Almost got everything but your missing some key parts. For example Creon buried polynices first then he went on to free Antigone then he discovered Antigone’s hanging body, and Haemon is seen weeping next to her, Haemon attacks creon then misses then he takes his own life. Also Eurydice cursed creon’s life for the gods to ran their wraith on him during her suicide. (This is all during exodus everything else is fine)
@@RossFilmsTR keep in mind that there are two versions of the story and each one has some differential details! I think it depends on wish country your from or what book version I'm not rlly sure but ywah
Holy crap, why was this so much easier to understand than my professor explaining it in an alien language lmao. This is definitely gonna help me with my exam on Friday, thanks mate!
I have to do a scenic design project for this play lol, so technically as long as I know the story and have a setting in mind I'll be aight hopefully lol. Not quite the same thing but also equally pain in the ass-ey
HUGE help. Got a test on this in an hour lol. Watched it once, then watched it again at 1.25 speed and closed captions, now I feel like I can practically recite the entire thing lmao
This helped me understand the play more for my acting as I'm sharing the role of Antigone in the trial scene with a friend and need to understand how I should deliver my lines. Thank you
Ismene doesn’t know of the decree until Antigone tells her about it. I think it’s important to note that at the start the decree has not been announced yet, officially.
thank you for making this play UNDERSTANDABLE and available! I've tried to be a good student and read the play but i swear nothing was registering T^T Just...thank you
Thank you! I’ve always found it a bit hard to comprehend things when reading on my own especially when I’m a 7th grader just reading for fun. This definitely helps a lot.
There's a few inaccuracies in this. EG Antigone does NOT ask Ismene to keep it the burial plan a secret! When Ismene offers to, Antigone is angered by this - the seeds are sown of her intention to go down as a martyr and to expose Creon's arrogance and irreverence to the gods, not to be silent grave digger!
This video was super helpful. I have a 1,000-word essay due tomorrow on whether the chorus was on the side of Antigone or Creon. It's clear that it was Antigone though. Thank you so much!
Yooo thx for this quick video explaining the whole story. Really didn't wanna read the whole script for my Theater Project but you made it fast and easy for me
I’m American. I read this in 8th grade a long time ago. I’m 54 now and an English teacher. I’m reading this with my class this year!!! 😍 I think Greek literature is the best!!
I have a literature tommorow and certainly I haven't studied because I was busy preparing for math. Luckily you saved me and I can calmly go to class. Thanks!
I bought a book at dollar tree called arch-conspirator that was a retelling of Antigone but takes place in this dystopian future Earth. It was so good!
I am a french's teacher in Morocco. I liked the manner tou treated this cours. Can you show me how to make this genre of videos please ? It's seems very instructive ! The way images progress with your explanation is attractive. Thank you.
gabriel garcia marquez's novella "leaf storm" borrows some elements from this play, and i'm attempting a film adaptation of that work. for a screenwriting class...this summary is super helpful!!!!!!!
Much like Creon’s wife cursing out her husband before she died, I will make sure to curse out Sophocles even if it’s the last thing I do for writing such a boring fucking story
I seriously think that if public education could be replaced with kids teaching each other about their interests and TH-cam videos / tech and teachers were just around to sort of aid them, I think life and humanity would have a new Renaissance.
Am I the only one who finds weird that all these old school plays are like rock hard for suicide? Romeo and Juliet, this loads others like damm I thought my school was emo

Relatable 😂 but that was my fault cuz I didn't pay attention lmao
great summary! i also find it funny how ismene and antigone are wearing heels and a skirt while creon's in historical clothing lol
Jessica Pascale right lol
Damn you kinda cute shit lemme get yo snap😂
historically incorrect clothing**
Even Creon's clothes are inaccurate, no one would have a little Crucifix in 430 B.C.
And the messenger is wearing blue jeans.
Oh it’s pronounced “An-tig-O-Nee.” I’ve been saying “Anti-Gone” lol
ikr everyone at my school still can't pronounce it right even after my teacher said it 2094723 times
Girl same I had to write it out like Ant-tig-ah-knee so I wouldn’t say ANTI GONE lmao
same lmao, the main reason i’m here is to learn the pronunciations
Alexis Nunez SAMEEE
I literally tried to laugh react 😂

Thanks to this, I got a 95% on my English exam. Thank you so so much
so no one is going to talk about how the king and queen are drawn as ancient Greece clothing and the rest of the characters have modern clothes lol
It's to help them appear more relatable
Y’all here for a quiz or essay... but I’m here for a final 🤣🤣😫

by far the best summary of the novel i have seen today , short and apt. great work . keep it up bruh.
Arjun Pandit It's not a novel, ıt's a play.
eda sahin Oop
Fun fact: Antigone is actually said to be aged 12 - 13 years old in the play
There goes a whole term of school in a summary, 🙏🏿 thank you.
"stoned to death"
Cheers I'll smoke to that bro
hahaha fo sho man lets smoke to that
terrific summary! really helped me understand the play much greater than other videos! visuals helped as well

I tried reading the playbook but my head hurt from all the metaphors. Thank You for this summary!!
A moment of silence for those resorting to this video rather than reading the play. (Me)
Same here
I’m sitting in class, listening to this, and I have 5 minutes before I take a quiz about it. Did I mentioned that I didn’t read it at all?
Alan Lopez Same dude hahah

Aries Leo rising that is so amazing to hear!!!Im glad to see other countries appreciating Greek Literature, especially from ancient times:)
Nobody made a quizlet so I thought I was screwed. Thank you for this.
This story is the basis for the 1959 movie HERCULES UNCHAINED. Plus some of the characters were used in HERCULES as well.
We’re doing this play in theatre for a competition, I really like it. TBH I love the guard, he kind of functions as comic relief

Hi
Thanks for the help in better understanding!
Great help and overview, quick and simple. Thank you!
This channel is a life saver
Sooooo Antigone out here marrying her cousin
ancient greece was wack man
Was she also the daughter of Oedipus Rex? The guy who married his own mother on accident? I may be confused with someone else though
Yes, her mom was also her grandmother rip
Not sure...but I think you meant to say *Ismene* repeats the King's decree. Not Antigone.
Currently doing online school due to closures, couldn't ever figure everything myself. So this helped a lot....
I bought a book at dollar tree called arch-conspirator that was a retelling of Antigone but takes place in this dystopian future Earth. It was so good!
Thanks for giving me a clear summary of the plot. Btw, it's funny that you drew people in medieval clothing and people in modern clothing lol.
Hello

"He who appoints must be obeyed " right or wrong. Discuss in relation to the power struggle in Antigone by sophocles. Please l need the answer now 😭
wrong- if the law is wrong and the moral is right, then when they are incompatible- a law must be broken. one moral of antigone.
