Oh my God! I wasn't expecting that view at the end. I've not been down the Tram Road for couple of years. As a teenager in the seventies, Vernon's Lodge was my weekend fishing spot. We'd fish through the night. My best catch, a 6lb 4oz Tench! Wonderful days :-)
Great video, but quite sad as well, walked past there today, its all gone now, for yet more new tacky housing...The lives that were built from the many any employees.. Cheers for the video..
Many of my family members worked there, including my dad on the maintenance. He and my Grandad bowled for Vernons for many years even after leaving. I remember spending so many afternoons down there, with Presidents' Day being the annual highlight! Such a shame to see our industrial heritage disappearing like this, how many lives were saved during many conflicts with the bandages, etc., made right there? (I grew up in Lostock Hall!)
Such a sad sight,used to always look out for this mill complex when I returned home on leave on the train. I always thought it looked like a decent place to work compared to other mills in the area.
