Good to see Betaine is actually getting some light shone on it now. I wrote my dissertation on it in 2017 but research was limited and my participants were too few to give any statistical significance despite promising results. Great to see you promoting it Layne!

I've followed Layne for a bit now and I really appreciate how methodical he approaches questions and problems. I'm going to give recovery and pre-workout a shot and compare against some more expensive brands.

Hard thing about this product, especially having creatine in it, is you need to have it every day really. Which means its going to run out pretty quick and at only 20 serves a container you're running out real quick. Or alternatively people will have it as a 'post' workout but then require a seperate creatine source on days off training and, as Layne says, these other ingredients seem to require continual doseage. So basically, I think there'll need to be a larger size that comes at a cheaper price as a result to make this worth it long term

I honestly haven’t purchased a pre-workout or a recovery product in years, I think your old line, carbon, was in fact the last ones I’ve felt was worth spending money on. But I just ordered your pre and recover. Been following you for almost a decade now, I always like to support you and you’re one of the few I trust.
Also, since I live in tampa too can you please hand deliver them to me so I don’t have to pay the shipping cost, I’m Jewish, and as you know, us jews value saving money at all costs, plus it’s Hanukah so it’s perfect timing. Thanks!

I've stayed away from workout supplements for a over a decade, but have been interested in giving something new a try that isn't full of garbage. I'm willing to try both your pre-workout and recovery as soon as they go on sale again.

On a slightly related topic, about creatine... This has been mentioned before by biolayne, that some people have GI issues with creatine.
I was one of those people. I've tried basic creatine-monohydrate from 2 popular brands, and I just had this feeling of low-grade nausea. And it was CONSTANT... nearly the entire day. I felt this way for about a month, taking between the recommend 2-5 grams per day(I believe was the dosage?).
About 3 days after I went off of it, the nausea went away.
I have found this other stuff that supposedly has a different PH balance, and it doesn't give me nausea. I cannot really speak to the efficacy of it, and who knows, it might be bs... but the nausea is gone.
Again, most people dont seem to have this problem, but mentioning in the case that someone else may have this issue.

    • @Buddy330
      @Buddy330 4 ปีที่แล้ว

What "other stuff" do you mean? I don't get the nausea but I get extremely bloated for days at a time when I take creatine.

I have been fermenting mimosa leaves with honeysuckle and after some research last year I think the chlorophyll, nitrogenous compounds, fats and lipids, and plant protein all ferment into simpler amines and proteins and esters... which seem to not only keep me "full" longer from the protein, but they also seem to help build muscle mass very quickly, as it's a readily available source of nutrients, I make it very potent.... so it's like a protein soup that drinks like a skunky beer, with some adaptogen properties also.
I've been doing this specifically for like a year but I've worked with mimosa since I created this TH-cam account.
I'd like to see more research into the medicinal, nutrient, and supplement values of legume trees prepared along similar lines, I think they all are good for this, but there may be specific nuances from tree to tree, which means that would be a good agricultural project to invest in at an industry scale.

The oral LCLT isn't worth the risk associated with the TMAO conversion in the gut.
It makes way more sense and is way more efficacious to just inject 500mg non-estered l-carnitine ED instead of taking oral LCLT.

That a lot of TMG! Some people are sensitive to methyl groups (CH3). You should consider adding the amino acid Glycine. Glycine is a methyl buffer. It attaches to free CH3 and also aids in recovery.

great info as always Layne thx. On a protein topic, is there a recent PROTEIN study on consuming raw (pasturized) vs cooked egg whites? So much easier to drink the egg whites but a study back in 1998 (which is all I could find) says you only get about 50% of the protein from raw vs 90% from cooked..??

Hey Layne! Id love too see a video covering this topic!
What if you chose instead of changing the diet, you too take away all "HITT" sessions and every form of cardio implemented for 2 weeks at a time, and allow the extra calories too go twords extra strength. While still letting your legs and CNS recover much better.
This also provides extra time in the days throughout the week for whatever your life may throw at you
Would love too see your thoughts on this- long time Fan Justin M!

But I was looking for a study where adding 5g leucine to casein protein might work as whey protein?
Leucine will be more in blood and all the amino acids provided by casein.. Can it work or not.. I can't find any study..
Rate of digestion of whey is fast which raises leucine too.. But in my given above example.. I am adding 5g to casein in free form... Won't it work same?
