    A late comment after an inability to access the inter-web, due to medical reasons - which is another reason that shrimp keeping is quite important to me now.
    Mark, herein demonstrates the reason for my subscribing & joining the 'Family' (the only channel I've taken that extra step for). The value to me is: superb tanks & macro images, demonstration of what does or doesn't work & explained in detail, you don't merely show tanks without showing yourself working. Demonstration of healthy shrimp keeping practices and you don't just show highly successful tanks, you show the down-to-earth reality of caring for shrimp ethically & responsibly. Oh, and we have a similar sense of humor...it's a shame that some people don't possess a true sense of ha-ha - be well, Brad in Canada

    Taking your advice about limiting the time the lights are on. Heatwave and health alert issued here in the UK, so same attention needed for shrimp in our care to keep them cool. Lights on at 7 am and off at 11 am to avoid hottest part of the day. Doing the same for my fish tanks.

    Hi, Mark! Thank you for the videos. You've really helped me along in my shrimp keeping journey. I try and follow all of the advice and everything that I can. My shrimp have seemed healthy and are breeding regularly. Unfortunately, I'm really struggling with baby survival. I've had 4 PRL mommas have babies and after a few days, all of the babies are gone. There's no fish in the tank and all of my parameters seem good or at least within an acceptable range. Do you have any advice on how I can improve my baby survival rate? Anything is an improvement since I'm at 0% so far. Thank you.

    • @MarksShrimpTanks
      @MarksShrimpTanks  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      you should try a tiny amount of powdered food like once a week to build up food for the baby shrimp, by tiny I mean a tiny pinch in say a 40 litter tank.

  • @hmegadeth
    @hmegadeth 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Shrimps look great! Do you still put in powder fish food in between the pellet feedings?

    • @MarksShrimpTanks
      @MarksShrimpTanks  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I still feed neos like normal and the bee shrimp sparingly the off peltet like once a week. noticing and increse in survival of bee shrimp.

  • @Natarii123
    @Natarii123 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Did you purchase any of the tanks second hand? There could be a possibility of medication residue like copper in the silicone that could be a reason for the die-offs that you mentioned?

    • @MarksShrimpTanks
      @MarksShrimpTanks  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      yeah thats possible but all of these tanks have had thriving colonies in them before so I would rule that out. I think it just over feeding leading to ammonia build up and a mini cycle.

    Duck weed is good. you can put it in a blender and make shrimp food, it removes nitrates & grows fast.
    " If harvested out of the water, duckweed can purify water by lowering nitrate and phosphate levels."
