It's actually her job to check she's still breathing 😅 I mean not saying she doesn't genuinely care, but that's medical necessity
Side note on the other reply during anesthesia breathing can indicate pain levels and how awake a patient is. So, there always needs to be someone monitoring vitals to ensure the patient is stable and remains anesthetized.

That’s really cool that this veterinary community is so willing to invite others to assist with difficult/odd procedures. I don’t know if it’s the norm, but it definitely should be. I love learning, and watching/hearing about other people learn is really exciting for me.

Having had a tooth abscess at the root, I can totally empathize with the pain that must have been causing. I guess root canals work on tigers as well. She'll definitely feel better after that.
Try having a root canal on BOTH sides of your mouth. It was very irritating and very painful. I was lucky to only have one abscess in my tooth too.

My parents cat, a big fluffy grey tabby, had a top canine snap off that we didn't notice until feeding him treats and realised that's why he wasn't eating his wet food as much. When he went to the vet, they said the root was exposed and they'd need to remove it. While having surgery they found a huge infection in his top jaw and had to remove other teeth, including his other canine to remove all the infected tissue. He now always gets his top lip stuck on his bottom teeth and always has his tongue poking out. It's super interesting to see it on a super sized moggy. Glad they were able to help her feel better ❤️
remember this is why you do regular visits... im glad its fixed but you as a pet owner have to be responsible enough to do visits.... or atlest get things to clean there teeth.... that cat didnt deserve to go through all that mess plus now has permanent damage....

I've had the same pain in my abscess tooth and it's awful ,just think she couldn't even tell anyone, but it's a good job they keep a careful eye on her so she didn't have to suffer too long .Just think when she notices her tooth no longer hurts she will know that the humans have done something to help her .

I have a miniature Soraya living with me here on an Irish hillside called Millie. Throughout this episode she lay purring across my chest! Never appreciated being well endowed until she made an appearance, last June, in my life. My miniature poodle was stretched across my thighs! How can humans not love these heavenly creatures? 😍

I love cats big and small but tigers are absolutely gorgeous creatures, majestic and cunning. It’s touching when the carer actually cares for every detail of the animals heath n well being. Wow! She’s truly beautiful and her cubs are too. Wonderful work by everyone.
She’s a smart cat. Sad she has to be sedated under such a stressful situation. She knows, but thank goodness she’ll get that painful toothache taken care of.

Tigers are my favorite of all big cats and animals in general. They are beautiful, would love to work around them. Healthy respect for her size and strength. I have had a root canal before and worked for a dentist, they look horrible. Good on Dr Chris.

I've had a root canal done. This was really neat to see the same procedure being done on one of my favourite animals. I'm sure she felt so much better once all the numbing & anesthesia wore off. But given the significant change to such an important tooth I'm wondering how much it may have affected her ability to eat the way she used to.
I know this is months late but!
I wanted to say they have 4 main teeth they use to eat! So really her one is just kinda shaven, still sharp enough to eat some stuff. Maybe not as strong as before but she has the other 3 teeth to make up for it 😊

Amazing and lovingly done care from all involved. ❤ But would it be possible to get behind a "blind" to shoot the anesthesia? Maybe if the tiger didn't see the human, it's stress level wouldn't be so high before the shot. All "kept" animals deserve the treatment we see with BondiVet and those he associates with. There's a special place in heaven for people like these.😇🥰😘

Huh. When Scott over in England operated on a tiger, the staff usually around the tiger had to be away until all was over. To ensure they don't loose the trust of that tiger.

This video shows just how many people are involved in a procedure like this one. I'd like to give a big shout out to all these wonderful people who are making sure that the anaesthesia is exactly right, so Suraya doesn't feel any pain during the root canal work. I've had 4 of these done and they weren't that bad, but they take a long time to do, and they're not pleasant! Doing 1 root canal on a tiger must be the equivalent of doing about 50 of them on people, plus there's always the possibility that the vet might be attacked! So, apart from the procedure itself, the anaesthetic is the MOST IMPORTANT PART. Love from Amanda in Melbourne, Australia ❤️

I made a gold tooth for a tiger here in Dallas they came to the lab and asked if I would do it and it was a pretty big chunk of gold but I was paying like $200 an ounce back then, I should have been buying an ounce every week and putting it back. But they sent me pictures of the tiger once they got the tooth in look pretty wicked to see a tiger with a gold tooth
