Great work! I spied Rob, one of my instructors for the California Motorcycle Safety Course, he's such a great teacher. The Pan Am looks like a contender!
I do that to when I ride, I sing "Danger Zone/Kenny Loggins" to keep my alert! I love how you teach us from your prospective, and you even admit any faults so we can learn! You are so freaking adorable Lali!! XOXO
I just found you on Shadetree's video about this adventure. I have to say that you (and the other ladies) did an amazing job handling those very large bikes. Bravo.
I'm glad Harley thought enough to send you to the event. We need new riders to the sport and comments like these, I think, tend to get less experienced riders to try other bikes and riding in general. Trust me we all can afford to learn better riding habit too. Good video! Stay safe!
Great video Lali! I think all of what you said here is going to help a lot of people learning this sport. I love that so many women are getting in to riding in general. It is great! Good luck from an old Montana trail rider.
Nice recap, so you mentioned the riding the style of counter balance when turning. I find myself doing that on my R1250RT automatically. I've never done any off rode riding so hadn't learned that. I just feel more comfortable and in control in curve. I'm interested in ADV riding and may take it up in the future. Tks for the post
I've been riding 48 years, I took up vintage motocross after riding road bikes for 15 years, and I agree the biggest transition was learning how to corner, as it is different and opposite to road riding, and I came from riding dirt bikes on the farm when I was 10. Learning how to let the bike move under and with you was the key, and I love riding my 1988 Lowrider in dirt roads.
I am impressed by both you and Doddle for how you continue to challenge yourselves in the world of motorcycles. I have a street bike as well as a dirt bike that is also street legal. The differences are *many* from road to street as you now know well. Your enthusiasm makes me smile and the fact that you are promoting the sport is fantastic! Keep up the great work and stay safe out there.
Hey @lali I've noticed a few things that might appeal to your sciency brain! First, when you showed the last clip, where you were about to opt out of a climb because you were upset until you started singing, I think the singing helped because of your breathing. In the clip where you were near tears your breath sounds short and shallow which likely had you near hyperventilating, but you can't sing Highway to Hell without a few deep breaths so that panicky feeling went away when you began to sing. If you don't already have a breathing practice with a couple exercises for recovery/panic/relaxation breaths you might look into that. It's nothing fancy, just a few breathing techniques that can really help calm you when you're getting stressed. Bonus theory, the reason your sweat was particularly foul day one is likely because you were very nervous and nervous sweat has different chemicals in it that smell much worse. The longer you're in that nervous sweat the more bacteria builds up and the worse it gets (Many folks think this is why dogs can sense a person who's not trustworthy; they smell the anxiousness in the sweat). As soon as you get comfortable riding ADV you would still sweat a lot but it's unlikely to smell quite the same. Always take spray deodorant (different than antiperspirant) to these things and spray the armpits of the riding gear when you take it off as the deodorant will kill the bacteria causing the odor (anti perspirant prevents you from sweating, deodorant tries to nullify the smell of the sweat). The really extreme, foulest of foul sweat odors occur when you have that nervous sweat and then it dries and then you sweat on it again and it reactivates that bacteria and it's gawd-awful, the deodorant spray as soon as you take the gear off and before you put it on the next morning really helps with that. And you're right, sailers sing shanties because it keeps them rowing all in rhythm and it keeps them breathing in rhythm. Same thing with military singing cadences while marching. You're awesome. I just found your videos through your Revzilla video with Doodle and have binged vids from you and @Shadetree Surgeon this weekend!
Very genuine, that is why I watch, besides your humor. I hope you enjoyed Calif Mojave and Red Rock Canyon, which is where I learned to dirt bike. Just recently bought a new (1st for me) street bike, and the skills from dirt help. Very courageous of you to ride such a big bike in the dirt. The smell in the desert in the morning is so refreshing. One time dirt riding (late 70's early 80's), east of Palmdale CA, where we had been riding for years, a helicopter had blasted at us on PA that we had to move and was a restricted area (south of Edwards Air Force Base). We had seen previously flying around this huge plane, it was actually the space shuttle. Be safe and look forward to more videos.
Hello Lali...! Just signed on after you appearing in and being mentioned by Doodle who I've followed for some time. Look forward to the journey here as well now.👍 Cheers from 🇦🇺
I started riding dirt bikes. What i learned riding them has saved me a lot when i started riding street bikes.specially when i got the Kawasaki zx 1400 se. That thing was stupid fast!!!! Glad you had a great time...
Hi Lali, this is a great video showing what it's really like to take on an adventure course in a desert. You may be small in stature, but you have amazing mental capabilities to overcome the terrain and the heat while full geared up, and you give great advice to anyone considering this type of adventure.
Please do not take this as an old man hitting on you or that my comments are about your physical appearance. Young Lady you are a beautiful human, my 4'12" daughter and I love you and your video. My eldest daughter rides her Low Rider HD after I chopped an inch out of it. We admire you and your fortitude to take on the Pan American course and challenge. Kudos to you for being willing to learn. At 856 years of age adventure riding is not in my future, I'll stick with my HD RoadKing and Honda Goldwings. Thank You for passing on what you learned and the true nature of riding motorcycles- we all fall eventually. You are in my prayers Hoka Hey
Good evening in Japan 😁 I watch it before going to bed, this time it's a difficult challenge with a motorcycle, I'm always looking forward to it ♪ I can do my best tomorrow 😊 Thank you 😊
Congrats, well done! That's a monster of a bike to start out on. Another reason for standing is to let your knees flex and absorb bumps along with the bike so you aren't getting constantly kicked in the butt!
Awesome video Lali and mad props for getting on such a heavy (and tall) bike in/ON THE DESERT!!!👍 We just weighed my friend's ZX14R w/Turbo (510 Lb. at World Finals race this past weekend) and even though it's lowered for drag racing (you would easily sit flat footed on it👌) it still needs to be "respected" when pushing/moving from the side vs sitting/straddled...
Yo Lali, You did awesome at Zakar. I watched Her 2 Wheels and Shadetree's videos . I grew up riding in the dirt and even with my experience a 559 pound Motorsickle Off road is a workout. I had a good laugh when you said Highway to Hell that is the ringtone on my phone. You Meet the Nicest People on a Honda Valkyrie. Keep the Shiny Side Up.
Very late responding to this video as I only recently found you, but I thought you looked great out there! Very natural and comfortable, for what it's worth!
Yes. Absolutely keep your eyes down the road or horizon ( like you said) always and don't fixate on thing when you are riding. Get yourself a camel back too. Don't zip up your jacket all the way if it has snaps? You'll stay cooler. I use gold bond medicated foot powder to keep my feet cracking. If you attempt to go all day. Lol. Awesome video. 💪
The outro with Shadetree was hilarious! Great job on the new riding experience and Congrats on your channel. Ps… I also sing to myself when I ride and find it very calming.
Ha ha that's so funny cause when I start to get stressed at work I start singing rock tunes in my head sometimes out loud. I drive a forklift (like a maniac) btw.
Thx for the new content! Looked fun... I am an adv rider but I normally just ride street with my adv. Idk not enough time I guess. I love the look of the bikes and the ergonomics.
Man the mental exhaustion thing is legit. I'm a newer rider and I did my first bigger ride (curvy roads, highways, the whole bit, was a blast!) this weekend and when my buddy and I were coming back into town he said, he was tired and going home to take a nap. I felt perfectly fine. Until I got into my apartment and sat on the couch, then I almost passed out. The ride had been really scary at times (first time cruising on a highway, going down hill on a windy road with no runoff?) and while I was physically fine I was mentally completely gone. Just chilled the rest of the day.
I wear a compression shirt everyday and use a T shirt made with synthetic materials for those long day in the saddle days. On long trips I shower as soon as I get to the hotel, wash my compression shirt, t shirt, shorts, underwear and socks, and by the morning they are usually dry. I take two sets so I have a fresh set for the morning. But yeah, the funk is real.
MotoJitsu, went to the Honda Navi Event and meet a MotoVlogging Friend of mine, but he didn't realize it. I predict you'll meet him on day in the future, as he has a growing Channel. May I recommend 1 MotoVid for you to watch.? Do you maybe have the time Sis.? (smiles)
First - thanks Harley Davidson for (1) building a competent ADV and (2) Picking non-harley riders to showcase a new HD direction. Also, wow Lali, amazed at your bravery! You risked life and limb! (hanging out with Shadetree and letting him pick you up 😂). Also good to see you rise to the riding challenge! 👍
Fantastic video Lali, and Duchess as well 🥰🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ squad. Hope you get more chances of these trips out it looks like it really helps you and confidence too 🤗 excellent job 🤠
Always have been a fan of your channel glad to see you got a chance to Adv ride and especially appreciate the advice to pre-medicate with anti-inflammatory medication i too went flying off my Honda Crf 250 Rally and layer on the ground awhile until I realized only thing hurt was my pride Lol. I did go to Harley Davidson to look at the new Pan American and its a beautiful bike but until I decide I’m waiting to see the new Ducati Adv bike coming in December, maybe you can review it supposed to be getting a lot of attention. Please keep your awesome videos coming i enjoy watching and ride safe and peace out.
awesome video! when i was a newer rider, riding one of my dads cherry harleys, i was scared riding over the san mateo bridge in the california bay area. i started singing "blue hwy" by billy idol. totally eased my mind and relaxed me!
Way to go Lali! I am proud of you for doing it and hyping yourself up when it got tough. You'll find as you progress in the ADV world that the community is incredibly supportive. Get back out here and I'll take you on a killer loop now that you have the intro chops.
You did good girl... That bike is not a first time ADV bike for sure and you made it. I do both ADV and street riding and love both. I think you'd really like that Versy 300 you mentioned, especially coming from street riding. I enjoyed the video, if you have more, post it when you can...
Great content and information about 1st time riding a adv bike! Well done for overcoming so many obstacles too! Great tips on how to handle a bike if it's bigger than you and what you can expect. Stay up and keep moving forward! Laters..
Yes, singing definitely helps. When I was practicing for my slow speed maneuvers exam (Europe), I also found that singing in my helmet takes the pressure away.
body cleaning wipes, there are all sorts these days. You can even get ones that do decently on hair, though that's more useful for folks like me than you. Obviously if you're doing a one day session, no big deal unless you want to wipe down a bit at lunch. But for multi-day trips they're a great thing to add to your gear. Fun vid, good info.

Great video! I think the fun is in learning something new. I've never rode a sports bike but I've ridden a cafe racer and now am riding an adventure bike of sorts? LOL so Did Josh (shadetree) find you or the other way around..? Im waiting for his video on the PA.. I just found your channel from Doodle. Enjoyed the video - great tips. Yep I decided to start adventure riding in my 50s on a BMW GSA. I can really relate to the pre medicating..
We met at the RevZilla moto fest in May, we were both invited but I subscribed to his channel before that, I think through Her2Wheels I heard of him, or something like that
TOO MUCH FUN

Adventure bikes are definitely the most versatile. Mine takes me through a rough job site or to Alaska and doesn’t give a SHIT! Hope you get one! ✌️
It's so true, ADV riding is such a mental workout! You did such an awesome job!
Oh yeah for sure! Next time I'm bringing music with me, my own voice just doesn't sound the same 😂

We met at the RevZilla moto fest in May, we were both invited but I subscribed to his channel before that, I think through Her2Wheels I heard of him, or something like that
Love from India ❤️
Hey Lali... new sub.. Great video, I always like to premedicate as well before I ride, recreational 🤣.. 🤙🏼
Quite literally recreational use 🤣
The cinematic from Assassins Creed? ADV riding looks fun
Yep AC footage 😂 Thought it was good to get the point across
That is my buddy, Rob who was training you all! He's awesome, right?
6:06 look at the chain
Congratulations! An fantastic video! You did good! But how did you survive Shadetree?
Whenever you are scared, just watch Itchy boots...adventurer with willpower to go remote and finding peace.
Good tips and well done vid. Now how do I get a cover of you singing hwy to hell? I’d rather hear your voice then mine😜
