Awesome video , thankyou so much for this video super helpful. I’m a self taught hunter and hunt the east hills of pa . I haven’t hunted in 15 years bought a new home up in the mountains an my goal was to take a buck. Got back in the saddle an fell back in love with hunting archery mainly, shot my nice 8 pointer last year escouted to the best of what I know which isn’t much but this put a huge perspective on what I need to do more. Very similar stuff to where I hunt.
Thanks for taking us along with ya. The only critique I have is maybe showing your ideal entry and exit routes to the proposed stand sites on the zoomed out map 🦌🏆
Man I live not to far from you a little south in lycoming. It’s amazing how different the country is!! Mountain Laurel everywhere so thick you can’t even walk through it and oak trees litter the forest. It must be the soil on why it is so different.
More and more I’m thinking they are often within sight, sound, possible thermals of a particular scrape. Heard a few times people finding scrapes. Peeing in them or maybe setting a camera only for a buck to come in and bust them as he heard the racket.
Personally, I wouldn't hunt the buck beds, but would hunt the big scrape we found above it or the funnels on the side hill near them and just put multiple days into the sits when the conditions are favorable. I've never had great success hunting over a specific bed, because they seem to use a variety of different beds within a larger bedding area. That's just my approach.
Nope, I do not wear rubber boots. I use leather or synthetic. I just did a video on this if you get a chance to check it out here's the link - th-cam.com/video/2tEN_ZX2FKI/w-d-xo.html
@BeauMartonik I appreciate you getting back to me on an important subject. I'm 61, and I still like hunting the southern tier on nys. I use to run my hounds up and down all night. Good footwear is important. I agree with you to stay clear of bushes and branches. I'm still learning every day. Im hunting on the ground now. Thanks again
Great video, I love seeing you and your dad enjoying the outdoors together - that's more important than all the bone we may hang on the wall.
100%! Thanks Dave. I'm very lucky that I get to do a lot of this stuff with my Dad.
Very helpful. I've been hunting these similar hills for 35+ years and always just used luck to fill a tag. Thank you and I will be following for sure.
Awesome walkthrough on what you and your Dad are looking for as you get ready for this upcoming season. Thanks for sharing that with us Beau.

You should explain how you would set up and hunt those buck beds.

Do you use high rubber boots hunting in the hills? I'm considering going to a light weight water proof boot for that type of hunting.

Wow is the Spartan Ford app that much better than OnX from what I’m seeing it shows way more detail than OnX
Beau, what pants are you wearing?
