  • I'm an American that teaches English in France. This video is a tour of my town, Saint-Dizier. While it's no Paris, there are many unique small towns all throughout France just like this!

    ✦ I created this blog and channel living in France to provide you with everything you’d need to explore the world as a 20-something girl, and NO you don’t need a boyfriend or big budget!
    ✦ When I’m on a trip, I’m the kind of girl that takes a tour to learn the tales of a city’s unique history. I seek special experiences to understand the place’s culture. But if we’re being honest, I’m NOT leaving without a selfie for IG. You get me? Join me on my journey, and I'd love to hear about yours too!

    At precisely 3:09 in the video I have a picture we recently discovered of my Dad, Sgt. Cletus C. Moore, U.S. Army, standing in almost the exact spot you are standing (perhaps 4 feet to your right, same distance out). He's holding a bicycle. Between him and the monument is a wrought iron fence about 5 feet beyond him and between him and the monument. The fence appears to surround the monument. From the views in your video the fence is obviously gone now. The pic of Dad was probably taken in early October '44 or so. Thanks for this video.

    Dear Hailey, as i happen to have a McCormick tractor and noticed that you are living in Saint Dizier, i wonder what is still remaining of the "International Harvester" plant/factory or as a "memorial" or anything. Would you be so kind to mention if there is anything there? Greatly appreciated if you could :). Update: The company YTO stopped fabrication (probably), but it's located here: Chemin du Clos Saint-Jean, 52100 Saint-Dizier. Even if nothing from IH is visible, perhaps it's located nearby in a museum or something? I really would love to check it out if it was worthwhile.

    • @planetochampagne
      @planetochampagne  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmmm. I'm not too familiar with any of this. That location is definitely out of the center of town, so I never made it over there. The museum in town doesn't mention anything about this either. I'm so sorry I wasn't more help!

    Haha I lived there for a short time in the 90's, and made part of my military service in St Dizier Air base as well. Vert Bois is the bad suburb of St Dizier, and honestly this small city sucks, except for Lac du Der Chantecoq which is pretty close.
    If you go to cities around better go to Troyes, Metz, Nancy, Dijon or Reims.

    • @planetochampagne
      @planetochampagne  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes it was definitely very small, but I made the best of it! I agree Nancy and Reims are great.
