I have the g3 and it's great! Love everything about it, you'll need to talk with someone that has the s5 for a comparison, but in my opinion the half an inch bigger display is definitely worth it
This is quite absurd cuz in Korea many people don't think g3 is more valuable than gs5. G3 is a good phone but it has disappointing battery performance and infamous cpu throttling. Lots of koreans bought g3 just for 200 dollars when it came out it was a hot deal just for 3days...., while it now costs about 500 dollars. Why do many tech sites praise LG? I still don't get it.

In the 'Features' bout, Brian neglected to mention LG's very useful Q Slide Apps feature (allows 'pop up' apps to hover on top of whatever you're doing w/ a user-selectable transparency level). I love my Optimus G (G3s predecessor)'s clean UI and overall functionality & performance. I'm just disappointed with the battery life but am hopeful that LG will improve it for the upcoming G3 Stylus which I'm eagerly awaiting.

Galaxy S5 won. CNET really scored the LG too high in some areas, whereas the S5 seemed to get unfairly low scores. It slaughters the LG on features, so if the S5 got a 5, the G3 should have got somewhere in the region of 4.0 - 4.5, not a 4.7. I actually expected CNET to be more likely be biased in favour our of Samsung rather than LG, but surprisingly, they were kinda unfair on the S5 here.
The features of the S5 honestly don't work half the time. There is just so much useless things on there that the average customer doesn't even use or care about.

No. I too have the LG G3...an excellent smartphone IMHO. However, the SGS5 is also a terrific device. Really, if you prefer the Android ecosystem you have a lot of terrific choices...to include the Sony Z3, HTC One M8...all are terrific devices. Tough call to pick a winner...boils down to personal preference for certain designs/features/etc. I have no regrets with the G3...but I suppose I could say the same for all four devices.

Many of the s5 features are pure novelty. The heart rate monitor for example. You think most people used that past the first day ? Who really uses the hand wave feature when the phone is a couple inches away? Most of the novelty features are very laggy and beyond "look how cool this novel feature is" they aren't practical or useful. Wastes space.
I think touchwiz and Samsung get a bad rap considering almost everyone I know uses a case to cover up any phone (including the LGG3 and the iphone) and uses launchers instead of the stock UI.

Thats a concern for me, looking to get a flagship value for money by the end of the year and so far LG G3 is cheapest with best value but that lag was also an issue last year when I had LG G2, it really lagged.. Is it a lot or only in specific areas?

As an impartial Nexus 5 owner, the G3 is clearly a far better phone as far as I can see. S5 is laggy as hell, who cares about those benchmarks?

I am an LG G3 user too and I love it. I just wish that the interface was a little quicker since it lags sometimes but overall no major complaints.
