Very Cool, Thankyou. G'Day looks and sounds great. I wouldn't do anything apart from maybe swap out pickups, it is what it is, just enjoy it. All the best. Cheers

After purchasing several budget LPs & a few SGs I finally broke down and bought a chibson LP and a black chibson angus young SG with lightening bolt inlays, both of these guitars come a lot closer to the real thing than my other budget guitars, sort of wish I would have found these chibsons a lot sooner in my collection, excellent guitars.

I stamp a "NOT" centered above the "made in USA. Also stamp "CHINA" in the center of the serial number.

I bought one to mod it out for a specific genre of metal. I would probably never do that to one of my nice American guitars.

I would have to change everything out on this guitar and definitely scrape that binding back, I love the Gibson mini humbuckers although I think |I would have to do something to that logo if I were to put the Gibson pickups in it, actually, if I were buying a Chinese guitar through one of their retail sites, I would buy from Cathy Guitar as she will make the guitar without the open book headstock and G logo, and the quality of her guitars is better all round

I have the exact same one. It plays and sounds great. I've had several Les Paul's in the past, they never stayed in tune. For that kind of money that should not have been an issue. Therefore I have no problems buying chibsons.

People love looking down on these guitars, however have no problems with the fact that Gibson is charging in some cases $20,000 for a guitar!

There are thousands of other options besides Gibson. I guess people are just okay with being fake. So buy your Les Pauls from China, along with your Nikes, Levis, etc. Might as well complete the fakery to everything you own.

the entire marketing & sales of cheap knockoffs is in their superficial appearance online. If they lost the fake branding, headstock, ect.. then they'd just be another inexpensive imported 300$ guitars for beginners, and whomever. However, chibsons are produced by countless little independent shops that follow no standards, policy, or rules among them regarding anything from materials, production, administration, distribution, or quality control. So chances of that are slim

Its a big of a shame that they put the counterfeit logos on them because they seem to be great and at wholesale price. They really should ship em with blank headstocks as generic guitars and nobody would have as big a problem.

Super Cool you are wax potting . - i would think thrift store to pick up a aluminum pot and a few candles - cost 3 dollars.
This video raises some legit discussion topic that i have a lot to say on. Gear and the value that is placed on fetish-ized objects from the golden era of classic rock. like if one posses something legit from this era it automatically increases your status as a musician 1000 fold. lol .
guys asking questions like "is that strat made in japan? - unbelievably rude people missing the point , you just get done playing them a heartfelt original piece of music that took you 35 plus years of hard work to pull it off and the only thing they have to say is some jab about their gear being worth more than yours. maybe people act like this because the only original song they can play is pounding on an E and alternately hitting some octave E power chord non stop.
received a 6 dollar 50 cent p-bass pick up to put in a "officially licensed" bc rich warlock bass i had laying about here. it was so cheap this pick up but it did have little bits of wax all over it - perhaps it went thru potting ? i hate to think these is a old Chinese guy whos job it is to candle chunks on the pick ups before shipping them to us. headphones only so far , but it sounds great for 6.50 this p-bass ceramic 8k pick up thru a zoom B3. - its amazing- the stuff China can sell us for much lower than the price of a coffee .
people rag on china , but if you do NOT purchase the cheapest item on the menu , if you order the mid and upper price tier items - you will be pleased . on the other side of it -thats a nice looking chibz - fixer up and keep it .i have a 50 dollar goodwill squire i redid and the only headstock badge i found was one for legit usa fender -so i put it on there , not to fool anyone - besides the neck plate says squier - i could have gotten some F custom shop abomination neck plate , but what would that prove , that i am special needs ?
I did have had one single guy ask about the guitar specially as we were playing and he thought it was a legit fender. its no one else biz what gear anyone plays thru ! people always recommend you play thru the same gear they do - with out even considering stylistic differences - its weird . Any player worth their salt should be able to tell from 3 feet away if its legit , but maybe not considering how Gibsons severe QC and quality issues have become what they have .
Of course I get what you are doing here , its a review / demo video and that is very helpful and you braig up a good discussion topic in the process. the idea of a phony badge is never celebrated . when i read one of the responses here , i don't agree. i don't see it as a deal breaker . a lot of that comes down to intent , if you are ultimately going to be honest about its authenticity and i would say only a moron or slime ball type would consider pretending.
Ultimately it doesn't matter what anyone else but YOU thinks about your gear. i do not need mass approval for my tone / gear . I think what i do is unique enough to stand on its own as being good , it can transmute an emotion just like professional music i grew up on. my job is done , much less importance is placed on gear as its not the main point , the point in what we do is the music. that speaks for itself. . somewhere along the like we ended up with a LOT guys who just play enter sandman and think everyone else needs to be told to play thru the same gear as they do or suffer the fate of being some kid in his bedroom with a line 6. tough for me to wrap my head around that one ... .
apparently , playing guitar in 2024 has entered you in the dick measuring contest of all time. it has nothing to do with originality , writing a piece of music or any thing good , as long as you have the tattoos and pirate pimp accouterments . forget what the next guy is playing thru , respect your brothers in rock , even if they dont play "authentic" lol gibson (so cringe), even if they do not play in a cover band or shred .

So is your strat from Japan?
By the way, my new song does involve me pounding on an E and alternately hitting and octave E power chord)

    Nobody really likes a copycat.

Why bother with taking the logo off? It is what it is. I have 2 Chibsons, upgraded with genuine parts and I don't intend to pass them off as authentic Gibson guitars. I can't afford the thousands of dollars Gibson is asking. I like the beauty of a Gibson, including the logo. I'm not ragging on you, I'm just interested in why this is so taboo? Is it political incorrectness? Guitar snobism? Blowing things out of proportion? Making a mountain out of a molehill?

Honestly Id rather own a Chibson for 220$ than a Gibson for 2k. Gibsons are so overpriced its insane. I think whatever the chinamen putting these Chibsons together are doing proves it.

You youtubers are the absolute worst for constantly buying/supporting these Counterfeit guitars. Stop buying them! Stop promoting them! I get the whole "budget guitar craze" but there are actual name brands out there, not f-ing counterfeits!

I would sell it as a real Gibson and make a huge profit
