It is honestly so hard to do justice to such a beautiful moment in world history, and both you and Sabaton have done such an amazing job of it. At the end of 1914, after months and months hard, brutal fighting, the frontline soldiers decided to simply lay down their weapons and celebrate the birth of a man who went about his life preaching kindness and compassion. No wonder Sabaton literally took years to achieve a song they were satisfied with!
One wonders when looking at photos of the truce how many of those men who were there on Christmas 1914 lived to be reunited with those who they shared that Christmas

Yes, it is one of Anahata's best covers. The ones that *might* be slightly better (how can you improve perfection?) are their first (Elan, Nightwish) and Yggdrasil (Brothers of Meta) which was so much better than the original (which is was also pretty good by itself) that the lawyers made them remove it. Shakespeare was right. Henry VI, Part 2, Act IV, Scene 2 (yes, I know, William was conflicted about it).
Great cover, and great descriptive text with the use of old photographs of the actual truce. You add a haunting aspect to Sabaton's awesome song, although you can't manage the depth of the male voices emulating those soldiers at the front as Sabaton do (or what must have been a huge budget for their amazing video). I was a little disappointed that you didn't finish with Floor's amazing wordless solo ending though. I know you can if you reach for it. So something added, and something lost - I declare a tie! And that is no mean achievement for you. The generals were furious, as once the truce had happened, the soldiers could not be forced to shoot at their newfound friends, and whole divisions had to be rotated away from the front lines and relocated because they were just firing over the heads of the "enemy" or at their sandbag defences instead of at them. And it is hard to discipline soldiers who are firing in the right direction but missing. It would not have even happened if the war had not ground to a halt and near stalemate, with opposing sides within earshot and each pinning the other - so close that they could recognise each other by voice, even if it took the truce to connect face and voice. And it was spontaneous, breaking out in a number of sectors and spreading out. A great moment amid the horror of the war.
