agreed with everything you said. they can't outright send Murray to the bench because of ego and whatnot, so they're doing the next best thing. it's the best fit for everyone
My worry is messing up the chemistry when AG comes back. Unless he takes more minutes from Deandre Jordan and plays alongside Murray with some bench minutes
Murray on the bench is just a dumb decision. If you are only looking to make Russ feel better and not actually win games then sure Actual best decision is Gordon on the bench but no one wants to have that convo
@@rainofkhandaq6678 That is the worst decision. Gordon is a great defender on the wing. Russ and Braun hold their own. Without Gordon you have to bench Murray against starters and give him space with the opp.bench or he gets cooked all the time. When AG comes back, he and Russ or he and Brown can cover a little for Murray. In the end they will stagger minutes, AG already plays some minutes with Murray when Jokic is on the bench. The one getting fewer minutes will be Brown, and we'll see Deandre mostly on the bench.
If Russ had not played with the Lesilvergoat Lakers, his value would not have deteriorated to the point that the Nuggets could have ever afforded him. He is still so much better than he is getting paid and I pray he plays many more years and contends in multiple championships with the Nuggets. It is good to seen him in a setting where his skills are once again on full display and with a team that enjoys going to battle with him!
@@UGotSerbed Murray can play much more freely with the second unit. He can do his iso and make his Alley-oop passes. He is more effective than Westbrook at playing in isolation. Gordon and Murray should work extremely well with the second unit. The 5 with Westbrook, Murray, MPJ, Braun, Jokic is relevant. Because it is absolutely necessary to exploit the power of the pick & roll between Jokic and Westbrook which is Denver's best offensive weapon currently. This pick & roll is difficult to defend and forces opposing players to let go of either MPJ or Murray who find themselves open for a open shot.
@@UGotSerbed When Russell Westbrook is a starter, he records a statistic of 9 wins in 11 games. With an average of 11.4 points at 40.1% (33.8% from three-point range), 3.7 rebounds, 5.6 assists, 1.4 steals, and a total +/- of -69. I’d enjoy a breakdown the Nuggets defense, which is the only thing standing between them and another championship. Their perimeter defense is not good most of the time, but was exceptionally good in the third quarter (and much of the 4th) of the ATL game. If you go back and watch, you’ll see guys fighting around screens and just generally being pests to the ball handler, and it works.
Yea they play defense in spurts. They are best when Murray and Strawther are not on the floor but i don't want it to sound like i am blaming two players. Everyone is pretty mid at defense on The Nuggets. They don't have even one elite defensive player. They are mostly offensive players. The best defenders are: Russ, AG, CB, and PWat..... I don't know how many minutes these four have played with Big Jokic? I will look up the data to see how many minutes they've played together and check out the off/def ratings and net margin.... That should at least be an above average defensive five.... It's weird because even Murray picks up his defensive intensity when The Nuggets are close in the 4th qtr, so i think he is capable of playing better defense for his 34-38 minutes on the floor. Same with Jokic. He could care less a lot of times on the defensive end, probably conserving energy for the offensive end and end of games but in 4th qtrs, he tends to pick up the defensive intensity as well. When the two best players are not going all out on the defensive end, it's hard to inspire the other players to fight the entire game. I think there is a dominant team in there somewhere but the players have to play with more effort on defense.

Yeah pretty much. He's referring to picking up Westbrook for $3.5 million a year when the average starting PG is making $12 million. They outsmarted the league by taking a player no one wanted, paying him cheap, and getting outstanding production out of him.
