We had a good time performing that night...but an even better time in our camps...reconnecting...and--every now and then--forgetting that we were old...we were just on a field with horns and drums and flags and friends...God Bless Bill Cook.
It's amazing how well they played after so many years. It makes a little more sense though when you realize that the oldest alumni at the time were still just in their mid-forties.
Finally an HD video of this! This corps is the reason I’m pursuing music ed! I wish they never folded and left the activity, I would’ve marched with them in a heartbeat lol.
At times I forgot that the sound was coming from the right side of my screen not the actual performance 20+ years ago Their final number was FUQ'n clean! Star existed while I was in the Commandant's Own and then as I took a short hiatus from drum corps. I think I only saw them live on and that was at the '87 DCI Finals in Madison. I have zero memory of them. It's only in the past week that I've taken the time to look at their shows. Holy crap! The '90 - 93 shows were brilliant. I'm sorry I discounted Star when I was introduced to Lori Nelson.
Hands down the best alumni corps performance in terms of brass, percussion, pit. Some of the other alumni performances were great because they marched and brought back some cool moves (Madison, 27th Lancers, Bluecoats, SCV to name a few) but none of them SOUNDED like this. I am not sure the corps competing that night could have played those charts better than Star alumni did. Incredible music. The arrangements were ahead of their time in the 80s and 90s, and they still feel fresh and alive today. It's too bad we don't have Star of Indiana as a drum corps today.
This is cool it carries with it a deeper message that things in life that are not easy to attain take a lot of effort discipline and determination they are meaningful and life changing, in todays world of instant gratification and entitlement where so many put themselves on a pedestal it's important to remain humble and understand that great results require hard work and sacrifice.
What a bunch of freaks! And I mean that in the nicest, most complimentary way! You guys sounded awesome! I bet if you had the time, you could have marched a hell of a show at the Alumni Performance! Any plans for a future alumni show?
Somewhere I have a bootleg (by someone in the corps) of the first time the alums played "Praise Ye." After the cutoff, someone said "PLEASE say that's on tape!"
I marched in corps this year and saw this live. It was insane. I don’t think an alumni group has ever sounded that good ever.
Thank you
That’s seriously impressive for an alumni corp. I don’t think many of the corps today could have played that this well.
It's star of indiana. Duh

What years did you march Star? I was in Madison '88 and '89, then I got to witness '90 - '93 from the stands.
@@totesgene Just '89...made the mistake of not doing '90...loved the Madison 1989 hornline!!!
oh my god, I can't believe it sounds as good as this.
my god this is amazing.
what a gift.

They had the best of everything.
Amazing performance. Star, Phantom, and the Cavaliers were the "trinity" for me back in the '80's and '90's. I miss that era so much. Bring Star back!

Star of Indiana is absolutely timeless man. Year after year culminating into Medea. What an era man. Jesus Christ!!!!
DCI owes a massive debt of gratitude to Bill Cook
The ageouts got a nice treat when the hornline circled up around us after the ceremony and played some of the segments again.
where on EARTH did a recording and video THIS GOOD COME FROM?!
🙂
After an achievement like this you're really just gonna hit us with that smug face? Well played...@@BOX6Performances
It's amazing how many layers there are to Star's Arragments!
I sure do miss them. They did absolutely incredible things, both musically and visually. One of the undoubted greats!
bring this corp back!
I am 100% on this as well.

Crown kind of filled that void in terms of brass, but for everything else, yes please.

Same. It was amazing.
Smokin hot performance level for Alumni Corps. 😎
man.... This is about the greatest thing ever.
If Cadets ever have an alumni corps, i'm SO being part of that! wouldn't miss an experience like this!

This corps was ripped with talent. This talent, the work and George Zingali drill made them legendary.

@@rifle2563 Yep....for ones doing a marching show, 27th is the standard, tho.
anyone know what the impact at 4:57 is from?
That was the opening to Star's 1990 show, Belshazzar's Feast

I'd love to see Star come back. Seeing the emotion on everyone afterwards. Just great. ⭐🩷
