If I were Osaka's coach, I'd work on her net game. She seems perfectly content to try hit winners from the baseline. There were several crucial points where she was one point away from a game and she just stood on the baseline instead of coming in to volley away floaters from Muchova. That 5-4 lead second set Osaka had was crucial and she lost the game and the match. Had they gone into a third set it was anybody's match. Osaka needs to add more elements to her game or she needs to find a new coach
I am not a tennis expert or anything of the nature but I’ve seen seeing this type of comment for a while regarding Osaka and from what I’ve seen, it’s true. She had to adjust to get better on clay but she needs more variety than just being a hard hitter. It seems like players are use to it now.
Keep in mind she lost against Swiatek at RG, Navarro in Wimbledon and now Muchova at US Open. She had super difficult early draws in recent Grand Slams.
