Nobody milks a guitar solo like David Gilmour. Saw this tour at the Hollywood Bowl and it was magic. If he tours again I'll be there. And you should too !!

Dave Gilmour and Brian May both have such a distinctive 'guitar' voice... You know them EVERY SINGLE TIME you hear them. Their guitars both 'sing' AND 'weep'...

This was truly an historic event. Prior to the two nights that Gilmour played in the amphitheater at Pompeii in 2015, there had not been a performance for an audience since 79 AD. Mount Vesuvius temporarily interrupted live events there for nearly two millennia.
I have said for decades you dont just listen to David Gilmore, you experience him his guitar is an extension of his soul. I have had the privilege of seeing David with and without the rest of pink floyd on two ocations and as a amiture guitar player it was a whole emotional experience i haven had since .

One hell of a ending guitar solo. I've never heard a guitar scream before, at least on the album.
That was the first time I've ever seen David smiling while playing... and I've seen many of his concerts, with and without PF.

I saw him in Germany 2 times and when he’s splaying the first tune there are goosebumps that won’t leave you until hours after the concert. absolutely unique! so I agree 100% with your comment!

This is the first music reaction I've ever seen to a song I didn't already know--thank you for doing more than just the 'big classic' titles... I love Gilmour, but I only know a little of his solo work, so I really REALLY enjoyed this!
I remember as a kid hearing Paul McCartney's song "No More Lonely Nights" and swearing that was David Gilmour on guitar but this was pre-internet and I'd only heard it on the radio, but his 'tone' and style are unmistakable!!! It's a lovely song (not groundbreaking or anything) but you should check it out (with or without a video reaction) just to listen and see if you can 'hear' it as him if you didn't already know... It's just a fun way to test your own ears :)
This chord progression is identical in places to the "Keep Talking" song from Pink Floyd's Division Bell album (which is an EXCELLENT song that you might really like) :)

I was at that concert and what an amazing show it was! It was my GF’s first time experiencing his solo material. She was moved to tears quite a few times during the show.

Wow! What a powerful song. I've come to expect greatness from anything David Gilmour does. Nobody plays guitar like David Gilmour. You should check out his album ON AN ISLAND, beautiful Floyd-sounding music. With apologies to Roger Waters, David IS the sound of Pink Floyd in my opinion.

David Gilmour. I am so glad I got to see him on 3 solo tours including About Face, On an Island and Rattle that Lock. I saw The Wall in 1980 too. Its wonderful to see you groove to it too.
Not too bad for almost a 80 year old man. Love the block strap with the guitar strap that belong to Jimi Hendrix. He definitely likes playing to the people's emotions and you're right he's a very special musician the dude auctioned off all of his guitars and give it to charity hundreds of millions of dollars. There is nothing negative you can say about this guy. I hope someday he does some solo work and put it together in an album I don't think people realize just how hard it is just didn't play a guitar 4 hours like he does I try it for about an hour and I'm exhausted especially my left hand but something nice and gentle on a 12-string with his voice would be fantastic you should check out him singing Shakespeare on his recording studio boat
This is an anti-war song, obviously. Great as usual. Outstanding background singers. Please also check out his song "On An Island" (w/David Crosby and Graham Nash singing background). It's beautiful.

This is why I wish so much Pink Floyd would have filmed their concerts for their "Dark Side of the Moon" tour in 1973 & 74 and their "In the Flesh" tour in 77 of which I saw both!! Both shows were Beyond description phenomenal emotional, incredible lights, movies everything that they do in their later concerts but with Rodger Waters the original lineup post Syd Barrett!

Well, I would say this music is both sublime and transcendent. And yeah, a masterpiece. The more music you listen to, the more selective you are becoming with the word masterpiece. You don’t need a new word for this music, it’s just that you now know better what to apply the word to. And it’s music line this
Check out "A Great day for freedom, live at Gdansk" One of David's top 10 solos in my opinion. This live version of in any tongue is also in my top 10.
