Props to you for being responsible with your success! I too often see content creators living beyond their means when they "make it," and it makes me happy to know that you have that wiggle room. As others have said here, if something did happen to Snap permanently, I'd definitely stick around for whatever videos you make. You're really entertaining and down-to-earth.

@Shooshpa-z2e it’s frustrating getting pixels and variants for cards you never use. They should give you variants based on amount of times a card is played. I have 5 iron man variants and I never play him. I play destroy decks and barely get variants in shop for cards I always use.

Based on my experience working within these kind of corporate structures, I wouldn’t be surprised if SD asked Nuverse multiple times if they would be affected and were told no. Bad info could have flowed from Bytedance and even the U.S. Govt. It just takes one link in the chain making the wrong assumption for communication to break down.

During all the conversations regarding monetization and card acquisition around marvel snap I'm very surprised nuverse was never brought up as a talking point. Publishers are in charge of large parts of monetization decision making for live service games. And cards are how card games make money. So a lot of if not all the talk of acquisition should have been pushed at nuverse, and yet I never heard their name come up once.

That is really what it sounded like to me. I would be surprised if it was basically solely driven by him, more likely something he is significantly partnered in but it does sound like getting directly involved in the game design space which is cool. I look forward to the full announcement

I don't believe the conspiracy theories - meaning I'm sure Second Dinner was blindsided by this. But unexpected things like this are when you are supposed to spend the goodwill you've build by having a great game and monetize it fairly. Unfortunately, SD has failed spectacularly on monetization and card acquisition since launch and this might just be the tipping point from which they can't recover.
I can't be the only one who thinks this, but I haven't seen anyone else express this theory. So SD made a deal with Nuverse to help get their game published. Then, once Nuverse saw how much of a hit they had with Marvel Snap, they tried to find ways to monetise it further. So the terrible card acquisition, money-grabbing, etc. is mandated by Nuverse and not from SD who probably just want to make a great game that they and everyone else love. And devs at SD can't talk about it or agree that card acquisition sucks, etc. because of whatever NDA-like terms might be in their agreement with Nuverse. I know this is pretty much all just speculation, but I think it tracks with so many other stories we've heard of where executives in the publishing companies are the ones who screw over gamers with greed while the devs just want to do what they love doing. I've spent a fair amount of money on this game over the last couple years and it never occurred to me that someone would just flip a switch and take all that content away. The law banning them allows the president give them a 90 day extension. We swear in the new president tomorrow. The outgoing president said he would leave it up to the new one. The new one said he would give them the extension. ByteDance would have been fine to stay up until Monday in the US. Personally I think they're playing for sympathy, and I think it's working.
funnily enough i'm currently outside the US right now so I wasn't effected by this and didn't realize until I saw your community post last night i got a lot of thoughts about it; on one hand i agree that Second Dinner probably should have had contingencies in place just in case something happened. On the other, though, if they were assured by their publisher "you won't be effected, continue as normal" then they would have no reasonable way to have expected this could effect them. i guess my opinion hinges on how much SD knew and when; given that they seemed to be genuinely taken off guard i'm willing to give some grace. the people spreading conspiracy theories don't get that grace from me, however. come on guys, cut that out, that helps no one. Think about it: this situation in no way helps SD make money; if anything it's going to *loose* them money in the long term (both from the fact that people literally cannot access the store to purchase packs or gold right now, to the fact that this might cause more people to loose trust in the game). I know a lot of people have sunk way more money than me into this game, but my story is this: I only started playing in the last month or two, right as the Surtur season pass ended. I had a really bad year financially, so I was strictly F2P. More financial struggles hit both my wife and I, so I was still F2P. Despite that, my wife scraped some money together and bought me a $100 gold bundle yesterday for my birthday, only for the game to go offline literally three hours later. I swear, I felt like the little rabbit kid in Robin Hood when the Sheriff of Nottingham comes in and steals the little coin he got for his birthday.
With the snap ban I've mostly been upset or worried about not being able to help my alliance out, get the daily rewards and most of all my favorite creators such as yourself suffering or leaving the marvel snap scene.
I hope they revamp the card acquisition. This is an opportunity To advertise when it comes back, to say hey all returning players will get this amount of rewards/compensation, and cards will now be easier to get etc.
How it affected me Given the last few months i dont join unless there are prizes for weekly login/events or a mystery varient in personal goals in alliances or just that bored. Though i still get to 25 goals conpleted weekly. Honestly, i was planning on logging in getting my daily prize for logging in, get my free 25 credits, glance at the shop even though i barely have any gold and probably left the app. I dont really care for the game, the main reason i still have it is for the fun it brought me the last few years and deep part of me wants the game to get better. I do hope Marvel Snap can change some of their systems so it can be fun just like how it once was!
Man, the last 24 hours have felt so freeing for me, personally! Not having to worry about logging in and grinding missions has been a relief. But, then, I’ve been falling out of love with the game and debating quitting for months, but couldn’t bring myself to do it. Especially when I think of when I quit for 10 months in 2023 and then ended up coming back, but “had” to spend hundreds of dollars to catch up. If I quit again, I don’t think I will ever come back, knowing how hard and expensive it is to return to this game. Contrast that with Hearthstone, who have made additions to the game like Catch-Ups packs, free pack grants, and a week to play with 6 or 7 meta decks and you pick one to keep at the end of that week. All of that makes it so easy to return. Anyway, I am secretly hoping it takes another day or two to come back to ensure I manage to break away from this game for good.
Hopefully they DO fix this soon! I didn't get my daily gold and everything like normal for the first time really 😭 At least they said they'd compensate
I recently uninstalled within the past few days just due to boredom. I started playing when Miles Morales was the season pass card. I’ve purchased almost every battle pass and have been watching you since I started playing. I may have lost interest in the game but I haven’t lost interest in watching your videos. I was joking about it and reading discord prior to the ban, and since the game was still on it didn't kick me out. The second I closed it though I couldn't log back in and was like "Oh..." Of course people connected to the internet immediately found a way to keep playing, but I do worry for the population as a whole that john doe guy who plays 1 hour every night after work just deletes the app since it wont work.

Personally if it comes back I’ll be back like it never happened as I’ve put too much time and resources into it to just ditch it, but I definitely want compensation for this especially since there was no official warning. I get it if they didn’t know but as a business when something like this happens to your customers regardless of whose fault it is, just compensation is deserved. When I say compensation I mean like I want some keys, or tokens as in 1-2,000+ minimum, which I don’t think is too much to ask considering the circumstances. But I love Marvel Snap as a game but this definitely will shake my faith and will leave me questioning buying battle passes and spending money on it in the future unless it’s a broken cracked meta warping card. So yes I’m definitely frustrated and upset, but am I ready to jump off no, I’m hoping for the best that it comes back. I'm affected, I don't really blame SD. Just keeping up with my usual comp is fine by me. As far as I understand the underlying law (ianal) ByteDance voluntarily shut themselves down in the US for their own reasons. Both current and incoming administrations had already said they would pause the ban for 90 days, which is built into the law and didn't need any new law passed to do.

As someone who doesn't really play everyday and only plays about one or two weeks at a time with a week or two break, this hasn't really affected me any. I know it's affected other people who maybe only play this game and that's awful, we hate to see that, but me personally I didn't even notice until I saw your community post. I hope it gets fixed pretty quickly as TT was back up and running within 16 hours of being "banned," but I also hope that this scares SD a little bit into going "hey we lost a large portion of our community, we need to treat them better so this doesn't become the new norm when it's back up and running." Trying to see the good with the bad I suppose. And if it's not fixed tomorrow, I'd better see a Nord/ Surfshark VPN-sponsored video tomorrow just because it would be hilarious and passive aggressive. Marvel snap makes hard to get cards when they release a new card every week especially if your the one doesn’t spend money at all besides the season pass.
It made me jump, but honestly I’m just a lil bummed it happened during the community event. I was trying to roll for moonstone again and rack up more wins to get those variants. I thought the community event was cool, as much as it might impact deck diversity and lead to obvious meta and counter play situations that can be unfortunate. I like it. I like devil dino/collector.

I don't believe the conspiracy theories - meaning I'm sure Second Dinner was blindsided by this. But unexpected things like this are when you are supposed to spend the goodwill you've build by having a great game and monetize it fairly. Unfortunately, SD has failed spectacularly on monetization and card acquisition since launch and this might just be the tipping point from which they can't recover.
That's a great perspective. They've burned a lot of trust, so it's not there when they actually deserve it.
I can't be the only one who thinks this, but I haven't seen anyone else express this theory.
So SD made a deal with Nuverse to help get their game published. Then, once Nuverse saw how much of a hit they had with Marvel Snap, they tried to find ways to monetise it further. So the terrible card acquisition, money-grabbing, etc. is mandated by Nuverse and not from SD who probably just want to make a great game that they and everyone else love. And devs at SD can't talk about it or agree that card acquisition sucks, etc. because of whatever NDA-like terms might be in their agreement with Nuverse.
I know this is pretty much all just speculation, but I think it tracks with so many other stories we've heard of where executives in the publishing companies are the ones who screw over gamers with greed while the devs just want to do what they love doing.

Like you said. it definitely shakes my trust in Second Dinner. I've spent a fair amount of money on this game over the last couple years and it never occurred to me that someone would just flip a switch and take all that content away. I'm going to keep playing, but unless they give me some reason to believe that this won't just happen again at some point I'm not going to be giving them any more of my money.

This is just my opinion, but you asked 😅 I live in the US, from my perspective it seems like this was really ByteDance's choice to shut down. The law banning them allows the president give them a 90 day extension. We swear in the new president tomorrow. The outgoing president said he would leave it up to the new one. The new one said he would give them the extension. ByteDance would have been fine to stay up until Monday in the US. Personally I think they're playing for sympathy, and I think it's working.

funnily enough i'm currently outside the US right now so I wasn't effected by this and didn't realize until I saw your community post last night
i got a lot of thoughts about it; on one hand i agree that Second Dinner probably should have had contingencies in place just in case something happened. On the other, though, if they were assured by their publisher "you won't be effected, continue as normal" then they would have no reasonable way to have expected this could effect them. i guess my opinion hinges on how much SD knew and when; given that they seemed to be genuinely taken off guard i'm willing to give some grace.
the people spreading conspiracy theories don't get that grace from me, however. come on guys, cut that out, that helps no one. Think about it: this situation in no way helps SD make money; if anything it's going to *loose* them money in the long term (both from the fact that people literally cannot access the store to purchase packs or gold right now, to the fact that this might cause more people to loose trust in the game).

Making a career on the internet work is always pretty shaky. hopefully SNAP can get back some good will in the coming months because this really is a fun game and I'd be sad to put it down for good :(

I know a lot of people have sunk way more money than me into this game, but my story is this: I only started playing in the last month or two, right as the Surtur season pass ended. I had a really bad year financially, so I was strictly F2P. More financial struggles hit both my wife and I, so I was still F2P. Despite that, my wife scraped some money together and bought me a $100 gold bundle yesterday for my birthday, only for the game to go offline literally three hours later. I swear, I felt like the little rabbit kid in Robin Hood when the Sheriff of Nottingham comes in and steals the little coin he got for his birthday.
Oh man. That sucks for you both. I’m so sorry. Hopefully they’ll get the game back up so that money isn’t wasted.
With the snap ban I've mostly been upset or worried about not being able to help my alliance out, get the daily rewards and most of all my favorite creators such as yourself suffering or leaving the marvel snap scene.

How it affected me
Given the last few months i dont join unless there are prizes for weekly login/events or a mystery varient in personal goals in alliances or just that bored. Though i still get to 25 goals conpleted weekly. Honestly, i was planning on logging in getting my daily prize for logging in, get my free 25 credits, glance at the shop even though i barely have any gold and probably left the app. I dont really care for the game, the main reason i still have it is for the fun it brought me the last few years and deep part of me wants the game to get better. I do hope Marvel Snap can change some of their systems so it can be fun just like how it once was!
Man, the last 24 hours have felt so freeing for me, personally! Not having to worry about logging in and grinding missions has been a relief. But, then, I’ve been falling out of love with the game and debating quitting for months, but couldn’t bring myself to do it. Especially when I think of when I quit for 10 months in 2023 and then ended up coming back, but “had” to spend hundreds of dollars to catch up. If I quit again, I don’t think I will ever come back, knowing how hard and expensive it is to return to this game.
Contrast that with Hearthstone, who have made additions to the game like Catch-Ups packs, free pack grants, and a week to play with 6 or 7 meta decks and you pick one to keep at the end of that week. All of that makes it so easy to return.
Anyway, I am secretly hoping it takes another day or two to come back to ensure I manage to break away from this game for good.
Hopefully they DO fix this soon! I didn't get my daily gold and everything like normal for the first time really 😭 At least they said they'd compensate

I recently uninstalled within the past few days just due to boredom. I started playing when Miles Morales was the season pass card. I’ve purchased almost every battle pass and have been watching you since I started playing. I may have lost interest in the game but I haven’t lost interest in watching your videos. I thought I had got banned myself this is much worse oh my.
I was joking about it and reading discord prior to the ban, and since the game was still on it didn't kick me out. The second I closed it though I couldn't log back in and was like "Oh..." Of course people connected to the internet immediately found a way to keep playing, but I do worry for the population as a whole that john doe guy who plays 1 hour every night after work just deletes the app since it wont work.

My only "conspiracy" as to why second dinner wasmt told would be that byte dance wanted to get disney involved against the ban.
Likelihood of it being true is tiny but if I had direct access to the company that legislated copyright terms to what they are now I'd poke that bear.

Personally if it comes back I’ll be back like it never happened as I’ve put too much time and resources into it to just ditch it, but I definitely want compensation for this especially since there was no official warning. I get it if they didn’t know but as a business when something like this happens to your customers regardless of whose fault it is, just compensation is deserved. When I say compensation I mean like I want some keys, or tokens as in 1-2,000+ minimum, which I don’t think is too much to ask considering the circumstances. But I love Marvel Snap as a game but this definitely will shake my faith and will leave me questioning buying battle passes and spending money on it in the future unless it’s a broken cracked meta warping card. So yes I’m definitely frustrated and upset, but am I ready to jump off no, I’m hoping for the best that it comes back.
Plus I love your videos Regis out of any Snap content creator (nothing against others, like them too though), you make them fun and funny and entertaining, not just in the game play and deck builds, but the interactions and comedy you throw in with your audience, sometimes I play one just to after a long day to just chill and relax. I'm affected, I don't really blame SD. Just keeping up with my usual comp is fine by me. As far as I understand the underlying law (ianal) ByteDance voluntarily shut themselves down in the US for their own reasons. Both current and incoming administrations had already said they would pause the ban for 90 days, which is built into the law and didn't need any new law passed to do.

As someone who doesn't really play everyday and only plays about one or two weeks at a time with a week or two break, this hasn't really affected me any. I know it's affected other people who maybe only play this game and that's awful, we hate to see that, but me personally I didn't even notice until I saw your community post. I hope it gets fixed pretty quickly as TT was back up and running within 16 hours of being "banned," but I also hope that this scares SD a little bit into going "hey we lost a large portion of our community, we need to treat them better so this doesn't become the new norm when it's back up and running." Trying to see the good with the bad I suppose. And if it's not fixed tomorrow, I'd better see a Nord/ Surfshark VPN-sponsored video tomorrow just because it would be hilarious and passive aggressive. Those are my two cents anyways.
