When he became 16 his parents wanted him to quit high school and work with them but he didn’t want to, his uncle herd about it and helped him finish high school, he also funded his college but his parents would brag to others that they were the ones putting him through college, when he was graduating he could only invite 2 people so he invited his uncle and aunt, when parent found out they were furious and they got in a heated argument about it, saying they they deserved to be there and they they will be embarrassed if they aren’t there, so the graduation comes and he invited his uncle and aunt, his parents were livid and stared spreading roomers that his uncle was manipulating him, he finds out about this and invites his extended family, uncle and parents and reveals the truth his parts storm out and threaten to cut him off.

I was a coward. I folded in that very same situation. I beg, borrowed and stole to get tickets for family that meant nothing to me. I just wanted non-confrontations at my graduation.

I know that family is important, but how were the parents family when they did all that they could to get in OP's way of getting an education. At this point in life I only keep company with those that have been there for me. When it is time to party and celebrate any achievements I only want my support circle there with me.

I do think the parents are jerks because they lied about the situation instead of being grateful to the uncle for supporting their kid, but I do understand the financial situation.
