Agree with the others! I’d like to hear more about the athletes during the event and who’s where etc. These ladies deserve it! The commentary was very distracting and a bit disappointing.

Not even a list of the athletes and which position/lane number they have etc. is being shown in the beginning … wow.
And seriously, the athletes have to run up/down stairs? In Australia it was up/downhill, in Europe it was on flat ground all the way. That’s no fair conditions at all!
And I agree with the other posts here: show the athletes, not the commentators!
Thee semi finals course may be different between regions but it doesn't matter. The athletes are only competing for spots within their region and they are running the same course in that aspect.

Wow…that was shockingly bad coverage of this event. 8:30 before they even start talking about the actual live event and not just fluffy nonsense. Almost two minutes in before you even see video of the field again. Ridiculous.
The fact that they didn’t even know the heat winning times because they were talking about other pointless stuff is the reason CrossFit isn’t seeing the numbers they used. Discuss the athletes, not how you like your steak cooked. 😒

I wanted to watch this but had a hard time with the commentary, I'd rather hear about the athletes and see them vs the commentators stories and faces.
Why are these 3 commentators? Add Crenshaw tirelessly talking as if he's all knowing and I'm out
It's wild how much Crossfit is butchering this years coverage. If you want any shot at being taken seriously as a sport you need to cover the biggest events of the year properly. It's literaly just 2: Semis and the actual Games. The damn opening day in Europe had no (proper) coverage, with all due respect to the crossfit podcast that did their best with the limited resources they were given. But when it actually got going it was definitely good the rest of the weekend. This one was atrocious, not even gonna go into it. Somehow Oceania is having the best coverage despite extremely few of the top athletes even contending there.
You need to learn from how extremely spectator unfriendly sports and games like Cycling and Chess invested massively in their coverage and absolutely blew up. There is no reason why chess should have a full studio and expert commentators doing play by plays, but fuck me does it make it a lot more enjoyable to watch. And cycling where physical audiences literally see the competitors for a few seconds of an hours long race managed to make TdF one of the most watched events in the summer. Invest, do it right and grow.
Coming from one who actually enjoys the sport and wants to watch it: this is unwatchable. And if even your existing base thinks that, how in the hells are you gonna bring in new audiences and grow the sport. A few good commentators and camera operators is a neccessary investment to make competitive crossfit less of a joke and more a of a serious and enjoyable sport to watch.
I've watched the Giro d'Italia for the last three weeks and it's been awesome even if Tadej Pogacar dominated the whole thing. Even the Tour of Norway this week has better coverage than this WCC and Norway doesn't invest much in that bike race. CFHQ priorities seem to be only about them. Such a pity. These athletes deserve better.
@@dawnc5797 Exactly, 100% agree! Cycling is essentially about getting from A to B the fastest, and it takes hours. The core concept is so damn boring. But they have invested in making it interesting to watch with sprint points, climbing points, team dynamics, live metrics, etc. Crossfit, on the other hand, has variety built in as a fundamental concept. Use it!
People like to feel engaged with the sport when they're watching, not hear commentators talk about themselves and their own gym experiences or get Crossfit sponsors shoved down their throats every other minute. They can make a podcast for that.
I want to hear about the athletes: What are their max lifts? What are their best running times, max heartrate, and VO2 max? I want live HR monitors to see how close they are to redlining. Even some chess tournaments, a game where the players are sitting for 4-8 hours, have that! Why not the sport where anaerobic capacity is one of the core features?
I want to see world records for events be broken or at least mentioned, PRs set and acknowledged. I want the focus on how hard what these insane athletes are doing actually is.
Yeesh. The coverage and commentary feels like a such a downgrade after really enjoying the European semi coverage last week.
Read four comments, got less than two minutes into the video and turn it off. Everybody’s correct. I guess the commentators are the athletes now.

Visually - we dont need to see the leader do the whole workout. Fans want to see all the athletes and know where they are. Get the cameras down on the floor! Cover it better with the cameras please!!

@crossfit so many people are commenting on seeing less of commentators…listen. People are here to see the athletes. Also Torian had good life coverage, not released the day after. It’s not that hard, clearly they have their shit together.
Would love to have more play by play of what’s happening letting us know the names of the athletes and less screen time for announcers.
Take a hint from your audience. I know these are prerecorded but next time do what Oceania CrossFit did. More drone footage and less cameras on the commentators. We dont watch these for them. We watch these to watch the athletes.

How can you be covering a sporting event without actually covering the sporting event that is going on in front of them? These commentators think they are more important than the athletes. Maybe it is the Commentators Games Semi and not the CrossFit Games Semi?

What a disgrace! Way to much talk about the commentarors them self, we dont care that this guy lost 70lb and how his training is going, i mean good for him, but start a podcast for people who wanna hear about it. We are here for what is supposed to be a professional sport, so show that and talk about tha, there is a bunch of stuff happening while they talk about food and drinks and all other crap, If you invite a newbi into the commentary dont give him so much air tim explaning all parts of his life story, while there is important things happening in the event. Torian pro runs the event by themselves Crossfit hq dosen't run it at all.
Torian pro controls the whole broadcast as far as I'm aware own sponers etc. So the level of amazing broadcasting with Oceania is all down to those at Torian Pro.
