This commercial is really cool.. The song is incredibly catchy and well arranged, listen to the guitar, strings and background vocals during the break between lyrics! Things were so much different then. Reminds me of the old days when Rockford Files was still on the air!
I remember this commercial! My family (Dad, mom, me and my baby sister) lived in Baton Rouge from early 76 when I was five to late 78 when I was seven years old and I absolutely loved it there! Went to La Belle Aire elementary school.
I remember that old sign when I was younger, it's too bad that the mall of nostalgia is no more, Now it is Bon Carre Technology Park and home to the former Baton Rouge Cablevision now Cox Communications I miss things about the past and some I don't miss...at least the Baton Rouge Theater is still there!
Oh yeah! Girl you were loud in there when they poked you!!! You were like, after this BULL S!!! I’m headed to Burger King and get me a triple deluxe burger!!!!
That theatre was the best... it could have been in any period movie it was so 80’s.... to this day I’ve never seen another theatre that was split by the main walk of the mall!!
I miss the Bon Marche twin Theatre. I remember seeing the Empire strikes back there. By chance have you found any photos of that theater anywhere? There are literally none on the Internet and I would love to see that theater again.
I remember this commercial. Who else had many happy times in that mall? Cortana never quite had the same effect. Does anyone remember Corporate Mall? It was downright depressing to walk in the mall after so many businesses closed. I still think there could have been a way to perk it back up. The Mall of Louisiana has too much traffic. I wish that Hammond Square had stayed an enclosed mall.
48 years old and proud to have been a part of this era...Bon Marche and Cortana Mall.
Did you go to Nam
Spent many an hour an Cortana back in the day

Really cool piece of BR nostalgia... I was born in BR(1968) and left La Belle Aire in Jan 78. Awesome to see the old BR is still around
I miss all of it too! Such good memories!
My first job was at the Piccadilly in 1979, but I was only 15 years old

I got my ears pierced at Bon Marche back in the very early 80's .....

I grew up near City Park. My mom really didn't like having to drive me "all the way out there" to Bon Marche.

I was 5 years old @ the time of this commercial, no racial tension , no war, just good clean fun with family and friends...miss those days.
WHERE IT ALL STARTED AND STOPPED

I do, but it was renamed esplanade plaza when went there!
I loved this mall. I too never really cared as much for Cortana mall. It felt too big and corporate.
Notice that the mall was all but done when it had to begin a security force.
I remember the esculator & the pet store! The movie theater & Morrisons/Piccadilly too in there!
Is the singer Barry Manilow?
What interesting is that Cortana Mall is now meeting the same fate trying to compete with Mall of Louisiana.
Lol I was thinking the exact same thing.
I ALLWAYS wear plaid sportscoats when trying out new compound bows!
The year I was born 1976
So you’re a daddy now? Do young guys call you in the middle of the night to go out and play?
@@fana406 Why do you want people to know that you're a clown? That seems like something you'd want to hide.
About the only mall I know that keeps on rocking is Lakeside in Metairie. Many others have gone defunct and it is still packed.
so is the mall of Louisiana. I saw a show on TV about all these abandonded malls all over the country
Of course it never stopped. Not like it did in 2001!
'There's no place like Holmes' D.H. Holmes Co. LTD
Never mind I remember that mall
Bon Marche literally means “inexpensive”.
Americans like inexpensive.
Where ere this mall were located in baton rouge
@Roland Moffett
Florida Blvd @ N Lobdell
You'll get shot in that area these days!
🅱on marche
Funny... Those silly jingles sound the same today as they did back then.
I hated them as kid but now I love them.
This song was very catchy and well produced. The crap on tv today is unlistenable.
@@Suddenlyits1960 Was about to say the same. It's all cheap electronic beeps and boops.
😰
wow the 70's sucked... glad I wasn't around.
Also for some hairy manpussy!!!
You suck for saying that. The ‘70s would’ve rejected you with an attitude like that.
