    This is my new favorite channel. Love the visuals of these reviews. And of course love the subject matter, owner of three Gorucks. 😎

    Always great when an all black bag is shown in front of a black background

    I have the Chuyin tactical CT21. Seems like the same kind of bag as the GR1

      Generally yes but prefer the Veilance Nomin pack’s form factor and simplicity.

    Not sure if this has been asked but wondering if this bag would be suitable as a bug out bag? Was considering the Uncharted Seventy2 Pro but for almost $600, figured I could piece things together for that price point. Thx.

      A hiking backpack for half as much will be lighter, more comfortable, more water redistant, and more spacious while being just as durable. I like the GR1 as a travel backpack because it's rectangular so it's easier to pack, but as BOB it's only ok. I like the Mystery Ranch Coulee 30 because it has a waistbelt and more accessible pockets.

    Goruck quality has gone down the drain in recent years. They're just not built the same.

      Agreed, I’ve seen lots of quality control issues coming from the US made packs. Not good enough for a $300+ bag!

      @@h4ck314 the Viet Nam made bags for GoRuck don’t seem to have the quality control issues. So if you want a GoRuck pack, I’d look there. Evergoods is also worth a look, as Jack Barley one of the owners, was one GoRuck’s chief designers. Evergoods has a pretty good line of mountain, travel, and everyday packs. Mystery Ranch is also a very good brand to checkout. They come from a long line of hiking and military packs. They offerer a little of everything, I think their best pack is either the 2 day assault, or 3 day assault packs.

    I used to LOVE goruck, but their quality, customer service, and overall company has gone downhill lately. They can’t seem to stock anything anymore, they stopped selling Vietnam bags which were a nice blend of quality and cost savings, they did away with their earned service discount they used to brag about…
    The bags IMO are still the nicest looking bags on the market, but I couldn’t recommend them anymore. If anyone else made a rectangular backpack shaped like a goruck, I’d probably buy that instead.

      They advertise as American Made, so yeah, they would stop the Vietnam versions. Also, they still do earned service discount.

    Yet another puff piece passing off as a legitimate "review." Maybe the guys at Carryology will hire you for their articles.

    Good looking bag but what makes it worth spending 10 times the amount you can pick up a bag from most sports stores? One thing I noticed that makes this bag a non starter for me is no lockable zippers. It hard to believe this bag was designed by an ex-military and didn’t include a way to secure your gear with a simple lock. Thieves can walk along side you and just take your things without you noticing. It’s a shame for the lack of a few extra bucks this isn’t a secure backpack.

    • @drew90
      @drew90 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Because those bags at the sport stores you’re talking about are sold by companies that use boarder line slave labor to create their products. Underage people working for mere dollars. The GR1 line is made in the US..I feel good knowing my hard earned money is going back into America’s hands..paying someone’s salary here vs some POS that probably hates us. So yeah, Buy American.

      One reason it’s expensive is it has one of/if not the best warranties there is. Lifetime warranty, if anything breaks they’ll fix it/replace it for free.
      It’ll basically last you your entire life.
      I’m fairly new to the “packs” but it I haven’t seen any of the big name packs I’ve come across have locks on their zippers

    • @James-zy4nc
      @James-zy4nc ปีที่แล้ว

      The materials and craftsmanship are FAR better than some cheap department store pack. It doesn’t have locks because most people don’t want lockable zippers on a daily pack.
