Babymonster don't need autotune nor do they use auto tune they use studio versions with no autotunes but autotune needs them. Edit: since ya'll getting so mad lemme clarify, every artist uses autotune for one or another reason, yes, it's not a bad thing, yes; BUT in the survival show even though it was heavily edited little to no autotune was used, the only thing it could've been used for was pitch correcting slightly. (There was little to no difference between the survival show and Ahyeon singing live only her pitch is either higher at times in lives or lower so it don't make a difference and they really don't need autotune other than pitches.)
Warming up with pitch correct. It should be noted that both of these sound fine, pitch correct is not a magic wand for bad singing, she was still doing the heavy lifting and hitting notes, pitch correct helps remove the inconsistencies you expect in the human voice. They didn't layer her voice or do anything to add support, if she was singing mediocre all pitch correct would be doing here is help her sound more consistent and slightly less mediocre overall. An easy tell for pitch correct tends to be volume, the right clip has a dynamic sound depending on the note and what register she's singing in, the left clip has a balanced sound that isn't normal for unedited voice. The second tell is that she has a nice vibrato in the right clip and that's been mostly edited out in the left clip.

The first clip was originally live but has post-production added to ensure the highest quality before posting the video online (mostly to protect the artists from hate since most recordings are “perfect” on the internet)!! It’s a mix of both and definitely has people confused, but I’ve worked as a recording engineer for things similar to this and it’s just what happens!! Hope this helped~~ ❤
That’s also just the music industry standard across all cultures and is almost always required to do for sound technicians/engineers when working with artists.
For the last example I’ll give, you can insert the first recording in any pitch-correcting software and it’ll show all the pitches either perfectly in pitch (called cents, which the absolute perfection would be 0) whereas the second would be quite a bit off (flat and sharp in pitch was inserted in the software). It’s the best way to check whether the post-production took place or not.
I don't think people understand, just because you are singing live doesn't mean your voice can't be tuned. Most artists nowadays have autotune on their voices as they sing live. They have live, raw vocals going into the mic, yes, but when it comes outta the speaker it's tuned. The high notes are really high thats why in the second clip she needs to kind of force it up and it sounds like shouting. She's really talented though

first one was an evaluation (if i remember correctly) so it was probably 100% live when done in front of the yg company. but because they are posting online they definitely added post production to perfect it for viewers. great vocalist tho 🫶🏼

The first clip was originally live but has post-production added to ensure the highest quality before posting the video online (mostly to protect the artists from hate since most recordings are “perfect” on the internet)!! It’s a mix of both and definitely has people confused, but I’ve worked as a recording engineer for things similar to this and it’s just what happens!! Hope this helped~~ ❤
That’s also just the music industry standard across all cultures and is almost always required to do for sound technicians/engineers when working with artists.
For the last example I’ll give, you can insert the first recording in any pitch-correcting software and it’ll show all the pitches either perfectly in pitch (called cents, which the absolute perfection would be 0) whereas the second would be quite a bit off (flat and sharp in pitch was inserted in the software). It’s the best way to check whether the post-production took place or not.

I don't think people understand, just because you are singing live doesn't mean your voice can't be tuned. Most artists nowadays have autotune on their voices as they sing live. They have live, raw vocals going into the mic, yes, but when it comes outta the speaker it's tuned. Don't get me wrong, most of the singing in the vid comes from Ahyeon's skills but the truth really is that both clips that we're hearing are a bit autotuned. 😅
