Although Fred McDowell is a delta blues singer-songwriter it has been suggested that he is more a north hill country blues artist.
Closer, more genuine to the african roots.

This piece of blues music is devastatingly beautiful,
Listen closely to his 'talking' guitar. It sounds like percussion, bass, rhythm and solo guitar in harmony with the vocals.
Fred has inspired the Stones on their album Sticky Fingers (1971) with their version of this very song.
