This movie came out in 2001. Now, it’s not like everyone constantly carried batteries back then, but it is true that a lot of portable electronics ran on batteries before the smartphone revolution. If you had a Walkman or a Discman, those ran on AAs. If you had a PDA, those ran on batteries or could be recharged from batteries if you were away from a wall socket. People used to sell batteries on the NY Subway. So it’s not as far fetched as you think.
@@vidurbutalia2130 I agree, I remember having some batteries with me for handhelds, wireless mouse for my laptop, ect. Always used to have at least 4 AAA and AA in my backpack.
I'm pretty sure you don't fit one capable of knocking out a city power grid in the back of a van, either. Also, nuclear or no, most of them function by exploding, and aren't filled with Gatorade.
The gems that Saul gave to Terry where the explosives that they had to set off on the inside due to the locking pins being open on that side. The things that Danny and rusty put on the out side where probably some kind of ultra sonic detonators or something.
They needed to blow the doors from both directions at same time to destroy the pins. The safe door was designed to withstand explosions from the outside, but was not as heavily reinforced inside. Blowing up from both directions destroyed the safety pins.
@@X2yt Sure that part I understand, but why just before there is a alarm inside vault with lasers on bottom (that why guy jumps with backfilp), and its hard to belive that blasting doors disable alarm in same time. I mean is just a Movie and I love this one, but this was always one thing that was strange for me,
@@morzuchstudio8182 Once you blast the doors, the alarm is irrelevant. Part of their plan was the extortion threat, and so they knew they weren't going to get away without setting off ANY alarms or issues. They just had to get access to the vault before an elevator full of guys with large guns is in their face.
It’s a fictional world where pacemakers weren’t approved for public use yet. Probably still a lot of deaths from car crashes from all the lights suddenly going out

Bit of plot hole i just noticed. When Yen is getting out of the box he catches the case by the handcuff to stop it from hitting the sensor. But once the charges are set on the door they don't do anything about the sensors and just blow the door. Shouldn't all the debri have set off the alarm?
Because EMP would've knocked everything out in Bank's casino. They not only wanted to steal his money, they wanted to bankrupt him. So they specifically had to turn off only the Greco, and not anything else.
$14.5M per man but you’re taking on so much risk. Then you have to launder the money. So many things could go wrong. And the casino owner will destroy you and everyone you know. Not worth it lol. Fun movie though.
Okay, so I get that a blackout in the casino would cause a riot since people would exploit this weakness in security to grab the money, but why did the boxers and the audience loose their shit there?

god i love movies on actual film. no matter the resolution, this film looks amazingly.
quantitatively false
agree
I never even questioned it when I saw this decades ago, but there is no chance in hell Linus is just carrying a pack of batteries in his pocket.
He prob swapped batteries earlier so that he can look cool.
He was probably paying attention when Basher was explaining the function of the pinch and brought some just in case

A real EMP would permanently knock out the power
A real EMP that close to Basher would've fried his nervous system.

I never thought about of there was a massive power putags in vegas there would be a brawl for the chips.
I never understood one thing, why they need guy inside vault, jumping over alarm, then they blow doors, if that dosent turn alarm on?
Maybe once the doors are open regardless of explosion, the floor censors auto shut off

Saved by a pair of dead batteries.
90s/early 00's movies loved their CGI lasers.
We gotta talk about how he probably killed. At minimum, a hundred people with that emp, because anyone with a pacemaker drops dead

@vincentchang0093 gambling is the last exciting thing old fucks have
Even as a kid i knew this part was bs. An EMP is a death sentence to all electronic devices in the area, not a sedative.

@gigaus0 and what's protected in las Vegas from an EMP?

Too much parts of the movie are bs, that's why they call it "art of entertainment"

I wonder what this movie would be like if they used standard motion and opening sensors instead of all this.
