  • Visitors to Panama City Beach, Florida in the 20th century had a great selection of Mom&Pop motels to chose from. Many were directly on the gulf shore. This video explores some old rarely seen motels and includes some wonderful interior shots...it will make you want to book a room in the summer of 1962.

Between the ages of about 3 and 8, 1969 through 1974, my family stayed at the Suntan Motel. My older brother and I enjoyed the pool and playing shuffle board. The motel was a block or two from the beach.

The picture of the rectangular pool with a set of stairs going up to the second story looks like the "Don Ron" on Thomas Drive. We stayed there every Labor Day weekend during early 60's until it closed for the building of the Regency Towers." I still love and miss that hotel. It was named after the owners twin sons.

Back in the 60s, my parents always stayed at the Long Beach Resort. It was awesome. Me and my brother were in walking distance from alot of things. Petticoat Junction, batting cages, putt putt. We hung out at the beach till 1 go do stuff and hung in the pool at night. Great times!!!

Great video Kenny Redd. I loved Panama City Beach back in the 80s when I moved there the best. It has changed a lot since then. It will always be home and I'll always love it. When my military 🪖 time is over I am moving back and not leaving until I am in a pine box lol.
