This reminds me of my childhood. Renting movies and watching them alone. Reading the backs of movie cases at the video store for hours.
I didn't have many friends going to school growing up. I was bullied a lot so I rented movies all the time until my highschool years. I rented and bought from four different video stores and they all knew me by name. I was the kid that rented every single horror film they had. Parents gave the green light, so I was allowed to even though I was under 18. They weren't legally supposed to unless an adult was with me but they broke that rule for me haha. It was right between the era of dvd and VHS. VHS was beginning to phase out. I miss being able to do that. Having Netflix and streaming services just isn't the same as the adventure of going to, spending time looking at literally every single VHS/dvd front and back covers then choosing five movies, for five nights for five dollars. Flipping through streaming platforms gives like 0.4% of that feeling. I am definitely checking this out. If the promoters for this film were smart, they'd rent out a storefront and make an actual video rental store with VHS and DVDs/blurays and rent this film out on all three formats.
Well said. Nostalgia is what is missing in this world. Going to get a movie or 5 was an event. Simpler times.
This film looks like a tribute to all the adults who were film buff kids. It's like looking myself in a mirror 😅
Couldn't wait to see Percy again. He is going to be the great actor of all time.
This makes me smile and feel so good about myself and my childhood
This kid describes me 100% when comes to movie life. I'm just thankful my wife is exactly the same. 😁
have you seen this movie yet? I hope you're not EXACTLY like this kid, because he turns out to be pretty selfish and petty
I mean it was understandable from his POV, he's a teen and have issues@@wethole
I can't find a place to rent this anywhere...
All the movie shelves in the store were found at an abandoned Blockbuster in Owen Sound Ontario which has the last abandoned Blockbuster building in Canada.
Dude I literally lived the same childhood life as Lawrence except that I never had a Matt in my life. I really connected to this movie a lot especially with the struggles financially.
It seems like forever before this film can be seen in wide release. PLEASE let us see this film!
Good news, It's out
@@badyearz Thanks so much, I can watch it now!
this is a really powerful film and stepping into whats its like
when someone says they like films being deep into films knowing that they are talking about not just watching them
hes a dreamer and what he could make would be worth watching
My grandma feel bad for Lawrence 😔
How fucking dare he. Shrek is ART
Shrek is love
What do you expect from someone who unironicaly watches SNL and adam sandler.
I have never cringed at a movie so hard in so long, holy fuck, and I’ve seen people who hate this movie because of it, this film is fantastic and definitely worth a watch, Lawrence, the main character sucks so hard, and you really feel for the side characters because of that, his boss Alana is genuinely the sweetest person, she’s so caring and empathetic, and she finds herself being vulnerable with Lawrence only for him to turn around and slap her in the face with it. it’s absolutely heartbreaking how he treats the people around him, and ive never hated a character more, which makes his arc incredibly satisfying, seeing him treat these people with the affection they deserve is so satisfying. A great watch, especially when you can relate to the title character a bit.
I appreciate your info and insight on the film. Where did you happen to watch it? (I cannot find access to it anywhere)
It looks fun! Can’t wait for it to release
I cant believe i actually want to see this. I must like movies too.
If they ever did a Sons of Anarchy prequel, Percy Hines White would make a great young Jax Teller.
So excited to see this
Seeing this trailer reminded me of when i was in a short film when i was younger... definitely adding to the watch list.
Let's be for real, we all came to watch this just because its Percy in there 😭💀
Так и есть
But didn’t do some bad stuff? 😭💀
you mean the abuser?
@@Eggu_ForYouhe was found innocent recently and the accusers admitted to lying

Anyone know what the song is called that features in the end credits? Sang by a female vocalist? Searching for it everywhere!!
This kid should be cast as gru if they ever decide on a live action of despicable me
i NEED this to come out already
Love percy
This looks very interesting. 🎥🎦🍿
i love how he changes really tuches mme i am not so nice myself
Percy ❤
You can just tell it will be good
This is just me, different Environment but same vibes, Moroccan Vibes. When I was 17 I used to watch lot of films too.
OK let’s say I have to work when this is being shown at the Hudson Film Festival. How do I see this?! Merci
That's beautiful
Cool 😎
I love lamp.
The fact that they actually have Canadian products that I buy on a regular basis is strangely weird to me
real, was not expecting the random Jones soda appearance
That's me 😢 no future but movies
Aldershot reppin!
My mother is buried there. Based on the trailer I think that I would rather go visit my mother's cemetery in Burlington than watch this movie. The cemetery is close to the foot long hot dog stand. I like good movies. I'll settle for foot long hot dogs if my choice is a bad movie.
I was expecting to turn this movie off 5 or 10 minutes in glad I didn't because this movie was actually really good. I really miss going to Blockbuster and spending a good half hr 40 minutes trying to decide which movies to get. Definitely worth watching 7/10
Wow a movie in 2 minutes
Where can I watch this movie????
Did you ever find a way to watch? (I am desperately on the hunt)
this will be my joker
I want to watch this!
did yall like it?
it’s lit
Andy Strucker! (My boi Percy)
SHREK IS REAL CINEMA BRO WTF!!! 🤣
He also watches SNL unironically. This kid has tastes that just don't mash. You can't enjoy goodfellas but then also think Adam Sandler is actually funny.
@@Nio744I love goodfellas and I unironically think Adam Sandler is funny.
@@pineapplejuice13 fine I'll let that one slide but just for the shrek line alone his opinion is invalid.
0:17 Yeah like Pompo the Cinephile. That is far superior to this and has a more fun girl character who helps new director who struggles to make a different music movie.
once again, lady bird for film nerds. this bouta be a movie, movie.
Chauncey Billups and MJ Kelley?
somehow I ended up here and I was not let down! a real indie movie? about movies lol where can I watch this? or buy?
why the 36 dislikes?
Loved this movie, super relatable
I agree and it was very funny
I Like Movies and I Love I Like Movies
WHERE. THE FUCK. IS THIS MOVIE?!?!?!?!?
In the trash bin where it belongs.
Netflix
I never wanted to punch a main character so much until I watched this, but I know that’s the point of the movie
You lack empathy 😢
@@mickd22 The director lacked empathy for viewers.
This looks too real I’m not gonna watch it till I’m older
YO THEY FILMED IN AJAX WTF
That kid is annoying.
So very minor spoiler for the film but this will probably surprise people.
The main character is one of the most insufferable and unlikable main characters Ive seen in recent years. I thought the main character was going to be like me, i love acting and filmmaking and I thought I'd relate to the character. He was a complete narcissist but I thought his arc was really good and I was satisfied with the ending. Definitely worth watching.
Yeah I felt the same way about Lawrence. I think his arc comes together in a very satisfying way
Ima be honest…this film seems insufferable. Maybe that’s the point, but goddamn this is too much for me
I couldn't finish this movie. The main character is so unlikeable, detestable, the audience won't care if he succeeds or fails. In fact, with all his awful behavior to his best friend and at work, you want him to fail. Common flaw of movies of this kind. They should study movies w/ loser characters but w/ redeeming/interesting characteristics w/c makes audience root for the characters, like 'Stand By Me' -- three kids who are losers but funny, loyal, friendly, great camaraderie, and hidden talents and courage.
I agree with you there, but the true art of such a bad detestable character is to make him be liked by the audience. Reason is that the character has to grow or have something that makes us identify with. And yes... it is completly missing here and he just seems to be mean, for the sake of it. I am finishing the movie though it's hard, because I felt like stoping the movie due to the unlikeable character.
by the end of the movie he is clearly less narsacicisitic i.e asking questions about others. Yes a generally horrible character, but let's not forget he's still a kid and has some pretty big trauma under his coat tail.
@@dotheboogieful As a writer, you shouldn't wait till the end of the movie for your audience to want to have empathy for your character. You'll lose them if you don't do it early enough. Case in point, Catcher in the Rye. Main character Holden is a loser but he's funny, witty, and seems decent and cares too much, and this is clear from the beginning. So you wanna keep reading and caring about him.
I've never understood people who think 'unlikable character = unlikable movie'. Do you not like any Scorsese movies?
@@wethole 'Goodfellas', 'Taxi Driver' -- they all had characters that had redeeming qualities that made you want to cheer for them. You can have a loser character but you need to add qualities that would make the audience want to cheer for them too. Example, 'Joker'. He was a loser but he was persistent, he was a force of nature, he dreamed big, and he was like us in the sense that we have our breaking point.
Most cinephile teens were cool in the early to mid aughts though. They generally weren't lame, borderline autistic kids like him.
She's too young. Pass
Okay this is playing at the Playhouse Cinema in Hamilton, Ontario. The story is fairly local. The script, performances and production values are......low. I'm only seeing this if the concessions are really discounted or the ticket price is close to zero.
this guy toured with yung lean once believe it or not
