Damn I miss 80’s skateboarding. There has been nothing like it since then. Such a great time, skateboarding is so technical now, where it is extremely impressive, just doesn’t have the same swagger it did back then. The clothes, the music, the boards, everything was awesome. I remember buying The Skateboard Superstunts videos from K-mart. I watched them like 1000 times.
Born in '75, I grew up skating in the '80s, watching all Powell Peralta videos. The original Bones Brigade was my favorite. Thanks for making this video. It sure brings back some of my childhood memories when life was simpler and sk8-in’ was rad. 👊🏼🤙🏼
Lance Mountain skating through the streets and hitting up everyday street furniture and obstacles is very relatable as anyone with even a basic level of skateboarding can give this a go ( it's fun and accessible ). The general vibe of the video is so motivating to skate for the pure feeling that it still resonates with me today ( probably to others too no doubt ). Thanks for doing this video as 'Video Show' is a favourite ( along with Future Primitive ).
This was so freakin’ awesome! Nice job on some of the recreations. A few of those I am sure were tough with Lance being regular and you being goofy footed. I had just requested you do a vid on the original locations of Del Mar and Pipeline last week. so was so stoked to see that! How do I get one of the 80’s life/Boneles stickers? Love all of your work but this one really hit home!!
This video is absolutely incredible! Wow. For someone like me who was born in 75, grew up in Florida but lived in LA from 03-14, skated in the 80s, obsessed with collecting skateboards, I enjoyed this so much wow!! I hope Stacy appreciates this! I’m sure he would. This was really fun and I’m sure took a lot of research and work
My first deck was Tony Hawk.I remember going to skateboard shop and the owner would pop the tape in the vcr and the group of us would sit on our boards and watch the video while eating Blimpies sub sandwich(they would hook up us up with free food)Good ol days!!!!!
Great idea for a video I love it. The painters hat was a nice touch. We would get them from Wellborn paint store for free and then graffiti with sharpie with all the skate logos.
Bro - your insane for this one‼️‼️‼️ ABSOLUTELY one of my personal favorites 🎯🔥💯💯🎙️ Animal Chin next? I still have an inflatable map to the skaters homes if ya need it 🎯🎯🎯
The other dude skating the pool, which I believe was called “The Alien Bowl”, with Lance, Eddie, and Steadham, is Dave Bedore. Dave rode for Uncle Wiggly. He also did music for the H-Street soundtracks.
Thanks so much for doing this Kurt. I was 12, working my 1st job in Boulder CO, building and selling skateboards & components in a small hobby shop. We had a 13" color T.V. VCR combo and we played this and all the other videos, over and over again, all day.
I enjoy your channel immensely, bit this was peak. I started skating properly in late '88. My first video that I saw was Public Domain. I never saw this one until much later. I never realised the relevance of Lance coming out the chimney again in Ban This, until I saw it. Such a special time in skating and my youth. Thank you for this great video.
I'm not sure how many times we watched this when we had some down time, or it was raining and couldn't get outside. Brings back a lot of memories for sure.
Man, 40 years ago, my older brother and his friends were really into skateboarding and had their own half pipe out in the forest! I clearly remember him bringing this video home! I watched it and was just blown away! I watched it many times, even by myself. It didn't get me into skateboarding, since I was heavy into RC cars at that time, but I loved the action and music so much from this movie. Thank you so much for the memories!
Thank you so much for the trip down memory lane and the nostalgia! As kids my friends were always thinking "wouldn't it be cool to be like these skaters, be their friends and hang out like them?" Understand whether it be culturally, financially or family upbringing, many of us couldn't do that. It was also my dream as a kid to live and go to college in California, unfortunately that never happened. At least I can live vicariously through these videos! Thanks for taking the time to film and edit this and visit all the sites, that's a ton of work! Please tell me you will do Future Primitive and Animal Chin. That would complete the original trilogy for us that grew up with the Bones Brigade :) Thank you so much!!
Great! I burnt that tape into the ground! Growing up in the Midwest, we only dreamt of waking up and skating all of those rad locations. Thank you for putting this together, next, Animal Chin! (invite me and I'll be out for filming)
I was born in 75, in the UK. Started skating in the 80s so this is pure nostalgia for me too. Being from rainy old England, all the places in skate videos felt so different and far away back then. Even now, they still feel like that. Well done on such a great video. So much hard work has been put into this, always well presented, funny and entertaining. Thank you!
Boy ! This video is a treasure ! Can’t count the number of times of watched the video show. Was so powerful seeing all these spots today! Thank you for making this !
BRAVO. As someone who loves BBVS and also loves spot sleuthing, this was one of the best things I’ve watched in a while. Thanks for putting this one together. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Loved it, Lance in his friends were really good skateboarders. Looking at how things looked back in 1984 in now forty years later was amazing in how things seemed much simpler then.
I'll have to admit that I wasn't expecting much here. I got that video in 84 and have since got the DVD extended version. I still enjoy watching this. This guy went above and beyond what I expected! It was fun to watch this but different to see the changes in various areas. Somewhat sad since I still do a lot of the 70's and 80's style moves and miss those eras a lot! Skateboarding is still great today but different in ways. Thanks for the high quality video!!!
This is the coolest thing I've seen in a while. The Bones Brigade Video show changed my life. I was 10 years old in 84. I lived in Santa Monica in 87 and skated everywhere. I always thought of Lance Mountain and tried to skate like him when I was skating around LA. I bought my Powell boards at Rip City. Your video is so cool!
So rad! We lived this as kids! I remember buying the video in 7th grade from Scripps Surf n skate here in San Diego! Great times I think we literally wore that tape out. My parents threw it away when it broke,( ended up having all the BB vids.. . Those tapes literally made you wanna do all that stuff after you snd your buddies would watch them, and then we’d come back and watch it again. Get stoked and do it all over again, which is what I think Stacy‘s end goal was with those videos.!
Had me at Video Show. Kept me at Breakin! great video. Making me smile far too much. We watched this and then Future everyday after school. And when Chin came out it was just a whole new wonderful.
Great job on this one Kurt! Not only well covered and informative but you made it very entertaining with some laughs as well. Had that house not been there it would've been awesome to see you skate off the roof 🤣
This is over the top! You darn near remade the whole video! It's makes me happy sad to see how much has and hasn't changed. You even gave us a slam. Skateboarding will never be like this again. Equal parts transportation, skill and art. We would ride every day and go look for our friends and goof off all along. I wasn't good at tricks but I loved the BBVS back in the day. Thanks!
The gas station you couldn’t locate is on Santa Monica Blvd and Laurel ave. Santa Monica Blvd between Fairfax and Crescent Heights. The little hut building is still there.
The Bones Brigade and Vision Streetwear videos were so amazing and bring back so many memories. Man so so expensive too lol. If I remember it was either 19.99 for a 45 minute video or possibly 29.99? Either way one of the things I love most about youtube other than your channel is the fact that I can have most of these videos to come back to over and over again.
Just have to say Thank you so so much for this Kurt. I discovered that my local skate shop in Sacramento/Fair Oaks rented skateboarding tapes so every Saturday my mom would go over and rent me this and future primitive and I would fall asleep watching them every Saturday night.
This was great! Fun looks and you found way more locations than I expected. Someone probably already mentioned that you can spot Stacy's blue Volvo station wagon in a bunch of the OG shots.
@80s Life I just started learning about Bones Brigade this past week and picked up a board second hand yesterday! What are the odds you’d put this video out around the same time. Very cool coincidence! Always enjoy your rad videos!!
I remember vinyl fetish on Melrose, it was on Melrose and poinsettia… Really cool store, we used to go record shopping there in the early 90s. That was back in the days before hot topic… You had to go to Melrose to get band T-shirts that you liked.
Listening to your Bones Brigade Audio Show interview!👊🏻💥🛹

'72 and I still skate. Get some!
Same born in 75’ loved the Bones Brigade got to see all of them compete at Savannah Slama 89’. First board Lance Mountain
Born in 76 and got back on last year after 30 years! LOVIN' IT!!
Born in 76 started skating again 2 years ago.. this video sure brought back some Great Skate memories.

Holy shit! Mountain Manor was across the street from Phil Spector’s castle!?! 🤯🤯🤯
The Bones Brigade are legends of skating that can never be denied. What a great bunch of guys.
Yeah, they were revolutionary. Rodney Mullen invented the flat ground ollie… that’s all that was needed to make street skating explode.
Love this! Thanks for taking the time to skate and create! Isn't skating grrrrreat!
This was so freakin’ awesome! Nice job on some of the recreations. A few of those I am sure were tough with Lance being regular and you being goofy footed. SO many good memories from the Bones Brigade days. I wanna go back!!
I have no words for the radness of this location video. 11 out of 5 stars.
Define the 80’s. Skateboarding!
Lance Mountain helped design the Peck Park skatepark you filmed this at. It’s my local skatepark and is a pretty fun.

Dude! I just went in there to buy pads and didn't even realize that was that store! Bill was awesome!
Awesome 👍😎👍
THIS is why I’m subscribed!!!

Kurt thank you so much for this! When do we get to see Future Primitive filming locations?
Dope video my bro!!
This is the best video you've done so far! Keep up the good work, my dude. Once a skater, always a skater.
Great video, enjoyed it a lot, thanks!!
I still have my Pipeline ID card, saw the Peralta crew there once
Loving KC on a skateboard!
Amazing work. I always wondered where a lot of these locations were.
Good work tracking all the spots down. We watched all those old vids! Cool 🤙
Pretty cool to see the og locations!
Thank you for your hard work!

Wow amazing !! Awesome to see Lance’s old backyard!! All the great memories!!!
This is absolute genius! I would love to see you do more skate video filming locations. As a skate nerd from Germany this is like a dream come true.
I'll have to admit that I wasn't expecting much here. I got that video in 84 and have since got the DVD extended version. I still enjoy watching this.

Very cool and creative video and a great tribute to the greatest skate team and skate videos of all time. Well done, brother. God bless.
Wow... thanks for making this video . I can't believe you found all these iconic skate spots. You are AWESOME, TOTALLY AWESOME !!
I remember being invited to watch it after school freshman year in '85. It blew my mind.

It was the same one skated in Blind “Video Days” right?
Amazing job. Jason “ODB” from Our Lifestyle Podcast (OLP). ✌🏽

Holy Shitoh! RADDDDDDDD!!!!
Also great video. Brought back memories.
Awesome video sir! I especially dug seeing Lance's backyard.
