Just so you know they both were doing their thing during the same exact time just on 2 different Coasts. We in NY first heard about the Dr. from World Class Wreckin' Cru in 1985 but he was doing his thing as a club DJ before that.
Glad to see Dre still here. I heard he went blind from diabetes. Good to see that he's healthy and strong. He sounds waaaay different than I remember. But Dre and Ed Lover was the super duo of hip hop music video programs.

A legend in his own mind. This guy seems worse than the fake T.K Kirkland account claiming to have been responsible for, or a part of everything that’s ever happened. It’s Comical and not believable... Even his claim that in 1985 Black people weren’t allowed to walk through the front door of a party club someplace in Boston, yet he was cool with that and played his set with the band. Do any of you know ANY Black man that would have accepted that shit in 1985? Absolutely not believable! I don’t believe the Beastie Boys would have played their set either and allowed that. He wants legend status and pity at the same time!

I met Dre the night Tupac performed at a club in Jamaica Queens called Trafalgar Square round '93. He was shaking hands with the people in the crowd. That night was crazy and packed asf! Crazy how people don't know Yo MTV Raps with him and Ed Lover or Who's the Man? In other words Hip Hop culture!

Peace, In the mid-80s my buddy and I went to WHPK, Hyde Park radio University of Chicago radio station. We saw Trouble Funk with The Beastie Boys and Dr. Dre as their dj. The show was ill !!! De. Dre was rocking and cutting up scratched records doing his things on the wheels of steel. Russell was put of his mind that night but the show was crazy, big ups to a pioneer of the culture.
Much respect to Dr. Dre! I always laugh when I think about that Original Concept song where he says "Im Dr. Dre not Fab 5 Freddy..." and him becoming part of Yo! Mtv Rap legacy later on in his career.
Then why in 1989 did the Beastie Boys give Original Concept a shout out on the Paul's Boutique album? "Original Concept in the House!" Are literally the last words on the album before the outro.

Born and raised in Fort Lauderdale. My first car I got at sixteen when the original concept was released. I had 4 15” woofers in my car so I played tunes like “Can you feel it”.
There is Doctor Dre & Dr Dre. For young cats it can be confusing. Some would even say dude was stealing names. But that is not the case. The lesser known Doctor Dre is a legend & had his own rap segment show on MTV back in the day. In the late 80's 90's-mid 90's. That was lit and helped the hiphop culture grow and get that world wide status. YO! MTV RAPS!
Artists are independent contractors. It's not the responsibility of the label head to "take care of artists". You sign contracts and that's how you get paid. That's the way the music industry operates and has for decades going back to blues and rock n roll. Not saying it's right but it is what it is and artists need to educate themselves on the business. It's a broken business model but it is what it is.

Some of their album was recorded/mixed at Sabella Studios in Roslyn, Long Island. My group did our album there and there's a big picture of Straight From the Basements of Coolie High on the wall. Good shit.

In the mid-80s my buddy and I went to WHPK, Hyde Park radio University of Chicago radio station. We saw Trouble Funk with The Beastie Boys and Dr. Dre as their dj. The show was ill !!! De. Dre was rocking and cutting up scratched records doing his things on the wheels of steel. Russell was put of his mind that night but the show was crazy, big ups to a pioneer of the culture.
Much respect to Dr. Dre! I always laugh when I think about that Original Concept song where he says "Im Dr. Dre not Fab 5 Freddy..." and him becoming part of Yo! Mtv Rap legacy later on in his career.
Then why in 1989 did the Beastie Boys give Original Concept a shout out on the Paul's Boutique album?

That was so early in the game and none of these guys (with the exception of Russell Simmons and Rick Rubin) didn't know how big hip hop would get.

When I was in 10th grade, I had a tape with Just-Ice - The Desolate One on one side, and Kool G Rap and DJ Polo - Road to the Riches on the other. I used to play that tape constantly. Just-Ice was dope and deserves more credit ✌️

Born and raised in Fort Lauderdale. My first car I got at sixteen when the original concept was released. I had 4 15” woofers in my car so I played tunes like “Can you feel it”.
I grew up watching yo mtv raps with dr dre and Ed lover. I never knew he was that deep in the rap game! Wow!
There is Doctor Dre & Dr Dre. For young cats it can be confusing.
Some would even say dude was stealing names. But that is not the case.
The lesser known Doctor Dre is a legend & had his own rap segment show on MTV back in the day. In the late 80's 90's-mid 90's. That was lit and helped the hiphop culture grow and get that world wide status.

Artists are independent contractors. It's not the responsibility of the label head to "take care of artists". You sign contracts and that's how you get paid. That's the way the music industry operates and has for decades going back to blues and rock n roll. Not saying it's right but it is what it is and artists need to educate themselves on the business. It's a broken business model but it is what it is.

There are thieves in every business, and it's sucks that too many people are not properly rewarded for their efforts because of greed.
That's true but many of these artists want fame instead of their money for their talent, I want my money in the end BC we see a lot of these artists and entertainers die broke and these blood sucker record labels, accountants and lawyers take all their money.

I love the records he talked about but my favorite one was you "Biting My style." And that's where my nickname came from Stylee-T. People say that you don't give yourself a nickname. I DID! In '87, I met Chris. Today known as DJ PREMIER, at PVA&M UNIV. Man, I regret not staying another semester. I could've gone to NY with him and ain't no telling where I'd be now.
