    Man, the last scenario you mentioned is the exact boat I'm in. I am extremely into custom PCs and this is my second build. In fact, I am writing this comment on the PC I built from scratch for our church. We've had some major issues with video playback in pro7, but that shouldn't be happening very often from now on. We are looking forward to using OBS to encode our ATEM feed using a BMD Duo 2, but after I saw this video, it might just be worth it to switch from boxcast and use the Resi software encoder instead of getting Restream for cheaper. The pc should definitely be up for some encoding as it is an 8-core Ryzen 7 with 32gb of ram and RX 5500XT, this machine was purpose built by me for encoding and I'm glad to see we will have the option to use Resi without buying a $1000 encoder which we already have the hardware for (RX 5500XT GPU as the encoding chip on a GPU is completely separate from the rest of the card). Someone actually recommended Resi to us a few months ago, but we decided to use OBS instead as our machine was going to already have an encoder on the GPU, but this seems to solve that. I do agree with your concern with reliability, and you're probably right to "Let them be the guinea pigs," and just hold-off on it for a bit, this PC has only been active for a couple weeks now and the team is really going to want the change to slow down for a bit anyways. I actually got sent this video by one of my fellow media team members, so it's nice to see that other people enjoy your content as well. Love your videos! God Bless!

    for the price of a one month of "starter web" you could buy a raspberry Pi install a RTMP server that will push to all the locations you want and have money left over for a Little Caesar's pizza party. or save for a few months and build a server to do the same AND record all sources (granted it'll take a lot of tech savvy) but I'm not one for subscription based models particularly when it comes to handling MY data, video, audio etc.

    Thank you for doing this video! I am someone who is just interested in things like this, and I want to point something out about ProPresenter. Renewed Vision did not plan on bringing ProPresenter to Windows when they first made it, so the code base for Mac and Windows are completely different, so that may be why ProPresenter on Mac is so much better.

    • @codynpatterson
      @codynpatterson 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey there! ProPresenter 7 actually was built from the ground up to work on PC. Most users have found it to be as powerful if not more reliable and powerful than the same Mac variant. Of course both are reliable now in November after many month of focus on bug fixes.

      ProPresenter 7 is much better, but it was ProPresenter 6 I had in mind when writing the comment. My point is: the code base is completely different, so they can't get everything exactly the same on both. None of this is anything I would hold against Renewed Vision. They have to maintain two code bases, meaning they have to maintain both, and make features match on both, which is crazy hard work!

    Looking at buying an iMac for our sound booth. Any thoughts on what specs for a flawless operation. I'm aware of the "minimum" requirements; those are rarely for optimal performance.
    I'd be planning on using the Blackmagic Mini for the camera inputs. The audio is coming from Dante. That should all work together from what I've seen as far as configuring the video/audio inputs, correct? Dante is like that unicorn that's rarely talked about; which, is why I appreciate your channel so much!

    • @mahall85
      @mahall85 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Mini Pro ISO is just a video switcher. That has little to no impact on the quality of your livestream. Resi is a service provider/hosting platform that offers a proprietary encoding that stabilizes your stream... and no one can really beat it. ProPresenter now offers a software solution that bypasses the need for a hardware encoder (a savings of ~$1200).

    • @ailo14

    • @mahall85
      @mahall85 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ailo14 But it will not encode directly to the Resi platform. THAT is the key. My church uses a very similar setup to Jake’s church... our feed runs from cameras -> ATEM Mini Pro -> ProPresenter -> Resi RAY encoder -> internet. Your Mini Pro ISO probably hits some sort of encoder (software?) before hitting the internet, and that setup is not compatible with Resi.

    • @ailo14
      @ailo14 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@mahall85 no it doesn’t. That’s the major difference with the ATEM MINI. The PRO ISO encodes directly to the internet. No further software or hardware needed. It streams to the internet directly and never had any issues once.

      @@ailo14 If you have something that works, great. I’m just trying to explain the difference, and the difference is Resi. Resi offers a stability in stream that you simply can’t get from other places, no matter your setup. It’s not just gear, Resi is your streaming provider.

    We just bought a iMac and pro presenter 7 we were previously using an older pc with song show - so it’s a big change and a big learning curve- we have been live streaming on a separate computer via one camera our budget and our knowledge is limited, we have been taking everything one step at a time we recently started running our audio direct from a separate mix on the board - getting the mix going out to the live stream set good has been a chore - it gets better every week though. I have been researching how to utilize the iMac and pro presenter for the live stream, the part I am most concerned with is the automated switching.
