  • From the long running radio series starring Dick Powell, this is, "The Jewel Thief."
    Richard Diamond was a great radio drama/detective series. It ran for several years and was later adapted for TV (with David Janssen in the lead role).
    This episode originally aired on February 19, 1950.

    Radio can really tell a story, paint a picture in your mind. Listen to radio with my mom in the 50's., Now I'm 73, Alone with covid19 destroying the world, radio is the best thing now.

      I used to listen with my grandpa on his floor model radio in the 50s. Wonderful memories. By the way I like the name. Lol

    This episode was written by Blake Edwards who became a famous Hollywood movie director. The Pink Panther movies, for instance, among many others.

    At the time, the series appeared on NBC's Sunday afternoon schedule at 5pm(et)- opposite Mutual's "THE SHADOW".
    28:09- "THE AMERICAN ALBUM OF FAMILIAR MUSIC", 9:30pm(et);
    "TAKE IT OR LEAVE IT" {"THE $64 QUESTION"}, 10pm(et)
    Blake Edwards also created the show as well, 'starmountainkid'.

    Diamond gets smacked upside of the head so many times throughout the series... once I think he got knocked out like 5 times in one show [wth?] it's a wonder the poor bugger can even walk let alone talk in a straight sentence LMAO!! Go Diamond the invincible!

    I know that these transcriptions are edited. Some of the cuts are mid word, thereby changing the meaning of the dialog or confusing the issue. Just one example can be heard at 1:20 on the time line where his customary slogan gag is obliterated. Why?

      I don’t think it’s a cut at 1:20 - I think he is saying, “hap... py homicide!” Similar to the great Tim Curry’s delivery of anticip...pation.
