I really enjoyed programs like this thank you for uploading this on TH-cam. First time I heard Philip Marlowe was on my car XM Satellite Radio station classics radio Really enjoyed it I so glad I was able find it here on TH-cam
Parley Bear (who plays the blabber box) played Mayor Stoner on The Andy Griffith Show and Chester on the radio version of Gunsmoke. He a has appeared together with Howard McNear on other shows like Suspense. Howard played Floyd the barber on Andy Griffith and 'Doc' on Gunsmoke.
But it's not Van Heflin playing Marlowel I's GERALD MOHR -- a very good actor seen often in the early days of TV, but never a "Big Star." His voice was perfect for the part of Marlowe -- better than Heflin's to tell the truth.

Great story
Great post. Thanks :)
Who needs tv, radio is better. Other than Bogart, Mohr is the best. The BBC series of the 70s is completely unbelievable.

He also looked perfect for the part. Too bad he never got the chance to play him in the movies or on television.
Van Heflin did play Marlowe for the pilot didn't he?
