And that's why he's not only good at it, but loving it in the process
Air drumming and beating/tapping on things other than drums is usually something that fades as you get better (and older). Professionalism sets in after about 10 years of consistent playing. It looks and sounds kinda corny at that point. When I was in High School, us new drumline guys pounded on everything, including ourselves. However, I never saw any of my drum teachers randomly air drumming or banging on anything that wasn't a drum

The thing that gets me about this drum cover in particular isn't how powerful it is, nor is it how groovy it is, nor is it Cobus' facial expressions or how in time it is. I've sort of come to expect that from Cobus, he's that talented you just know he will produce a masterpiece every time and have an absolute blast while doing so... The thing that gets me though is the transitions. The way Cobus can build up to the chorus, turn it into a huge crazy eargasm that has everyone rocking out, and then as soon as the verse starts again he's back into the groove on a dime. Just phenomenal. Cobus, I salute you!

It blows my mind the dislikes and some comments. When playing it’s all about taste and what you need to put where. Not sure I’ve seen a drummer that does cover that approaches it like that especially with you talent. Seen a comment where they thought you were pushing to much. I didn’t think it one time in this. Maybe cause I know your talent and know you can put a lick anywhere you want when you want. The placement was killer. It was as if Otto was pumping for a show and added shit. People are spoiled or don’t know what it is to think further into playing. It’s more than just playing what you hear. When you play what you hear you get creative to replicate that sound but use the tones to make you think it’s the original.
