More stories of old sea dogs like this special legend right here need to be told, before they can't tell there legacy,I'm sure there are plenty of them out there, the ocean is huge, ❤️
I remember Wayne as young blokes, long blonde hair back then, great to see he still fishing, not just a Legend, A piece of local history. He used to tow surfers into 2mile waves in his tinny
What a legend. I've driven 6 hours to Port Campbell just to have a cray meal at the local pub several times over the years. Great meal and I hope it was his crays.
One of my fondest memories is visiting Port Campbell, and going out on one of the cray boats that was now instead dedicated to taking tourists out for a closer look as the "Seven' Sisters. It was particularly moving to be sitting in the water, directly above the famous wreck of the Loch Aird.
Great interview , He's got that fuel bill dialled in now , bet he wishes he had that sorted a few years earlier . Good luck and keep safe @WayneHanegraaf for the next few years out there !
So many people get caught up in a cooperate life of following rules and looking for money from good jobs, in other words, society's sheep. Very few people are willing to step out of line and become shepherds, leaders, not followers . And you can tell this is a man who enjoys the life he has and I have nothing but respect for people willing to step that far out of the box that is society looking for a truly good life.
I have put my boat in off the pier at Port Campbell and have done a LOT of diving around that Coast. Done many dives on the shipwreck The Loch Ard and other shipwrecks. Dived the wreck of the Fiji at moonlight heads. It's wild ocean diving but it's some of the best diving I've done and I have dived many places in Australia and the rest of the world.
I want a crane and boat launching combo. That blew my mind having grown up in a massive fishing community with a very similar crane/set-up, I always wondered what that crane was for other than diving practice.
Love your video mate that boat and motor is bloody awsome would love to come out with you guys I have an ex crayboat in sa v23 huntsman 200 hp volvo and 290a sterndrive love cray fishing and fishing shame the industry has fell apart id love to be in your position I feel sorry for fishermen of how the market is but you guys have really kept things going I really admire you 👍
Awesome boat. I'd love to have a small diesel in mine. If mine was straight shaft I would put one in her but its inboard outboard. Instead in going to pull it all out and run two outboards on a bracket.
Actually a very sweepy left that breaks into the pier. Out beyond that and you’re tackling Two Mile... which is a right, lovely won’t be term that comes to mind if you cop one on the head out there!
Nice film. I used to catch crayfish in the canyon pools by my house. They are freshwater crustaceans. This fisherman I'm pretty sure is in the ocean, so those would be lobsters, saltwater dwellers and much larger. Crayfish or crawdads we call them in America are about 4 inches in length and have claws like Maine lobster.
@Danny Sullivan He doesn't fish all year round. There is a closed season, plus the fishery is based on quotas. It may only take 4-5 months to fill his annual quota.
Great story.....legend!
who else wanted more of his story

Nice storey, great boat, but must be the only commercial fisherman that likes a green anchor though, bloody expensive for parts.
Grabs his long board and rides that lovely righthander off his pier...
Actually a very sweepy left that breaks into the pier. Out beyond that and you’re tackling Two Mile... which is a right, lovely won’t be term that comes to mind if you cop one on the head out there!

I need a job like this
