In watching Leonard's pure childlike love and enthusiasm I can't help but think how PLEASED Jesus would be to walk through Salvation Mountain. He would have a huge smile on His face at the creativity and dedication of this man over so many years to share the message that "God is Love" and Jesus died for sinners. Thank God that Leonard kept the message simple!

Biblically and in reality, Jesus is IN him (and all who believe) so Jesus IS walking through Salvation Mountain all day every day and has a huge smile on his face and is loving it. Colossians 1:27, John 17. I just love Leonard's simplicity - he's got the fire! :)

I remember being taken to see the mountain when I was just 9 years old. I didn't understand why someone would commit their life to such a simply task of painting a mountain and plaster Jesus and the Bible everywhere. Even to this day, I still can't get a grip on it. I'm in awe. Regardless of your religious beliefs, you can't deny the fact that this is a beautiful example of human creativity, commitment, and shear love. I feel happy knowing that I got to meet Leonard.

This is great. Beautifully shot, no editorializing from Vice, no dumb "music" (hate that stuff), just the artist explaining his art. Last February I randomly decided to make the drive out (2 hours from San Diego) and it was one of the best decisions I made that month. As far as I'm concerned, the Jesus and God stuff is just code for other stuff.

Don't get why so many people care about other people's views on God. That's them and what they believe. If you don't believe in God that's your business, as for me I do believe in God and I believe Jesus died for our sins, he is our savior, but that's just me. I don't try and force others to feel like I do because who am I to judge. But to atheists, please don't judge me or anyone else who does not believe like you do. Don't try to shove the "God is not real" talk down our throat. For people hating on this man and I don't understand why, let him believe what he wants. I never will understand why people make such huge deals with other people's beliefs, it's not like they are hurting you. He is about love. We all need to spread love, not hate. RIP Leonard Knight. Much love to everyone!

Despite being in the middle of nowhere this place is sooo much fun to visit, along with the squatter town (Slab City) next door and the natural hot springs.

I didn’t know this was a real guy . I thought he was probably just in the movie Into the wild . This is awesome, I’m glad he’s a real fella and loving his life .

I first heard of this mountain when I watched the film "Into the Wild". Have never heard or seen it again since then.

I've been meaning to make the three hour drive to the middle of nowhere to see this thing for awhile and check out Bombay Beach while I'm there.

I love the message of this man. Truly an inspiration. I think everybody owes to themselves to visit this amazing work of art (along with some other beautiful sights in Slab City).

Bio? Not much Bio in the middle of the badlands. And it's art, art needs it's space.

There's something about this this guy that's just so inspiring. Believe in god or not, you just somehow help but like what he's doing. The idea of Keeping love simple is definetly something the world needs more of. I only wish more people had ideologies like this.

I actually like this guy, I'm not really a christian, but just the general Idea of spreading Love and keeping Love Simple is Awesome the World needs more of it.

I agree. I see nothing wrong with this sort of lifestyle. What about the people who dictate countries and kill thousands of humans? They are the ones who are mentally ill. This guy is just grounded and very real with himself. He manifests the life he aspires. Like all of us wish to do when we grow up.
