    So many of us are in the same boat. Aviation has been my life since I was 8. (Now 50) Everything was about airplanes, including my career. The career has just about ruined my love for aviation because of the burnout. I actually don’t enjoy it anymore. I sell stuff on the side on a couple platforms and really enjoy that. It makes me happy and fulfilled. Every sale drives me to do better and helps me keep at it. You are an inspiration, thank you for keeping it real.

    Thank you. I appreciate seeing real people, going through real things. It's not all "big scores". It's a grind. Keep going. You have the right mindset. Can't wait to see your MOC! ✌️❤️

    He’s two and a half?! I remember when we did the podcast and you were saying 15 months or so, that time just flies.
    I feel this video so hard. I’m still working on the balance of it all. I was on such a wild career path, in hospitality, then in sales and real estate, and now I feel like I’ve at least found the right balance of time and family; I work part time, scheduling my shifts between school drop-off and pick-up, with every other weekend off to be with the family. My next step definitely needs to be some internal auditing, finding ways to overcome the executive dysfunction and make the most of my time (both with my daughter and with my reselling).
    The burnout really does seem to affect the ability to have fun, but now that my daughter is older, I see a lot of potential in giving her the reins and following her energy to get to the fun.
    You know we always appreciate the honesty from you, to go along on the journey with you. It’s come so far so quickly, and I look forward, if you bring us along for the ride, to see where you find your fun.

    I think there's a famous quote that sums it up--find three hobbies you love: One to make you money, one to keep you in shape and one to be creative. Thanks for sharing your thoughts, I live halfway across the world and your video randomly popped on my feed. Hope things turn out great down the line.

    Another long time lurker here, I have to second that having time to be creative and make things that are inconsequential as a creative person is one of the most important things for mental health and staying motivated, even if it can seem like you just don't have the time for it.
    I'll also say that I was going through some hard life changes in jan-feb of this year and around that time I found your channel. I have eagerly awaited every upload since and these videos have provided such a beautiful break during a stressful time, even though i have no interest in reselling or even lego personally. Your hard work is so so seen by us viewers so please look after yourself and your family :)

    It seems like such a tricky water to navigate. Fun work has never been in my brain as a real possibility so whenever anyone actually tries I have massive respect for them. I hope you find a good balance sooner than later.

    I understand man. I don’t have that problem yet, as I am not an adult yet, but that feeling still happens. Burnout and turning hobbies into business both cause a lot of mental stress but trust me, it’ll get better. We love ya man. Seriously, we do

    Well said, glad you got to have a good time with your son! I feel most adults that love Lego and pursue it as a means of income feel the push and pull of keeping the money flowing vs having fun. I am just starting up, working hard to make it be viable some day. I think I will also have to find some separation of Lego as a fun hobby and from doing it as a business some day. Just keep working to find that balance, don't worry about pleasing your audience, do what feels right and what brings you enjoyment. Peace and love

    Wow....completely with you on this whole video - if I was ever Chicago I'd love to just chat with you about this! I'm the same...left a full time job with a good career path to pursue full time game design - and after 3 years full time on that I find it hard to even enjoy playing games anymore. Then I got back into Lego a few years ago, and whoops, I turn that into a job too with reselling and now I'm not sure if its that much fun for me either (especially feel you on having so many projects on the go that they seem endless).
    I too feel extremely lucky and privileged to be able to work for myself, from home (especially getting to spend so much time with my 4 month year old daughter), but there are downsides too. I need to find the fun too.

      @TravisMarsala  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Oh that’s rad you did game design. Surely there’s gotta be a balance in all this. It is a privilege. You’re absolutely right. I try not to lose sight of that. When myself or the kid gets sick it’s so nice to not have to check in with anybody and just say I’m staying home. During the move has been huge too. Haven’t had to ask anyone’s permission for time off. There’s upsides and downsides.

    Thank you for saying this is Schaumburg and not Chicago. I’m struggling with this too. I can make/ create something. Film 🎥 Theatre 🎭 Music 🎶 Comics 📰 Lego 🧱 But why do it? Even thought it costs money to make these things the point can’t be to make these things in the pursuit to make money 💵 from them. What I am realizing is the enjoyment has to come from making the thing it’s self.
