- Today we installed the Ford Performance (Warn) winch on my 2021 F250 Tremor. The instructions we great and were 26 pages long. The rest of the pages are in French.
Took a little over 4 hours (while filming) with 2 people and was a moderate install. If you have the right tools and some basic well rounded automotive knowledge this install should go fairly simple.

Been waiting on this video since the unboxing. I got the instructions as well and was impressed. Didn't expect them to be very clear. Your video filled in a few questions I had. Thanks much! Probably won't be getting to my install until the first week of Feb. Looking forward to the Carli install. I'm eyeing up the PinTop system for my 2021 Tremor.

Installing a winch on 12th gen trucks with the grill and hood connected is the cleanest and easiest install of all...looks factory and needs just a mounting plate bolted with tow hook bolts keeping hooks in place. Yours is looking very nice, thanks.

Ordered a new 350 not 4x4, in December, build date is February 1, today I tried to add this to the build and they said no. But they didn’t say that it is a dealership installed item. This winch looks like a good insurance foe non 4 wheel drive. I’ll order this and install myself, thanks for the video.
Cool deal man. Just make sure the frame cross member has the bolt holes for the winch bracket. Not sure if 2WD trucks have it. It’s a great back up for a 2WD for sure. Keep me posted! Cheers

Another great video. I've been shutting away from this For winch. There was either a video or an article from someone that needed to repair or replace something on the winch and Warn couldn't help because it was a ford thing and ford couldn't help because it was a warn thing. I wonder if a warn zeon platinum 12k would fit in there on that bracket.
Interesting… I have had some bad experience with dealer service departments as well. I’m sure that is where the issue was. Ford dealers seem to deny before they approve anything these days.
not sure if it would fit. The brackets it comes with and how it mounts is very custom and tight fitting.

Thanks. Ya, not cheap. Of course I found the winch and mount combo for $2,200 after I installed it! Check around and see what deals you may find. The brackets it comes with to mount are custom but I’m sure the winch mounting points are the same. Would need to make sure all the other size specs would be similar too. It’s a darn tight fit… thanks for posting.
Ford states this only will fit 2020 and up. Is the 2019 that much different? Ford also states this only can be had with 7.3 and 6.7 not 6.2. I would love to install this on a 2019 CCLB 6.2 with dual batteries, 240amp alt. and snow plow prep. Any thoughts?
Thanks for commenting. My thoughts (not fact) are that the cross member frame that hosts the brackets for the winch are not pre punched and/or drilled. Also, oil/trans coolers may be in the way. Hard to say without comparing them side by side. Hope this help Luke. Cheers
I looked at my 2019 KR with 6.7 and can confirm the cross member is not drilled and the trans cooler is in the way. These might be able to be swapped over to the Tremor setup. Otherwise this kit looks like it would work. Trans cooler being the biggest issue.
Do they have that will fit on a 17 F350? Haven't found one yet...
Not that I know of. I believe the reason it does not “fit” is because the frame was not prepped for the mounting holes. They did that (holes) on the mid model refresh frame. That’s my guess. Other then the frame missing the mounting bracket holes, I bet it would fit like a glove..
Where can I find the extended trim panel to fill that driver side gap?

Need more protection from deer strikes for me, which is why my 22 F-250 Tremor will be getting an aftermarket bumper (that a winch will fit inside).
I hear ya, I could use one myself but I just hate the weight it adds and can’t find one that I like… which bumper you looking at?

@@tcr2237 thank you, I did as well I just wanted to make sure I get the exact one that looks exactly like the factory because I’ve seen other models and it confused me I have a 2022 king ranch tremor.
Did you need to upgrade your alternator ?
@@hay829 no prob man! I didn’t. I have a diesel and it comes with the largest alt. And two batts. They say you need two batts is you have a gasser.
I have used it to pull construction equipment out of the mud, my truck stuck in a snow bank and a tractor (semi) out of the mud. Semi has no trailer obviously!!!

Thanks buddy. Ya…. About that… still have it right above the winch. Have not re-located it. Will keep ya posted. As of now, I can route it under the hood, or in the grill. Cons: under hood requires opening it every time and in the grill, you see it… I keep my truck in my shop so I don’t need it right now.
I need a Folding license plate bracket I have same truck. Any advice?

Thanks! Ya, that trim piece comes stock on trucks with adaptive cruse control. I’m not sure the part number but Ford parts could assist. This link will really help.

Haha, ya, not cheap… you can find them for less if you search consistently. Another tuber said he saw them for $2300. I found one being sold but a dealer for $2700.

Good video buddy. Just a suggestion, superduties especially diesels are supposed to be lifted by the radius arms, keeps your lift centered and distributes load equally

Whats the plastic aftermarket cover?
My truck doesn’t have the lane keep assist sensor so the plastic cover would cover up more of the Warn metal bracket on the right side of the winch (where the sensor would re-attach after installing). Just dresses it up a bit more. I wasn’t and still not too worried about it.

I pulled this truck off the lot so didn’t get the opportunity to custom build my truck. So I Bought the winch at the dealer for $2800. Ya… 😬 not cheap… fits like a glove though.

I saw on ford performance that they say you need the dual heavy duty alternator?
Yup, that’s what they say. I think it will still work without. Just will hit the single battery hard. But I believe Ford is referring to the dual battery with The 380amp alternator. All diesels come with that and is an option for the gas motors.
Maybe replace the stock single battery with a yellow top Ultima… my 2 cents. Cheers!
Both batteries with a powerstroke? Why is it every time I’ve tried building the truck with the powerstroke and select two batteries, it makes me get rid of the powerstroke for the 7.3…. Ford site will not let me have two batteries with the 6.7
From what I have heard. The power stokes have always came with 2 batteries to crank that engine over. So if you add the PS then you don’t need to op for the 2 batt. Option. I believe The alt. Is also upgraded to the 397 amps… at least my window sticker doesn’t show I payed extra for it

I heard it’s a darn good chance it will. Haven’t seen it yet but I think the 2020 and above will work as the cross member frame should have the winch bracket bolt holes in place.

Great question. This was an install video, once I level out the truck (so it won’t rub) I plan on testing it. Don’t know if I want to Purposely get the truck stuck but I have some good areas to test it where it won’t make it up in 2WD. Will be fun.
In all their wisdom Ford did not really that some states require a front license plate. They have provided no place to put on one ! I could of put a fold down type bracket that would of allowed me to have a plate and just fold it down when I needed the winch.
Ya, I did t see anything in the install manual for a front plate relocation. I guess your idea of a fold down type would work nicely
Ford has a relocation bracket. Just found it. Sits right below the Winch nicely.

A couple years since you did this vid but my 2 cents worth. My cruise control and pre collision alert don’t work because the bracket that holds them bent without a side pull. Dealer can’t fix and none of this is warranty even though it was ordered. I hate not having cruise control , a year now. I suggest not installing this winch, if you like cruise control.
Man, that’s a bummer. My truck doesn’t have the radar module/adaptive cruse, so no issue on mine but good info for the trucks that do. Hope you can find a dealer that can repair. They need to stand by their damn products.
