    This is the best, hottest, rockingest, most energizing group I've seen on earth so far. They are in the Rhiannon Giddens level, a very special energy.

    Another one, could not stop smiling. Wonderful tune, fantastic band. Molly seems to bring joy to everyone she plays with and for. Already set new height by winning best guitarist, first woman. One of the best of the best. I hope God continues to bless this lovely Lady.

    The melody is very close to John Brown's Body. What great playing. I love old timey music and try to play it on banjo.

    • @crabbyoldman8209
      @crabbyoldman8209 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Steve Goldfield I do believe it is a redux of John Brown's Dream, but as I remember from my playing days, there were lots of tunes that were given new arrangements and became almost a new tune or song. I like the general idea of giving songs new life that way. Nobody stops playing the old forms, so it's not as if they're being replaced, and this kind of update hopefully will keep the old tunes and songs in the rotation. And I just like the creativity involved in taking something traditional and reshaping it into something new - especially when it's this kind of quality.

    Can we just call this "John Brown's Dream" & be done?

    • @sing-alongwithkevinm2462

      In the same tune family as John Brown’s Dream

    • @sing-alongwithkevinm2462
      @sing-alongwithkevinm2462 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The tune family is a common a popular one in the Blue Ridge Mountains, where it probably originated but has since been disseminated. Hobart Smith, of Saltville, Va., also played the tune on the banjo. Tommy Jarrell, of Mt. Airy, North Carolina, suggested that "John Brown's Dream," which he learned from his father, fiddler Ben Jarrell, was derived from "Pretty Little Miss."

      @@sing-alongwithkevinm2462 Yeah, I know that & so do the Goodbye Girls. It was a choice to avoid a political hot button.
      Just call it "John Brown's Dream" & let the idiots go away.
