Toyotas in general, if you're in UK look into insurance classes to get understanding of them.
I've come up with a bit of a list, obviously options are endless
Toyota aygo(cotroen c1, peugeot 107) - reliability as all 3 have same engine, cheap parts ins, both 3dr, 5dr
Ford focus mk1 (own one myself last 2 years) - 1.6 100hp, if you want something better than a hairdryer aygo(3dr, 5dr)
      Peugeot 206 1.4 petrol(reletively reliable, avoid 1.1 engine) cheap
Ford Ka (owned a mk1 - tend to rot) cheap to Insure and own)
Fiat grande punto 1.2 8v, easy to work on, relatively cheap and quite stylish.
At the end of the day, all depends what you're after(small car, big car, smaller engine for town or motorways?, do you need 5dr or are you happy with a 3dr(they tend to be higher ins)
Hope that helped abit of you read through it, drive safe.

I love these future classics videos. I’m looking to dip my toe into the market this year and this is very useful. As was the last one. I don’t mind if I get a garaged or driven car. As long as mileage isn’t too high. I do intend to garage when I get something to bring out for the odd sunny day. Merc or boxster from this list but really quite fancy the XKRS from the last list as I have been thinking Xkr. Keep up the great work. Thanks man

The old seat Leon Cupra (MK2) is an amazing car for under £10k, proper rocket ship for the money, was faster than its rivals like the astra vxr and focus st and got serious gains for a lot less money 😊

My #1 there would be the SL. I'd also look at the SLKs too, I think the folding tin top will be appreciated in the near future given the slackness of most manufacturers to revert to fabric tops (it's the 21st century people!).
I'd also consider the Alpha GTV - they were a wonderful design aesthetically and I'm told they're not bad in the driving department, seem cheap right now too. I agree on the TTs, their internal design is iconic and fascinating (Pagani use quirky shaped bits too though vastly more wild and upmarket as you'd expect). Some say Saab 900 convertibles, a good one is a nice way to get around.

The Fiat Coupé just gets better with age, such a nice car, especially with that engine. It'll be interesting to see if later scoobies get classic status, I feel like they don't add enough over the earlier ones.

I'd rather buy a car that's been driven but with full service history. Cars that have been garaged tend to look nice and have no rust but every bolt is seized and shit starts to go wrong the second you start putting miles on them. Great vid would happily take any of these

Pleased to admit I managed to grab a really nice 2003 WRX STI with 50k on the clock last year.
I paid over the odds for it and it had one or two issues that I discovered after the statutory warranty period had expired, but what the hey ...it has the Prodrive performance package so 300+ whp and a 0-60 apparently of 4.6 sec, I haven't timed it .............. yet ;-)
Thumbs up and respect for pronouncing Subaru properly 🙂

I do own a 1988 Mazda MX-6 GT Turbo in stick. I want to repair it, albeit it is in great shape. I've owned since it was new, and have taken good care of it. So I do have my classic rice racer, OEM. Very people know about the Generation 1 (1988-1992) MX-6. It has a 2.2 liter 4, Turbo engine which makes 145 bhp, 0-60 under 7 seconds. It's a fun car.

Here in the US, the only cars that may appreciate from that list are the S2000 and maybe the 350Z... STI are all driven into the ground and have a horribly unreliable engine and tendency to rust.. Maybe those who love understeer and replacing head gaskets love em.. not sure who else?

  • @andrewbarton8525

I prefer a car that's got around average millage and not sat for ages but used. However, full service history with bills for replacement of worn parts is a must. This summer I picked up a 2001 320CLK convertable with a Brabus B9S conversion. Averaged 8000 miles per year , full service history. Not perfect but bloody good condition for 2000 quid. Another 1000 or so exporting it to France and getting it on French plates. I'm not selling it , but I've been offered between 7 and 9k here even right hand drive. In the UK cheap as chips for now.....but like you said , will start dropping in numbers as scrapped and prices will rise. My wife's 1991 190e 2.3 is a good example. Bought for 500 euros 6 years ago. Now you can't get a basic 190e 2.0 in fair condition for under 2500 euros.

Fantastic selection, all well deserved...,and to add to your ever increasing list, (to complement the Honda S2000), would have to be the HONDA CR-Z HYBRID 2010-2015 GT.
This unbelievable Sports Car not only has a Hybrid power train but also comes with a truly fantastic Honda 6-Speed Manual 'shifter'....GRANTED, not the fastest vehicle on the Road, but what a looker...stunning.
Just 3844 MOT Registered and Running on the UK Roads, so rare also....I have a 2010 Plate with just 32k on the clock, ALREADY INCREASING IN VALUE, but not for sale, and used every day of the week....have a close look, drive one (if can find one)...you will not be disappointed....THAT GEARBOX CANNOT BE BETTERED IN MY OPINION....G.A.R.

Honda s2000 is the only one worth considering. it is easier winning lottery than finding an unmodified Golf4. Alpha and Fiat have a lot of issues and will make you poor. For Mazda, go for newer models, they are better. Nissans is not special enough. Mercedes: have fun will the rust and pay a fortune for fixing. Impreza is Impreza, you love or hate it. The egg Porsche is just awfull looking, the natural aspirated engine is nice though. Audi tt, has not aged well. if you like Playmobil, go for it and don't wonder spending more for oil than gas. If you like one, buy it for fun, but not for gaining value.
