Finally a KISS countdown I can agree with. Everything statement about Eric Carr is so true and classic. Gene and Paul were not shy about showering us with his massive powerful sound 😮. Gene, in an interview, once said Eric Carr was a far better drummer than Peter Criss. IMHO he was the best of the three drummers and made them relevant in the eighties. His passing was such a devastating loss for the group Paul Stanley - his voice - well - here is my thoughts on what happened. I felt he actually got more powerful and had more punch from 78-92 but than side projects ruined him. I feel his Broadway career as the Phantom in Phantom of The Opera took too much of a toll on his voice. You are spot on with Ace and Gene though
Gene's exact quote about Eric Carr: "He simply BURIED Peter." Paul's Voice: You are correct about his peak being between 78-92. He was one of the greatest rock tenors on Earth. However, regards his voice: you know he had a throat operation for polyps in 2011. Which means they were developing and scarring his vocals cords for a few years prior. So his downfall was not in utilizing his thunderous voice for so many projects - it was an unforeseen medical condition. And even though he called the operation a "success" - we all got ears, and we can hear the diminishment of his prime weapon. ANY operation (any "cutting" into the human body) NEVER restores you back to peak 100% - it's more like a "prolonging" than a "restoration." I'm so sad every time I hear him sing at 70%. He should have quit on top of his game (or started doing other singing projects outside KISS) so that his legend will live on with his best self.
In general, Eric Singer is kinda ignored when compared to his current and former band mates . There's Paul and Gene in the front who everyone knows and Tommy's always next to them . Then his predecessors Peter Criss and Eric Carr helped to create a new kiss . Eric did too but most listen to the Criss-Carr songs more . He's a really talented guy
All original Members are Great Singers ! My favorite is ACE ! Because he‘s Vocals were rar in the first 10 Years ! Ace is my favorite Member ! My second favorite is Peter because of his Cat Screamings in his Harder Tracks ! Third is Gene , he has that Hard Rocking Darker Demon Voice , fits perfect for KISS ‚s harder Tracks ! Fourth is Paul for me , Great Voice , but he had the most „Mainstream“ Voice ! KISS is not a 08/15 Band ! And I expect some special Vocals like Ace , Peter or Gene does , Paul had Great Tracks too . like „it’s Alright“ ; „ Danger“ ,“Rock Bottom“ or 100‘000 Years with great powerful Vocals ! KISS belongs to all of the 4 Voices !!! Later Members don‘t have the same quality for me as Singers !
There's really no bad singer in KISS. But I can't believe you didn't mention Eric Carr's harmony in GGRARTY. That and pretty much all the big backing vocals and harmonies he did with Paul throughout the 80's. Big part of their sound then.
Paul is #1 in all categories. NOBODY else sounds anything like him. He naturally has a very deep voice but can still hit high powerful notes better than anyone. Ace may have a style but it’s without a doubt the voice I prefer to listen to the least.
I don’t think i could pick a favorite and stick with them. Depends on my mood. I like the more gravelly sound to Gene’s voice, how soulful Peter’s can be, the definition and more springy tone to Ace’s, and the classic KISS sound of Paul. Everyone else is great too, and I love how they all contribute more to the fact that the band is really inclusive and good about letting everyone shine (for the most part).
Ability, spot on. Voice and style? It depends on what you like. It is too subjective. Do you like a clear tone like Paul? Do you like a gravel tone like Gene? Do you like a rasp like Peter or Ace? Too subjective.
Yeah, I agree. Definitely very subjective. :) I wanted some way to acknowledge how cool Ace and Peter are as singers even if they're not great technically.
Peter Criss’ albums All for One and Love Gun are thirty years apart , his voice from the beginning to Love Gun was awesome , yeah he may have needed help from other people to learn how to sing better but he sang a lot of songs on different albums. Getaway was an awesome song , Hard Luck Woman , man the list goes on and on , his Out Of Control album wasn’t the greatest but it was decent , and The Cat album was pretty good. Tommy Thayer tries too much to be Ace and there’s only one Ace , so that’s why he gets the name Fake Frehley. Paul probably has the best voice of all of them in my opinion , but Gene isn’t no slouch. Listen to the Asshole album , some pretty good songs with different types of singing and he really impresses. But Ace , to me , has the best voice , especially on his solo album and after KISS. Gotta be Paul for versatility and he played guitar well while singing. Peter Criss was next, able to sing a bit pretty. Ace was pretty jenky but could be effective. Gene brings up the rear, was good on R&R all night and his voice matched his demon character but as we heard with his solo album, was not the slightest bit interesting.
Peter has an AMAZING voice, he never got cred from Gene and Paul , but for Rock he is amazing. Paul is by far the best technical singer, he has amazing control and by far the best range, even if his higher register sounds a bit nasally. Gene has the most consistent voice, he always sounds like Gene, and his voice has held up the best (probably because Paul blew his vocal cords out by singing the majority of the songs. He insisted he sing the songs he wrote himself, and had he just spread the vocal duties out a bit more he probably would be in a much better place today vocally…. Just saying). The mighty Eric Carr is the wildcard we never really got to hear. He should have gotten at least 1 song a record regardless of who may have written it. It sucks Paul just wanted him cover the songs Peter use to sing because by all accounts he had a great voice. Ace…. I wouldn’t really call Ace a singer so much. Ace does that sort of Hendrix thing where he sort of talks his parts on pitch. No real range or vocal control but it works pretty well for what he does.
This is an impossible list for an Old School Kiss-Fan, but as long as you dissed FakeAce... Ive got nothing to say, keep making these lists - youre the best 💥 Love from Sweden 💖
"A guy that you don't really care about?" Tommy Thayer's songs and voice are outstanding in the 2009's Sonic Boom album "When Lightning Strikes" and 2012's Monster album "Outta This World." Although Paul has an outstanding range. It really showed on "I Was Made For Loving You'. That high note...my God!! But I gotta go with Gene. Very gritty voice that just worked. But harmonious, too. Loved his vocals on 'Deuce' and 'God of Thunder'. While I'm certainly not a Tommy Thayer hater. I actually think he's a really nice guy. But I once heard him singing 'Shock Me'. And he absolutely butchered that song. Back then, Ace had a really clean singing voice. Almost soft in some respects. Was perfect for 'Shock Me'. Tommy's voice was way too raw and heavy for that song, when he sang it.
I was at the new haven show where they sang white xmas. It blew my mind. U ranked Eric singer too high. I much prefer Eric carr singing harmonies live. There is some toughness and character.
Not a horrible ranking but Paul and Gene should both be much higher on voice. If you listen to the first three albums Gene is using a much more Beatles style voice and he also uses it in the Kiss Exposed documentary when he and Paul do a harmony while just sitting by the pool. The voice category is way more based on taste when it comes to Peter, Paul, and Gene. Vinnie also has a really awesome voice. Ace is my favorite member, and has been since the early 90’s, but his voice is not good at all. Eric Carr and Eric Singer both have good voices but not close to Paul’s. Vinnie’s ability should be much higher. I feel like you just put the Erics up high on all three categories because you didn’t know where to put them in reference to Gene and Vinnie. Nice. Not too far off from mine. And yeah I wasn't sure if I should include Vinnie's demos or not. I just found it interesting that he could actually sing so well.
Ilike Star Child (Paul Stanley),he was a showmen, and he really loved what he did. I love alot of their songs, and even watched when it was just him n a side project. I was sure he looks good with the makeup, but what about when he's not in it? I was pleasently surprised when he was NOT in the makeup, and looked just as good.
Maybe an unpopular opinion but: Peter's Black Diamond > Eric Carr's Black Diamond Peter's Beth < Eric Carr's Beth. For these two songs the reason for my opinion is the same. Peter's voice is too harsh for ballad like Beth and Eric's voice is too soft for Black Diamond. I mean they sing soooo really good but I share my thoughts on these songs. "Hard Luck Woman" and "Young And Wasted" are the, ya know, the examples where the harshness suits the ballad and softie suits the wild 😊. Paul's voice is good for romantic and dirty songs such as "Uh All Night", "Forever", "Hide Your Heart". Gene is good for evil songs such as "God Of Thunder", "Rock And Roll Hell" and "Unholy". There is no bad singer in Kiss, they are all unique! Btw. How many "yeah" is in Eric Carr's "Little Caesar"? From what I've heard on "Rockology" he has shouted "oh yea/yeah" quite many times 😅
Peter number 1 easy then Paul, Gene then Ace never heard the other versions of Kiss only liked the original true Kiss, not the bastardized versions that came later. I never heard the Franken Ace fake Catman Kiss.
I truly find this laughable!!!! Peter Criss by a country mile, I mean not even a photo finish or debate!!! Just like his drumming, jungle rhythm and jazz filled riffs and unique style and swing!!!!
I don't think I do. He's just not the most exciting member because he's been limited to imitating Ace rather than being allowed to be the good musician and songwriter that he is.
Here's the REAL list of the best overall singers in KISS - technique, style, ability, passion, breath control, lung capacity, endurance, showmanship, the works: 1) Paul 2) Gene 3) Eric Singer 4) Peter 5) Eric Carr 6) Ace 7) Vinnie 8) Tommy 9) Bruce 10) Mark I could be wrong... *but you know I'm right.*

4) Eric Singer
5) Ace Frehley
6) Carr
7) Thayer
8) Bruce
9) Vinnie
10) Mark
Nice. Not too far off from mine. And yeah I wasn't sure if I should include Vinnie's demos or not. I just found it interesting that he could actually sing so well.
@@allkissranked makes me think you should rank all the KISS members on who's had the best material outside of KISS
Tommy is good honeslty
peter for eric carr.
Paul Stanley lejos.
What the fuck does that have to do with the best damn voice in Kiss ever? Peter Criss by a country mile, no photo finish or debate!!!!!
I find it hilarious that a channel ranking KISS members singing can't bother to speak on the voice over. Ugh, must all channels be AI voice overs?
Haha poor Mark
Haha. Yeah. Maybe he sang like Pavarotti. We just don't know.
Paul stanley. Was the greatest vocalist of all time
Paul is my favourite but Gene is carrying kiss vocally now.
Yeah he sure is!
Wheelchair tour!!!!! ♿️
Peter Criss by far had the best damn voice by a country mile in Kiss, and he and Ace made them famous, never forget that!!!
Maybe an unpopular opinion but:
Peter's Black Diamond > Eric Carr's Black Diamond
Peter's Beth < Eric Carr's Beth.
Bottom Line Rankings....#1 Paul, # 2 Peter, #3 Gene, #4 Ace....Done!
Peter number 1 easy then Paul, Gene then Ace never heard the other versions of Kiss only liked the original true Kiss, not the bastardized versions that came later. I never heard the Franken Ace fake Catman Kiss.
1/ PAUL, of course 2/ GENE 3/ ERIC SINGER 4/ PETER
5/ ACE 6/ E.CARR 7/ THAYER 8/ BRUCE
Nice. Not too far off from my list. If I wasn't doing the whole ability/style/voice thing I think I would've put Gene higher too.
Of course, are you still sniffing bath salts 🧂???? Peter Criss by a country mile, no photo finish or debate!!!! Catman is the best
Peter Criss as best voice? Whoever put this together is high. Criss couldn't carry a tune in a bucket
Gene is 6th?
You are voting for Harris aren’t you because you have no common sense at all.
I love Ace, but he is a very bad singer
True. He's certainly got a cool vibe to his singing though.
It'd be easier to rank by worst.
I truly find this laughable!!!! Peter Criss by a country mile, I mean not even a photo finish or debate!!! Just like his drumming, jungle rhythm and jazz filled riffs and unique style and swing!!!!
Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons co-lead vocalists in Kiss
Left a 48 secs. Annoyed with computer voice.
Paul is far and away the best singer in KISS. It's not even a contest
Are you still sniffing bath salts 🧂!! Lol 🤦♂️
Peter Criss by a country mile, Paul couldn't hold Peter's microphone!!!!
@@kevinchandler179 Did Peter ever do Broadway/ Paul absolutely destroys Peter. who sounds the same on every song
@@kevinchandler179 lol your trolling
Stop hating on Tommy, you are a fake kiss fan
I appreciate the comment.
I don't hate on Tommy at all. He's been a great musician for them for over 20 years now.
@@allkissranked so why do you talk shit about him
I don't think I do. He's just not the most exciting member because he's been limited to imitating Ace rather than being allowed to be the good musician and songwriter that he is.
@@allkissranked stfu he has never imitating ace
I'm baffled by your anger toward a fellow kiss fan on an Internet top ten list.
Im a huge ACE fan but he can't sing.
Yeah, I felt like he improved a bit around Trouble Walkin'. But you're right, he's not great, although I do like his style.
@@allkissranked there are songs that better fit his voice and he is a solid back up singer but some things he shouldn't even try to do.
Gene is the best singer, should have been the front man for the band. Sounds mean and raspy. Paul sounds like a sissy compared to him.
I always thought Gene's monster voice in the 70's was cheesy AF!
Here's the REAL list of the best overall singers in KISS - technique, style, ability, passion, breath control, lung capacity, endurance, showmanship, the works:
1) Paul
2) Gene
3) Eric Singer
4) Peter
5) Eric Carr
6) Ace
7) Vinnie
8) Tommy
9) Bruce
10) Mark
I could be wrong... *but you know I'm right.*
Bro Tommy is better than ace
:). Yeah my system is definitely pretty arbitrary. If I was looking at it holistically I think my list would look pretty similar to yours.
My list is almost the same as yours except I don't particularly like Eric Carr's voice so I ranked Ace #5 and Carr #6
Paul👏👏👏👏
ranked off technique - breath support, intonation, mix, headvoice/falsetto, cord closure, agility etc then its Paul>Singer>Gene
