Yeah I get your idea but that wouldn't be "glass cannon" it would just be broken as hell. Just look at kirrik (may be misspelling that) to see how broken paying life for spells is EDIT: Maybe with a once per turn restriction it would make more sense but then it's worse kaalia so idk
It would be cool if Spectres were given an across the board ability similar to shroud/hexproof as flavour for them being ghostly beings, and so becoming incorporeal when tapped/when X spectres are tapped this turn or something similar. They also could have deathtouch or an ability that is an etb which causes the opponents creatures to gain Fear of Spectres, and so can only be blocked by other spectres. Obviously would need to be tweaked, so as to not be way too OP, but those are some ideas i had haha.
The TH-cam algorithm was onto you this week, they recommended a bunch of your older tribal-related videos to me over the past couple of days. I’m always glad to see more tribal coverage!
I want to see more Kavu's. I have always loved them since i started playing back in Planeshift. My favorite in that set was Flametongue Kavu, that card made me fall in love with that type. MORE KAVU WotC!!
That would work so well in a Jared Carthalion deck as well! If they made them multicoloured (either 2 or 3 colours mainly, but also a bunch of 5 colour ones) his ability would be able to create 3/3 versions of them, boost them, and then his ultimate would be able to have some recursion with them while creating 2 treasures if theyre 5 colour ones.
We haven't seen a viable Shaman-matters commander despite the tribe being huge at 452. There are 61 Legendary Shaman and only one, Sachi, Daughter of Seshiro specifically mentions Shaman. It's also Mono Green and a Snake lord. Jund and Naya would be reasonable colorways. I'd even be happy with Gruul.
A "Shaman matters" commander i have been looking at is Rocco, Cabaretti Caterer. For 2WRG you can play Harmonic Prodigy as your commander and double Shaman triggers.
I completely agree! So many great supporting shamans, between E-Wit, Steve, etc. I built a Jund Shaman deck. It closed out the game w/ either Woodfall Primus/ Grum Gully (or Metallic Mimic), or Kiki-Jiki/Lightning Crafter. A little sadly, I went with Prossh as the commander. I really needed a sac outlet in the command zone, and there was lots of "death" support (Mazirek and Judith, Scourge Diva). I also had a sub-theme for Legendary creatures w/ Reki and Time of Need. I recently took it apart. I just couldn't dial in the power level; some games turn 6 combo win, others I'd get stuck in the "clunky 4-drop mire" prevalent in a lot of tribal decks.
I was listening to the podcast in Spotify and had to come to TH-cam to post my idea for specter commander: A commander when a specter causes your opponents to discard, they discard a card at random and into exiled, you or the owner can play that card until the end of that player next end turn. I think it will be tons of fun.
Same. I tried back in 2010 when there were even less options than now. I went with a Venom + Lure theme and had to fill in with Basilisks, Snakes, Spiders, Scorpions, and Insects because there weren't anywhere close to enough Gorgons. And in addition to trying to collect one of every Dragon art, I have collected one of every Gorgon art (a lot easier to do, btw). Maybe someday.
Bro i love Gorgonzola so much that my mind is constantly thinking about Gorgon. I hope that Gorgon tribal will be pushed in the future so i can build a Gorgon Food Token Deck xD
A tribe that I hope and pray gets some love and I've been saying this for a while is the KAVU tribal. We need a good KAVU legendary and that tribal will be legit!!
WOTC has been teasing Selesnya Unicorn/ Life gain for a bit with Lathriel and Emiel, but we need more unicorns to full flesh out the deck. I am hopeful we will see more Unicorns in the near future to add that little umph that it needs.
Last week I did lose to a demon tribal deck to the effects of Lliana's contract. The deck had 13 different legendary demons and my friend chooses one at random at the start of the game.
Unicorns! We have a good commander who cares about them, but most of the unicorn creatures are just filler tier. Also more support for spiders and insects would be great.
YES! Spellshapers. Joey I am trying to make a spellshaper deck right now and there are so many interesting ones (over 50) which blew my mind. There are a lot of great discard synergies which works for the tribe as well. The only thing missing is an on theme commander. Right now I am looking at Jegantha to help me pay for the colored mana in the activated abilities, and will be running other cards to reduce the costs such as Zirda, Heartstone, and Biomancer's Familiar. If they made an on theme commander I would be so excited
Same! I’ve been looking for a 2 or 3 color commander, ideally including red for Badgersaur and other discard synergies. Jeskai: Brallin/Shabraz, discard/draw synergies. Grixis: Mairsil can acquire spellshaping and doesn’t mind discarding, Jund: Windgrace focusing on discarding lands, including Borborygmos 2 and such. Non-red: Damia, refilling your hand after discarding to spellshape
@@dahuntre yep both Damia and Brallin are in my list so far! Also Rielle and Bonemiser will need to be in there. The hard part for me is picking which actual spellshapers I want haha
Why not Esper or Dimir? Toluz will eventually give back all the cards you discard, or Oskar will let you cast some of them. You still get to use Bone Miser, and you can play around with things leaving the grave (Syr Konrad, Tormod, etc.).
Niuttuc from MTGGoldfish played a 5c spellshaper tribal deck on one of their videos not too long ago, with Garth as the commander and Zirda partner. I can't remember how it played but the decklist was pretty neat.
My chosen Tribe was Kavu, the last one we got was in MH2 in Territorial Kavu; and Kavu's don't even have their own legendary Creature. I'd really like to see a Legendary Kavu in Jund.
I just posted about kavu. Jund would be cool, but idk I've always had a view of kavu being 5-color. I would love to see a 5-color Kavu commander and/or a Jund commander.
There are no blue Kavus and only one with white. There are also only two with black, so the tribe is almost exclusively red/green. I would not mind a WUBRG commander, but i'd also be happy with RG and everything inbetween. I played Kavu Tribal in Standard back in the day and i miss them...
I thought there was more blue and white was wrong. So yeah Gruul definetly, Jund with more black kavu. WUBRG would be awesome but would require alot of support. So I'll settle for jund or gruul.
@@caligo7918 Wait a minute there is a Kavu with white and blue, Kavu Glider. The creature is red but it has activated abilities that are white and blue. So there is a precedent for kavu to be blue.
@@davidr3146 okay, it's a WUBRG tribe with 90% RG. If it gets a WUBRG commander it also needs more Kavus for the 99. The fourty+ Kavus in existence are not very efficient, Odyssee was a low powered block.
Crackdown goes straight in Rebecca Guay tribal. Dwarves and Druids deserve the nod for jankiest tribes that are actually competitive (Magda and Seton single-handedly boost these underloved tribes significantly). And Dana knows how powerful shamans are, since Reki is the best Commander of all time.
I would love to see like Druids (G), Soldiers (W), Advisors (U), Warlocks (B), and Berserkers (R) all get love in a Commander deck set one day. Have it tribally connected but also focused on how broad their abilities are and try to tie that all together. Occupational tribal ftw!
No love for demons? What about Kalia of the Vast? She spits out demons for free! True, she also cares about angels and dragons, but still, very much a demon commander nonetheless!
Zurzoth is the Devil tribal deck I didn't know I wanted until I try it out. Is super fun and a really original design space. On the other hand, Demons are great as a reanimation sub theme, but it's true that even though most of them are legendary creatures, Thre aren't any of them that click as a cool "this is the demon commander"
You could build around Spellshapers, if you incorporate card draw effects that trigger off the destruction or other effect of the Spellshaper e.g. Species Specialist/Harvester of Souls/Viridian Revel. That'd prevent the hellbent aspect. Alternatively play a reanimation or a madness strategy?
The most underloved is Raccoon. We got two in capenna. But it should of started back with the squirrels. A Squirrel vs Raccoon rivalry would of been fun.
Man, I want a great commander for Golems in Bant colors so bad! There's a lot of cool Golems out there, and the Splicers are great lords, but all the Legendary ones are in the wrong colors! Plus, there's Constructs stealing a lot of Golem's thunder these days, they definitely need more love from Wizard's, and from MtG content creators too!
I made a Demon tribal deck at one point with Vilas, Broker of Blood. Just dropping a few powerful Demons could actually be really good. I would love to see more Spellshaper support. I think a Madness deck might be a good for them as well.
Grist, the hunger tide and blex, vexing pest care about insects. I still don't really think it makes sense that grist is a legal commander despite being a walker without the "can be commander" text but it's pretty cool
@@DracoX-hz3tu I don’t think Grist is a good insect tribal commander because his ability wants you to put your insects in the gy not play them, why do I want to bin my vorepede or hornet queen for a generic 1/1? Blex is ok but boring as a generic lord that doesn’t particularly care about the tribe.
Spellshaper Legend - 5 Color - When you activate a spellshaper, if it discards, you may exert. If you do so, draw 2. I want a skeleton commander - You may play skeletons from the graveyard 1Mana 1/1. Id like a new Izzet goblins. When you draw a card you may sacrifice a goblin. If you do Goblin Grenade something.
I used Crackdown before in my Arcades, the Strategist deck. It's a powerful card but the way it impacts the game is bad because it freezes, noone wants to attack and then you become the archenemy because you're taking away everybody's fun.
Sultai Turtles got a few new decent cards and even rares more recently. And with Archelos they even have a commander. They do many different things though so it's tricky to make them work together tbh and there are no lords yet but they're not that far off as a tribal I swear! I've even won with the deck before. Twice! Out of twenty games or so..
In terms of clerics, my friend PwnguinMage (who I believe is in the discord) has a Orah deck which SLAPS and is completely unique in strategy, it's insane how survivable that deck is even though there's barely any life gain
Yeah Clerics are super sticky with Orah. I did lean into the gain n drain to grind, but the Cleric toolbox is great. It's a huge tribe with a myriad of strategies. Orah plays well to Pyre of Heroes as well.
Loved this. Lots of good points were made here. Particularly regarding whether the legendaries that exist in under supported tribes really do much for making the creature types matter. Personally, I'd love more support in tribes like phoenixes. We finally just got a commander for them, but could really use more viable phoenixes to flesh out a complete deck.
I have a mono black iname spirit tribal deck, and it's one of the jankiest and most fun deck to play. Just dump half of your spirits into the grave, then bring them all back with living death. Also mask wood nexus helps with the few non-spirits in the deck, such as Syr Konrad
I love tribal decks, both fairly normal and slightly offbeat. I’ve got Lathril elves, Unesh sphinxes, Strefan vampires, and a few other fairly standard tribal decks. But I’ve also got Mavren Fein mono-white vampires, Taborax mono-black clerics, and Jerren mono-black humans. Support for new tribes and for off-colour tribes is really exciting.
I have a Spellshaper deck! Ghost of Ramirez de Pietro and Ravos work well together as a spellshaper team. Mind you, it is slow. I think ideally a Spellshaper commander would provide haste as well, because the tribe all require tapping. Otherwise, just some text like De Pietro or Ravos works super well!
I think it was Nitpicking Nerds who did a video in the human tribe, and iirc, the general conclusion was that the tribe has a ton of options, but that humans all go in so many different directions that it is hard to find a single strategy that can be focused on well.
Ooze tribal is one cool commander from getting there. I had a Sakashima/Reyhan Ooze tribal focused on multiplying the oozes and getting them +1/+1 counters, but it was a bit too clunky. An Ooze commander that somehow bring those things together for all the jellies would be amazing!
Love my Chulane Druid Tribal deck. And yes, Gilt-Leaf Archdruid is in the 99. As far as Spellshapers are concerned, * really like Esper spellshapers in my Sefris deck. Pitching creatures for venture triggers and recursion courtesy of Teshar and Barrowin has got a lot going for it.
Nightstalkers, thrulls, serfs, sponges, licids and leeches among other scourge block creatures need more love hope wotc brings out more support for each and every obscure tribe.
I have a Specter tribal deck! I use a Nicol Bolas, the Ravager as the commander, and I threw in discard synergies and a reanimation package to get back my opponents toys to play with. It’s a lot of fun, and the deck can be BRUTAL when it gets online. I’d love to get even more support for them, though!
One of my first decks was mono-green Warrior tribal with Sosuke, Son of Seshiro. Eventually took it apart because it always felt clunky. But I feel like it's been long enough and more support has been released that it could be a viable deck, if I ever rebuild it.
@Matt, you should try making Rocco, Cabaretti Caterer as Commander to tutor up the Gilt-leaf Archdruid. I'm sure the druids could produce enough mana to make this worth it.
On the topic of spellshapers i’ve been thinking of doing a spellshaper deck with Rielle, the Everwise as the commander. Sort of helps to ease the drawback of discarding cards by giving you a discount on the first activation. Also could have subthemes like flashback to both help further mitigate the card disadvantage and buff rielle while those spells sit in your graveyard.
Goblins by far are my favorite and first starter deck I bought to get into MTG during Scourge. One of the best flavor text is hands down goblins. One the best tribes to play starting off plus you can play them a couple different ways.
I had an Orah, Skyclave Hierophant Cleric deck for a while, it was fine but ended up like a low power aristocrats deck. I might be able to build it better now. Currently, my tribal decks are Scarab God Zombies and Millicent Spirits. My newest deck is Mari, the Killing Quill for rogue/assassin/mercenary tribal, I like the choice to use all of those to minimize the limitation of being mono black.
I feel like Specters definitely could use more help, but they are almost there already. Krosis the Purger at the head, load up with specters that discard, and then play a lot of cards like Temple Bell that can group hug and give your opponents more cards to discard, so you aren't being AS mean as you could be.
For a Gorgon Tribal commander, it could be a green, black, and blue one that has something along the lines of when your gorgons kill a creature, put it onto your side of the field as a 0/X defender, where X is its original toughness. Flavorful in turning enemies into stone, and works with gorgons since they care about deathtouch!! Me personally, I want some more spider love. My first ever deck was Ishkanah, it was awful but I tried to hard to make it work om a budget. I'm glad we've gotten new cards like Lolth, but a red-green-black spider that has abilities that care about spiders would be great. Thantis is lovely and all, but thantis is much more fun played as a chaotic battler imo
Okay, but Seton, Krosan Protector's ability IS exciting. Everyone seems to miss this, but his ability bypasses summoning sickness. He plays like a mono green Urza in a way. I have a deck built around him and it can hang at cEDH tables. It's an incredibly powerful druid tribal storm deck where I can get into loops with my druids. It also runs Gilt-Leaf Archdruid of course.
The two I want is for archers and spiders in either Abzan, Jund, or Naya would be cool. An archer pinger theme is what I'd love to see. Doran being the best spider commander is something of a feels bad man
A fun Specter Commander could be: UBR 2/2 Flying Whenever an opponent discard one or more cards, they exile them, lose 2 life and draw a card. Each Specter card in your graveyard has an Unearth cost equal to its mana value. A fun Sphinx Commander could be: 3WUB 5/5 Flying Whenever you draw one or more card except for the first one you draw during each of your draw steps, instead you choose a nonland card name then target opponent reveals a number of cards from the top of their library equal to twice the number of Sphinx you control. If the chosen spell is revealed this way, exile it and you may cast it without paying its mana cost. Then that player shuffles the rest into his or her library. A fun Druid commander could be: RGW 1/1 Whenever a nontoken Druid you control dies, search your library for a basic land card, put it onto the battlefield tapped then shuffle. It becomes a creature with “This creature’s power and toughness are each equal to the number of lands you control”. It’s still a land. A fun Spellshaper commander could be: BRG 2/2 UW, T: Discard two cards: At the end of the next end step, return to your hand each card discarded during this turn. You may activate abilities of Spellshaper you control as though as those creatures had haste. A fun Demon commander could be: 3BR 5/5 Flying, trample, menace, protection from Angels and from Humans. Whenever another Demon enters the battlefield under your control, each opponent may sacrifice a non-Demon creature they control. If they don’t, all non-Demon creatures get -2/-2 until end of turn and each player loses 2 life. A fun Archon commander could be: 5WB 7/7 Flying When [cardname] enters the battlefield, attacks or dies return another target Archon card from a graveyard or from exile into play under your control. This ability triggers only once each turn. At the beginning of your upkeep, if you control seven or more Archons with different names, you win the game. A fun Djinn commander could be: 2URW 3/6 Flying, Shroud At the beginning of each end step, if you drew exactly one card this turn, put a wish counter on target Djinn you control. U, Remove a wish counter from a creature you control: Reveal cards from the top of your library until you reveal a noncreature card. You may cast that card without paying its mana cost. If you don’t exile it. Put all the revealed cards not cast this way on the bottom of your library in a random order. A fun Homunculus commander could be: 1U 1/1 Whenever a card enters the battlefield from a library or was cast from a library, you may goad target creature.
I think Damia would be cool to make a Gorgon deck with. Green and black are Gorgon colors, plus blue to clone them. Changelings are also a thing. That's what made EDH fun in the early days. Making do with what you had to build the deck you wanted without specific product that catered to the format, or even Standard cards with the format in mind. A guy in my group played U/R artifacts before there were any legends for the archetype and the deck was still nuts. "Just for the colors" is not always a bad thing. I appreciate decks that function fine without the commander and have a few myself.
I had a blue//black specter deck. Which was basically a discard//return permanents to owner's hand deck. Recoil made into a deck But I took it apart because when it worked, no one else would have fun
My vote is Shaman tribal.
I’d like more spiders, the most recent legendary spider was in an alchemy set :( I think the various humanoids in mtg could all get more support too. Kor, Vedalken, Kithkin, Centaurs, and so on. Like there’s 3000 humans already but most humanoids don’t even reach 100
Id love to see more Sphinx, Elementals, Treefolk, Samurai & Gods typal decks! I'd also really love to see some more Otters & Phienix typals, as Otters are my favourite animal besides cats, and it would be really cool to get some simic coloured otters for my Simic token deck 😊

@@Customerbuilder my first generation I was using Sek'Kuar, Deathkeeper. Now I use Yurlok of Scorch Thrash and use the shamans as kill or destroy affects.
Many of the tribes that seem neglected are actually occupational guilds rather than racial groups. Among the top 50 tribes listed on EDHREC, only five of them are guilds: Wizards, Knights, Pirates, Rogues, and Soldiers. The rest are all creatures that belong to a particular species (such as dragons, elves, humans, etc). Since a variety of creature types can belong to the same guild (e.g. Wizards or Knights), it's more challenging to build a tribal theme around a guild with diverse members. Creatures of the same race fit more vividly into their particular archetype.
I want more support for scarecrows because I think Reaper King has really cool artwork, but I don't think there are enough scarecrows to make a Reaper King deck without it either being a shapeshifter tribal or a 5 color artifact creatures deck. I think some of the scarecrows like Rattleblaze Scarecrow, Wingrattle Scarecrow, and the Skulkins could serve for a blueprint of 'colors matter' as a scarecrow archetype, but for me to also have the motivation to build it and buy the cards for it I want to have scarecrows that have colors and not have to put in shapeshifters unless they have other abilities that would synergise with the scarecrows.
I play Hand To Hand in my Tahngarth deck (Tahngarth coincidentally showed up in the same Ghired precon as Marisi, btw), to allow me to give him to all players, even if they have a sac outlet in play - considering the amount of sac outlets in the game, it can really shut down my deck if I'm being too careful about I can give control of him to during combat! It helps that my Tahngarth has an enchantress subtheme (as there's lots of auras that give menace and other great keyword and P/T buffs to Tahngarth), so putting it out even when no-one has a sac outlet often draws me one or two cards anyway!
I'm the type of player that makes and takes apart decks somewhat often. I've played Humans, Elves, Changelings, Clerics, Merfolk, Rogues, and Pests. The Pests had the least support, but it worked as an Aristocrats Life gain Dina Deck.
39:46 this could be a legendary jeskai spellshaper commander that says whenever an ability you control causes you to discard one or more cards you may draw up to that many cards. BOOM adds more love to white, gives you gas for all the discarding and flows with the theme of spellshaper
so not sure if you would consider this to be a tribal deck or not, but my first "tribal" deck was Nevinyrral ,Urborg Tyrant board wipe tribal... it was all about ways to remove Nevinyrral until end of turn and also play a board wipe almost every turn and get his ETB effect. i only played it 3 times because my group did not like playing against board wipe "tribal"
Bloomburrow really catalulted a lot of tribes with some commanders, know it came out well after this podcast, but man. Finally got my birds matter commander in Kastrel, rather than the usual just flying matters. But I enjoyed how some of these commanders are tribal in one part of their ability, but have a secondary thats generically buildable. Clement frog decks are fun, but he can bounce any creature, and Gev puts counters on any creature, making persist pretty valuable.
My first commander back in 2013 was actually Crosis the Purger as a Specter commander 😅 I have been wishing for a good unique specter commander for years!
for the clerics section, u could argue that the clerics support other builds such as Kaalia, of the Vast. i know that Kaalia runs 3 different creature types, but the whole point of clerics from my point of view is as a support sub-type for angels/demons/dragons/gods
More fungus tribal would be great, and a leviathan/kraken tribal would be epic. Same with with Nightmare tribal (the only one I know of that interacts with Nightmares is Chainer)
I have a Taborax, Hope’s Demise Shadowborn Apostle deck that is easily my strongest deck because it hits insanely fast and Sanguine Bond is magical with Taborax when his Lifelink turns on
Hellions need support BAD! they are one of red's iconic creature types but there are like 14 of them and all but like 2 of them suck. There are 3 hellion legends and none of them mesh very well with the hellions we do have. I think a proper hellion legend would take advantage of high power and low toughness or creatures that are not able to block as these are both common features on the few hellions that we do have. Maybe something like "Hellion creatures you control have trample. When a creature you control attacks that has greater power than toughness it gets +X/+0 where X is the difference. Definitely in mono-red, hopefully along side some more hellion prints.
honestly I'd love for a 5 or 6 mana demon that says "you can pay life to cast demon spells". would be so good but glass canon-y!!

Last week I did lose to a demon tribal deck to the effects of Lliana's contract. The deck had 13 different legendary demons and my friend chooses one at random at the start of the game.
That sounds like a cool deck
Joey, that Cohen reference was flawless
reference of the year
Haha yeah, I was looking into the tribe as well for a janky kenrith build. Not quite an on-theme commander but helps with the refill issue
Same! I’ve been looking for a 2 or 3 color commander, ideally including red for Badgersaur and other discard synergies.
Jeskai: Brallin/Shabraz, discard/draw synergies.
Grixis: Mairsil can acquire spellshaping and doesn’t mind discarding,
Jund: Windgrace focusing on discarding lands, including Borborygmos 2 and such.
I’d love to see more homarid and cephalid support.
I really like the new cephalid design.
Me too thanks great design
Definitely would love to see more cephalids
I’d love to see more support for beasts, birds, and lands that can become creatures.
Titania's Song, heck yea. One of the cards that keeps popping in and out of my Selvala GW Enchantress over the years
I would love to see like Druids (G), Soldiers (W), Advisors (U), Warlocks (B), and Berserkers (R) all get love in a Commander deck set one day.
Zurzoth is my homeboy and my favorite deck right now.
But then who would be the ones to protect us from the eldrazi? The squirrels are currently doing it.. they cant fight squirrels right now.
@@Therodaas Raccoons could.
wish granted
I’d like to see a siren or a skeleton commander. Sirens could focus on their tap abilities and the skeletons their regeneration
I would love more skeleton love. I would personally want one that gave into more of the reanimating aspect of skeletons.
I've played several gx two color versions. The commander legends partners have been a big help for that. I also have tried sultai for 3 color
I made a Demon tribal deck at one point with Vilas, Broker of Blood. Just dropping a few powerful Demons could actually be really good.
I would love to see more Spellshaper support. I think a Madness deck might be a good for them as well.
Insects, I really wish we had a decent insect commander, there are a good variety of insects but no good tribal commander.
Creature types are weird, so many of them are like jobs or occupations. I wish there were more cards that bestowed types in a flavorful way like Dub.
You might like Sensei Golden-Tail, he literally trains creatures to become samurai
There’s maybe a commander coming in baldur’s gate named gut that would work well with skeletons as long as you give it a black background
16:51 the aristocrat player in Joey approvingly grunts as he sees the synergy with the commander in question
I have a Spellshapers tribal deck with Toluz! It's a nice way to take advantage of that discard theme and get the cards back over and over
I used Crackdown before in my Arcades, the Strategist deck. It's a powerful card but the way it impacts the game is bad because it freezes, noone wants to attack and then you become the archenemy because you're taking away everybody's fun.
I had a cleric tribal deck but used Athreos as the commander. It was more about worshipping him with the clerics and it was a fun theme deck for sure.
I would love to see more skeletons or new art for some of the old ones and in some day a skeleton matters commander 🤔
My brain was broken at EACH of your dad jokes today... 🙃🤯
Challenge Stats for Dana: Musician in Falco. such a silly one with proliferate
In the same vein as Hand to Hand see Basandra Battle Seraph in Boros.
I wanna go hog wild with pigs! About 30-50 feral boars in deck.
No pig, only boars.
Toluz, Clever conductor seems great for spellshappers
You guys mentioned Treefolk in the Challenge the Stats but not the video! This classic fantasy tribe is criminally undersupported
Tribal is one of my favorite themes and subthemes. I would say 3/4 of my decks have tribal as a main or secondary theme. The decks synergize well.
Crackdown is incredible in my 4 wall decks (one of which is doran) highly recommend.
I'd love to see more Archons. I don't think there's even a section for them on the tribal page on edhrec
I love tribal, and not afraid to shoehorn a deck together. Example: I have a Bringers/Nephilim “tribal” and an Archon tribal decks.
Doran being the best spider commander is something of a feels bad man
A fun Specter Commander could be:
UBR 2/2 Flying
Whenever an opponent discard one or more cards, they exile them, lose 2 life and draw a card. Each Specter card in your graveyard has an Unearth cost equal to its mana value.
A fun Sphinx Commander could be:
3WUB 5/5 Flying
Whenever you draw one or more card except for the first one you draw during each of your draw steps, instead you choose a nonland card name then target opponent reveals a number of cards from the top of their library equal to twice the number of Sphinx you control. If the chosen spell is revealed this way, exile it and you may cast it without paying its mana cost. Then that player shuffles the rest into his or her library.
A fun Druid commander could be:
RGW 1/1
Whenever a nontoken Druid you control dies, search your library for a basic land card, put it onto the battlefield tapped then shuffle. It becomes a creature with “This creature’s power and toughness are each equal to the number of lands you control”. It’s still a land.
A fun Spellshaper commander could be:
BRG 2/2
UW, T: Discard two cards: At the end of the next end step, return to your hand each card discarded during this turn.
You may activate abilities of Spellshaper you control as though as those creatures had haste.
A fun Demon commander could be:
3BR 5/5 Flying, trample, menace, protection from Angels and from Humans.
Whenever another Demon enters the battlefield under your control, each opponent may sacrifice a non-Demon creature they control. If they don’t, all non-Demon creatures get -2/-2 until end of turn and each player loses 2 life.
A fun Archon commander could be:
5WB 7/7 Flying
When [cardname] enters the battlefield, attacks or dies return another target Archon card from a graveyard or from exile into play under your control. This ability triggers only once each turn.
At the beginning of your upkeep, if you control seven or more Archons with different names, you win the game.
A fun Djinn commander could be:
2URW 3/6 Flying, Shroud
At the beginning of each end step, if you drew exactly one card this turn, put a wish counter on target Djinn you control.
U, Remove a wish counter from a creature you control: Reveal cards from the top of your library until you reveal a noncreature card. You may cast that card without paying its mana cost. If you don’t exile it. Put all the revealed cards not cast this way on the bottom of your library in a random order.
A fun Homunculus commander could be:
1U 1/1
Whenever a card enters the battlefield from a library or was cast from a library, you may goad target creature.
Recoil made into a deck
But I took it apart because when it worked, no one else would have fun
I have a fun demon deck. Tevesh Szat is the commander. I have managed to with with Liliana's Contract with it.
Always thought about building Spellshapers. This pushed me to finally do it. Until I get a legend I am heading it with Garth.
My vote is Shaman tribal.
I’d like more spiders, the most recent legendary spider was in an alchemy set :(
I think the various humanoids in mtg could all get more support too. Kor, Vedalken, Kithkin, Centaurs, and so on. Like there’s 3000 humans already but most humanoids don’t even reach 100
Ishkanah, Grafwidow wouldake a good spider commander. You'll be in Gruul which gives you most of what you want anyhow. A definite go wide strategy. 😊
I play quite a few spellshapers in my Rielle Deck. Not sure if there are enough of them to make it actually tribal though
I gotta go with shamans. There are so many powerful shamans in Magic's history but with no love for him.
@@Customerbuilder my first generation I was using Sek'Kuar, Deathkeeper. Now I use Yurlok of Scorch Thrash and use the shamans as kill or destroy affects.
I'm a huge elves fan. It's the reason I got into magic back in '98
I agree with Dana, I want more support for Gorgons! Vraska is my favorite planeswalker and I would love to build a gorgon tribal deck in honor of her.
I need some more Efreet in my life. I don't even know what those are.
Crab tribal
Humunculus needs to be a playable tribe
I'm the type of player that makes and takes apart decks somewhat often. I've played Humans, Elves, Changelings, Clerics, Merfolk, Rogues, and Pests. The Pests had the least support, but it worked as an Aristocrats Life gain Dina Deck.
It hurts me to laugh at the opening jokes but here I am, still watching 😁

this could be a legendary jeskai spellshaper commander that says whenever an ability you control causes you to discard one or more cards you may draw up to that many cards.
We need a proper dog commander! I want to play with Alpine Houndmaster
@@nathanmoore3866 I mean a commander that cares only about dogs. I tried Rin and Seri, but it feels very unfocused for me
My first commander back in 2013 was actually Crosis the Purger as a Specter commander 😅
I have been wishing for a good unique specter commander for years!
No mention of Rebels? For shame! All they need are some Rebels worth fetching with other Rebels...
for the clerics section, u could argue that the clerics support other builds such as Kaalia, of the Vast. i know that Kaalia runs 3 different creature types, but the whole point of clerics from my point of view is as a support sub-type for angels/demons/dragons/gods
Fingers crossed Satyrs get some more love soon. Glad to have Gallia but there are so few members of the tribe itself
More fungus tribal would be great, and a leviathan/kraken tribal would be epic. Same with with Nightmare tribal (the only one I know of that interacts with Nightmares is Chainer)
I've once been hit by a weird bolt of inspiration and tried brewing Mardu Elves. It was... not good.
I have a Taborax, Hope’s Demise Shadowborn Apostle deck that is easily my strongest deck because it hits insanely fast and Sanguine Bond is magical with Taborax when his Lifelink turns on
Spiders for sure. We are so close to making that tribal viable.
Crackdown is fun in inniaz because I can pass it around the table in the effect still works
