This brought back a ton of memories. I remember when Gator came to my school in San Onofrein the early 90’s to do a demo. I still have a pair of trucks he gave me.
I see a few OG world industries boards hanging up in the museum, I have a couple JK industries reissues of Jeremy Klein's early 90s World industries boards, the Candybar/Veggie graphic and the Dream girl graphic both are in the original shapes and autographed by Jeremy Klein. All those Hook-ups boards hanging up are amazing! Obviously as a fan of Jeremy Klein I love Hook-ups lol
Awesome! Yeah, 80’s was THE decade for deck shape and art❤ Chin ramp forever! My decks in order: Roskopp 3, Gonz original, Guerrero, RipSaw, Gonz w/ the 2 faces, Blender dog, Templeton… then thrashed left ankle 😂 Now just cruise around the neighborhood with an ankle brace.
Amazing place! That animal chin board was so sick! I started skating in 89 so i'm more of a 90s skater but I do love and collect 80s boards and stickers etc as well. Love all the vision boards. And the 720! ♥
I've found a few OG world industries reissues from JK industries, they are all high quality hand screen printed and you can get them autographed by Jeremy Klein if you ask for it. I have Jeremy Klein's OG shaped Candybar graphic and the Dream girl graphic both signed by JK. Last summer at a yard sale I found an original world industries "cool devil" board from 1996 it looks very similar to the one you are talking about.
❤wow! "Animal chin" prop!!! Mint....Animal Chin was life changin ...1st "skate Vid" ever watched as kid (rented from a surf store)....lived & breathed skating after ...Bones Brigade were like Gods🤙... bought a copy of "Public Domain" tho & that VHS got watched literally minium once everyday .
Man I was just about to comment about how you didn't skate that but you didn't disappoint. Maybe some videos of you skating in the future would be cool too
hey whats up kuurt love the videos man im from cali but live in michigan i used to live in the high desert over the san gabriel mountins lived on highway 138 in pearblossom and on s-14 and r-12 in littlerock moved to micagin in 1988 im 45 will be 46 tommorw so i know a lot of places you show keep it up bro love the videos
Oh My God,...for anyone out there that ever lived in Durango Colorado in the late 80's or early 90's there is a Shred Shed Sticker (the only skate shop in town) on the matt Hensley Board @5:24.
I actually caught my 1st charges when I was 10 trying to burn down Jason Lee's families house that was being renovated. I was with older "friends" and it was over a broken board
That place is sick! Pretty sure that Chin monolith is an homage to the original. Still cool af though. I wouldn’t be surprised if this is the SkateLabs collection, hard to say. But I Kiiiinda remember seeing the same prop over there one time. I may be mistaken, my memory just autofills the gaps nowadays with similar but not necessarily related events. Olding….when I look in the bathroom mirror I think, “Seen Him? I May BE Him” at this point.
My first board was in 1986. Marty Jiminez Vision. Beautiful board. Then i switched to Santa Cruz & h Street boards. Corey obrien and John Shultes decks.
@@flukeDC4 I had the silver base with the fluorescent pink graphic. I picked it up at the skateboard shop at the riverside flea market. I think I had tracker trucks and OJs put on it.
@@flukeDC4 the oldschool boards have character. They all had a different board shape and concave. Unlike the double kicktail that all look identical made by all the company's besides the graphic. They just dont have character like the 80s decks.
I met Johnny Rad (from Animal Chin) years back at a show, such a cool guy. I was star struck. He still performs as Johnny Rad if you get a chance check him out.
for me there are a short list of iconic or at least memorable decks... from 80s 90s... mostly ones i saw in cheap skates and thrasher... i only was able buy a real pro model board once, and i let kid borrow and he thrashed so beyond use.. i wish i was able find again , but have hard time recall just what it was , cause when i went to shop to buy it, it was one i didnt intend buy but was so cool i got that one.. would have been around 91-93 time frame.. pretty sure powell peralta, i think maybe yellow men or figures on it..
Wow, there was a skate museum in San Luis Obispo as well, but unfortunately after/during C19 it closed down. Way smaller than this one but was still cool..
I used to skate with Jason Lee's cousin back in 89 and his cousin used to tell me to keep my eyes open because Jason was going to be a famous actor. I grew up skating in the Santa Clarita Valley in the late 80s and early 90s. I was a crappy skater though
You want a good pastrami sandwich, you gotta go to Rhineland deli in Thousand Oaks. I always the the hat was good and then I move to TO and found Rhineland deli then once I tried the hat again I was so disappointed.
there was a skull skates hackett street sickle on the wall. that was probably the worst board i ever had. it was low quality . i broke my ankle and then i broke my collar bone right after i healed from the ankle. the tail was not steep enough and the board had little concave. i see a lot of people saying "thats all i did when i was a kid and things like that, i have been telling people i started back after a long time off and i dont know why exactly i stopped but i shouldnt have. im glad i didnt waste anymore time without skating being a part of my life at 49. its rough its almost like learning from scratch but its coming around after 6 months. if you loved it then come back. you dont have to be serious. you arent expected to go pro. just come back for you. plus we didnt have concrete bowls everywhere no matter where you lived. dont waste any more time come back!
kurt: 2 words: u need to wear a helmet b4 u smash into the concrete... God forbid. we 40 yr olds are far too fragile to ignore safety precautions. even if we are from the 80's
Wow, that's a throwback. My first pro model was Caballero's Mechanical Dragon.I still skate (age 47)❤
WORD!
I grew up skating 80s 90s I love skateboarding so much. Thanks
This brought back a ton of memories. I remember when Gator came to my school in San Onofrein the early 90’s to do a demo. I still have a pair of trucks he gave me.
Todd is the man!
I lived as a kid and teen in Thousand Oaks and Simi Valley from 80 to 86 great times! my first board was an AGENT ORANGE
So sick! Thanks Kurt! Definitely going to visit on my next trip to LA.
"Have you seen him"? I still watch that amazing film all the time.
Wow what a great video! Do you remember what the guy told you at the skate shop that day you got the Hawk board over Hossoi?
I enjoy watching your videos because you and your family put a lot of effort into them. Great work!
Super cool to see all this memorable stuff! I love this channel! Thanks for always bringing me back in time !

Kool episode! It would’ve been neat to see more of those bikes he has in there 😊
The collection of old skate mags is awsome
Like your Town & Country Surf design hat!
My first and 2nd decks are in there....Jeff Kendall and Vision "Jinx" model. Also had the Corey O'Brien and Steve Saiz. Looks like an awesome spot.

I also had that Rambo lunchbox, lol.
I actually caught my 1st charges when I was 10 trying to burn down Jason Lee's families house that was being renovated. I was with older "friends" and it was over a broken board

My first board was in 1986. Marty Jiminez Vision. Beautiful board. Then i switched to Santa Cruz & h Street boards. Corey obrien and John Shultes decks.
1st was also a Jinx! Everybody says one of the Bones riders, or Gonz or gator. Props to Marty Jiminez!

Reminded me of my old Ramp Rat board. I really wasn't a skater but l have a cousin that was big time.
Great video Kurt. Just curious why you waited so long to post it if it was filmed last year?

I still have all of my SLAP skateboarding magazine from 96 until they stopped publishing
Rip Jeff Grosso.forever missed
The best board I ever had was a Claus Grabke melting clocks! I wish I can get another deck.
I have an original version of the Jeff Kendall at 5:13. Dope board
Wow, there was a skate museum in San Luis Obispo as well, but unfortunately after/during C19 it closed down. Way smaller than this one but was still cool..
Hadn't skated for awhile? Well, you sure did show up those younguns. :)
i was wonder when you were going to make this video
I want to touch the Animal Chin board too. If I ever get back to LA I’m going
What an incredible place! I have to go visit it !
Yeah, rip it up! I’m still waiting for a video of Yabbo’s underground shelter.
Where do you find your t&c stuff

A lot of history
I didn't see my first pro board on the wall. Bill Danforth longneck.
This place is sweeeeeeet
A fellow Mike McGill board user!
Nice
Hope he has a fire suppression system! That would be heartbreaking
it's crazy to think some little kid rode on one of those old scooters, grew up, had a life and passed away already
🤘🏻🎱🤘🏻

Advice to the beginner: far less injuries in vert skating 😉 Street is brutal
😎🤘
I get totally winded bmxing on pump tracks and neighborhood tracks after a few laps. Damn it was so much easier as a 13 yr old 😂😂
Transworld Skateboarding was the best skater mag
Dang Simi has everything, the Ronald Reagan library,The Hat and the Skateboard hall of fame lol
You want a good pastrami sandwich, you gotta go to Rhineland deli in Thousand Oaks. I always the the hat was good and then I move to TO and found Rhineland deli then once I tried the hat again I was so disappointed.
