I'm very sad. Just learned of Joey's passing on 8-25-22. He was the greatest. I met and talked with him on a number of occasions. In addition to being a superb musician, he was a really down-to-earth, nice person. He will be missed.😔

I saw Joey years ago at the Toronto Jazz Fest with John McLaughlin. He was playing B3 and Trumpet. I had no idea he played sax. This is mind blowing!

I liked your comment shortly after you posted it. Because those were exactly my thoughts and I felt it. Now I‘m sitting here balling my eyes out. It feels like the loss of a family member. I know we‘re a bit selfish here, but I also can‘t stop thinking about his family … My father died in his mid 50es from a heart attack when I was young and I remember being angry with him for years for him not taking care of himself.

It's really good to see Joey looking so healthy
When I saw him with the JazzTimes Superband back in 2000. (RIP Bob Berg) He weighed probably over 300 pounds then but was like a religious experience watching him mash those keys. I will never forget it.
A man of many talents! I never knew Joey played wind instruments with he same skill and flare as his organ playing. I've only ever heard his organ music,..until now. WOW.

Joey DeFrancesco: So expressive, and such a natural musician (organ/keyboard/horns). I love this unique combination of instruments for his trio - they balance and compliment each other so well. I'm amazed at the effortless yet so fine bass pedal technique, even in those thick shoes. Wish I could have met/heard him before he passed too soon.
RIP JdF. I brought my son to hear you play one gig only at Vancouver Centre for the Performing Arts and we were blown away by your virtuosity and your heart.

Had the good fortune to see Joey de Francesco live twice, first at the Catalina Bar & Grill on Sunset Blvd in the early 2000's, then some years later in Hong Kong as part of the David Sanborn Trio - astonishing talent!

8/28 - Just read of Joey passed away. He was definitely a Giant as a "Jazz Organist". Playing with Miles in his early career - that in itself said Joey was in a class of his own. Joey the music world and your fans will miss you. God Bless to your family.

I love a "melodic" drummer - great improvisation. And don't ignore that Joey is also playing bass - on the pedals. Listen with good headphones and you can hear him running some good swinging lines.
Very interesting concepts for Band...You have to think about it.. Anwar is Great also...Been to Rockport , Water Rocks ,small streets and floats. Nice.

Looking good man! Adding the tenor to the gig bag haulin' workout made all the difference. But if you start playing the trombone and drums you'll end up just skin and 'bones.
