nth degree. I never saw this back then, but I feel all of your passion in my soul. I distinctly remember this day and the despair we all felt during that apocalyptic time in world and U.S. History. I wish I could be part of your group! If you ever need a back- up 1st Soprano, hit me up!
No matter what version of this song I hear I always get chills when that chorus kicks in

Every time without fail 🤯
