In 1997 this band sneaked past the hyped Britpop bands like Oasis and Blur, as well as the vacuous bluster of the Spice Girls, and gave us the best song of the year.
Liam sings on the record but get what you’re saying. To be fair Oasis and Blur were inspired by these guys so doubt it was a shock to them like it was you 😉
Hi Kevin, I was in Liverpool from 1978 to 1981, what a great time and place for music. Eric’s, University, Star and Garter for lunch time sessions, even recall the Odd Spot for late night dance. It was also the time of the Stiff Tour - remember? 😀
I remember seeing this when it was first broadcast, liking it but also thinking that they looked like a veteran band.. Now I'm watching thinking how young bloody young Ian looks.
Best band on the planet, still. Ian just has that presence - last iof the great rock stars. Will Sergeant must be the most underrated guitarist of all time, brilliant.
oh, no. No, it's totally not. I really like the song. But, no. No, his voice is not close to incredible. Not close Most bar singers could sing this as well, or better. But, still, a really good song
I want it now I want it now Not the promises of what tomorrow brings I need to live in dreams today I'm tired of the song that sorrow sings And i want more than i can get Just trying to, trying to, trying to forget I'd walk to you through rings of fire And never let you know the way i feel Under skin is where i hide The love that always gets me on my knees And i want more than i can get Just trying to, trying to, trying to forget Nothing ever lasts forever Nothing ever lasts forever Nothing ever lasts forever Nothing ever lasts forever I want it now I want it now Don't tell me that my ship is coming in Nothing comes to those who wait Time's running out the door you're running in So, i want more than i can get Just trying to, trying to, trying to forget Nothing ever lasts forever Nothing ever lasts forever Nothing ever lasts forever Nothing ever lasts forever All the shadows and the pain Are coming to you All the shadows and the pain Are coming to you All the shadows and the pain Are coming to you All the shadows and the pain Are coming to you All the shadows and the pain Are coming to you All the shadows and the pain Are coming to you All the shadows and the pain Are coming to you
What a top tune from one of the Uk's best bands... saw them perform this in the courtyard at cream in Liverpool for the album launch... simply stunning x
I just heard this song last week. I can’t believe this passed me by. It’s as beautiful as don’t look back in anger, bittersweet symphony, no surprises (maybe Tender can be there too?) - how is this not in the 90s cannon. It’s absolutely stunning. And what is it with Liverpool and amazing bands!!! Shack is another band that I think is criminally underrated.
Love 2 The Bunneymen ☝️🐰 Grateful 4 The 40 years of Luv ❤️💚 Songs 4 Ever!! This is amazingly Cool 4 a Survivor like Me!! Sounds I shall always cherish 🎵🌹🎬 #rocknrollgramma 🎭 Forever
I've seen them twice once in Nottingham and once in Manchester.....both times he sang Ocean Rain at the end but each time all the pissed up clowns at the back were talking and shouting which drowned out such a beautiful song.....obviously the serious fans, (including me) go to the front but I hate tight crowds....what a band !
Genius track , Can somebody do a Deep Fake Video of Frank Sinatra singing this song. In my mind this track would have been perfect for him and he would have nailed it.
If this is considered historical, good. When the kids can go back to school, they're realise it's 20'th centaury philosophy with guitars. Then they'll die.
Don,t worry Mozzer...if you hadnt wrote this...pretty sure I would have come up with something along the lines...we all get a little bit this...a little bit that...but whats youre problem...you can sing..look ok...( not gay..not opposed..but I aint,..mutual respect..)..anyway...you did good.no matter where you swing..lay youre hat..bat for any sidd...we get you..
My favourite bunnymen song , absolutely a classic
Superb drummer, Michael Lee, who died so young - also played with so many greats including Plant and Page.
one of the best songs ever made/written
Good taste Melanie....
I agree, it's fantastic, despite being a slightly sad song.
At 54, and having lost my mom recently, that line “time is running out the door you’re running in. . .” Is so telling. Ian is brilliant.
💜Sorry for your loss💜

Thank you.

@@sidvicious355 no they shouldn't...on February 17th it will be 14 years since my Mama passed then my Daddy passed the next year. 😔

In 1997 this band sneaked past the hyped Britpop bands like Oasis and Blur, as well as the vacuous bluster of the Spice Girls, and gave us the best song of the year.
Well ..... It does have Liam Gallagher on backing vocals on the single / album
Your opinion, or was it part of an official list?
Best comment I've read in a decade 💙🏴
@@janebraun4482 my opinion only!
Liam sings on the record but get what you’re saying. To be fair Oasis and Blur were inspired by these guys so doubt it was a shock to them like it was you 😉
The greatest funeral song ever xxx
One of the greatest songwriters ever,
First saw the Bunnymen at Liverpool Eric's in 78...Maccas voice still melts my Heart.
You said that last year ;P. I used to watch Teardrops rehearsing/playing in the Pyramid around that time but liked the Bunnies far more.
Hi Kevin, I was in Liverpool from 1978 to 1981, what a great time and place for music. Eric’s, University, Star and Garter for lunch time sessions, even recall the Odd Spot for late night dance. It was also the time of the Stiff Tour - remember? 😀
Yes l saw the stiff tour in huddersfield.
Well jealous !.....78 !

Haha age my friend.
Best band on the planet, still. Ian just has that presence - last iof the great rock stars. Will Sergeant must be the most underrated guitarist of all time, brilliant.
Mmm.....close call to Talking Heads and Steely Dan. Best British band maybe ?
What a great song from one of the most underrated bands of the 1980's.
Yes David but I always thought that Ian wanted and accepted that. He wouldn't take any BS hence somewhat ignored by the promotion circus.
The drumming is brilliant on this!
Everything is mate
The late "Michael Lee"
Never a truer word sung in this song. Must have been great to have been there to hear this played live. Love it !
This guy's voice is incredible
oh, no. No, it's totally not. I really like the song. But, no. No, his voice is not close to incredible. Not close
Most bar singers could sing this as well, or better.
But, still, a really good song
Brilliant. 30 June 2020 listening.
Echo and the Bunnymen is AN ALL TIME GREAT BAND!
How did this pass me by?
Came up randomly on my feed today and can’t stop listening to it
Quality group, quality song of a quality era. Ian heard oasis singing n said I can write a better song n here we have it.
Eco and the bunnymen GREAT BAND
Simply magnificent tune.
All the shadows and the pain, are coming to you.
4 minutes of magic from The Bunneymen.
What can I say but just real music. Class.
I want it now
I want it now
Not the promises of what tomorrow brings
I need to live in dreams today
I'm tired of the song that sorrow sings
And i want more than i can get
Just trying to, trying to, trying to forget
I'd walk to you through rings of fire
And never let you know the way i feel
Under skin is where i hide
The love that always gets me on my knees
And i want more than i can get
Just trying to, trying to, trying to forget
Nothing ever lasts forever
Nothing ever lasts forever
Nothing ever lasts forever
Nothing ever lasts forever
I want it now
I want it now
Don't tell me that my ship is coming in
Nothing comes to those who wait
Time's running out the door you're running in
So, i want more than i can get
Just trying to, trying to, trying to forget
Nothing ever lasts forever
Nothing ever lasts forever
Nothing ever lasts forever
Nothing ever lasts forever
All the shadows and the pain
Are coming to you
All the shadows and the pain

All the shadows and the pain
Are coming to you
All the shadows and the pain
Are coming to you
All the shadows and the pain
Are coming to you
All the shadows and the pain

At this point the 80s Ian was still intact-seems like a different person today.

Is that Michael Lee on the drums?
No idea mate
It is Michael. Fantastic drummer and sadly missed!
Much missed. He was a great asset to any band he played in.

It's not a boogie-woogie song! Ian is enough!!
Not the best performance, I think Ian's voice started to degrade sometime between Mysterio and The Fountain
