Sadly, most of the time when we try to return items without a receipt, the stores will only give back the lowest most recent price. For example, I bought the item as a Christmas gift for $25, but it went on sale after that for $12.50. Well, guess what? Without the receipt, the store was willing to refund only the $12.50. I understand they're just trying to protect themselves from people who would otherwise take advantage of them. Still, it's a shame when you honestly know that you know that you paid a higher amount to start with.
