They have high dodge instead of armor, they have very high dps for barracks and stealing gold.
It's like giving Paladins an insta kill chance on their holy strike, Templar's bleeding attack.
If you think instakill as a passive on Assassins is fair, you have 0 idea on game balancing.

This guy favorits assassins in every single one. Assassin for some can instakill, yeah. But chance isn't high.
This guy replays the Assassin section until the Assassin scores the instakill. So he can win. Meanwhile in reality he loses most of these duels.
And? That's the point.

It’s 5% chance on every single attack (not just the sneak attacks btw). Which translates to roughly once every ~22 seconds on average.
