Performance Drive Review - 2018 Subaru CROSSTREK 2.0i Premium

  • Core Subie traits like the AWD handling meet a super smooth ride and 33MPG highway for 2018. The 152HP boxer four with automatic now has a 6-speed manual option, too.
We lament the lack of LED DRLs or LED headlights that are so sexy on the 2.0i Premium trim (only). But our $26k Alltrack rival scores some fun giggles on the handling course. FULL REVIEW www.car-revs-daily.com/2018/04...

blitzbbffl thanks 🙏. Tech troubles meant no ext cam footage was usable. Two new gopro hero 6s for upcoming reviews!!! Should be a noticeable leap in video quality. Have a great wknd!

As you rev it on the straights and start into the left & right twisties, use your paddle shifters to engine brake (*downshift*) and save your brakes. Get good at that timing and you will fly through the twisty parts...

5:58 - looks like it's holding it at fixed rpm for peak power. I'm glad it does this at full throttle - seems like the 'stepped' fake-shifts only happen under normal driving but when you want full power it does what only a CVT can do and give you peak power for the whole time you're at full throttle which is pretty good - although you don't get an audible cue as to your rate of acceleration so it might feel slower that it actually is.

I believe you meant to say the top level Limited trim has the LRD active cornering headlights, instead of the Premium trim you mentioned that you were presently driving in this video.

jjacob25101 you’re absolutely right. I messed up the trims several times. Limited has all the goodies.

Tires squealing isn’t a sign of performance it’s a sign the tires are losing traction. If a cross trek is squealing tires than those are pretty shitty tires.

Casey Salvador How's the Premium so far? Decent power?

So far, the Crosstrek has decent power and gas mileage. I highly recommend it, its my Fiancee's car but I drive it mostly everyday and I'm loving every moment with it.

I know there's a compromise on the body roll because of the higher ride height than say, an Impreza, but I am wondering if there is much difference between the 17" wheel tire combination and the 18" setup in the Limited Crosstrek. I believe the Impreza Sport Hatchback would be better handling on the road, but of course, the Crosstrek is much more able when you wander off the roadways.

      jjacob25101 they’re both pretty low for off-roading

Still offroad capable the wrx roots are still attached on this crosstrek thinking about trading her mustang gt...hoping it will boost her confidence in driving in icy or heavy rain conditions due 2 awd her stang is Manuel with Hurst comp shifter but I think a Manuel will make her feel at home and 4 door deff make it easier with our 3 yr old....what are yas opinions on familly vehicle or safety on bad weather conditions?

Uh wth man. My mother and I got hit by a drunk driver head on in a Crosstrek, looking to replace the one we had. I'm not sure why you are driving like that, but it's making me cringe really hard. The road isn't your playground. There are other people there. I know you're not drunk or anything but there's no reason to drive like an ass, and pass people in no passing zones like that. Go to a mall parking lot or something if you want to do that crap. Irresponsible. You probably don;t care because you don't own the thing, but you're going to end up hurting someone.
