    I'm from Austin Texas. I've been going to 2-stepping places a fair amount, but last weekend, I went to Mavericks where for the first time I saw Country Swing and West Coast Swing. An entire next level from 2 stepping. Can't wait to learn these dances!

      I want to go. Did you got to the one in Pflugerville or Buda?

    • @ATXMatt
      @ATXMatt ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@juliehernandez80 Buda, since it's close to San Marcos, it's a younger crowd with shall we say more traditional values.

      @@ATXMatt I’ve passed by it and it looks so nice compared to Pflugerville location. Do you mean traditional Texas State student young? Country spots usually attract all ages.

    Man didn't know all these styles. Lol just recently been going to a country bar and see people doing all these styles and I just get embarrassed being a drunk dummy. Litterly everyone knows what their doing then I try and just get stared at

      There was a couple at the end of the night that started to try to help some one and me. Lol but I couldn't get the 2 step thing down though it seems soooo easy

    My wife and I really want to start dancing more often. Do you have any tips on how to dance when the follower is taller than the lead?

    • @countrydancex
      @countrydancex  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hi there. The best tip we could give in this format is to definitely manage your spacing. When there is a height difference, it is important than you stay close to each other. It's more difficult to turn under the arm when you're farther away :-)

    Is country swing a lot like cumbia?

    My country bar does quick quick slow instead of quick quick slow slow for two step and I can’t find any videos showing those steps- is there a specific name for doing it that way?

      Hi there! We actually moved from Nashville to Houston but have family there and visit several times per year. We do plan to do some workshops there again this summer :-)

    i just found a new dance partner and he tells me i need to learn to follow. any tips?

    • @susankeller67
      @susankeller67 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Personally, I've found to close my eyes and "feel" what my partner is asking me to do. I recommend trying this a lot prior to going out on the dance floor. Your lead has to be very good at leading, though, or it gets sloppy and frustrating real quick. Best of luck.

    I've been looking to learn this type of dancing but i live in the UK does anyone know what it's called in uk

    • @countrydancex
      @countrydancex  ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s still the same there :-) There are a few country dance groups. Maybe look for country line dancing first. You may find some couples dancers mixed in.

    • @julsmarie53
      @julsmarie53 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@countrydancex I think line dancing is for singles dancing in lines, country dancing is what they do in scotland. I used to live in USA in 1976 and we used to call it the hustle. I think in the UK Salsa is the closest i'm going to get. Thankyou for the reply. Happy dancing
