Those Roman coins are so well preserved in that crumbly soil - I'm sure the right type of soil and it's acidity level makes a huge difference to how the coins pop out - crackingly good vid Alex 👍

@HolzHammerSagas yes ,well thanks ,my favourite was a passion for angling Bob james and Chris Yates it just captured the magic off the unknown the expectations and failures that keeps you going back a trying the hope off that monster carp or that wild trout, perhaps that what I love about metal detecting you never know what you might find the hope of gold but the reality of ring pulls 😅👍🏻

Lovely half crown at the end, presumably a love token worn on a chain or string. The random depth of finds compared to their age surely means that land has been ploughed in the past?

What an interesting little buckle Alexander? I can see why at first glance it looks like a modern zipper pull.

That was a great hunt. All sorts of good things popped up. That was quite a few Romans. North Wales is the more flatter part, isn't it?
Not really Cyndye - quite rolling and on the edge of Snowdonia which is quite steep... for the UK anyway1 😁 Its terribly pretty and lots of livestock and not so much arable - my son and I both suffer badly from Hayfever and its very sneezy up here!
Hmmm, okay, I have only seen pictures of Anglesey so I guess that is where I get the idea. I know Snowdonia is amazine. Need to look at a map of Wales again. I suffer from Cedar Fever. Which is not really cedar but wild juniper. Just found out about some grasses. Luckily I should be getting shots for the cedar and molds this month.
Lovely stuff as ever Alex, and more than 'lively' enuff my friend... 😉 I love those Romans - it fascinates (and even confuses) me how 'robust' they seem to be in terms of holding detail, (especially compared to a lot of our own toadsted pre-decimals eh? 😱). D'you think it's down to them being physically more *chunky?* or were the Romans perhaps superior in the old metallurgy department?... Really interested to know your take on this matey... I'm not sure Bobby, and as you know they can often come up as badly as any other coin... its the really modern ones I feel sorry for - even a penny or a pound coin in the ground for a decade or two can look awful sometimes!!! Hope all well and All the Best, Alexander

Hey Alexander. Fab finds as per, i wonder if you would share your Deus 1 settings on pasture and (if you change them) on ploughed/arable. Thanks for the upload, Jel.
Will do Jel - I sometimes put them up but often forget! I generally use the Hot programme on pasture, wit Reactivity lowered to 2.5 and I keep the same settings on Arable as I like the audio it gives thoughI probably don't need the extra depth the lower reactivity might give - I find reactivity 2 a bit weak on signals esp. as I am only using my ears (no remote with the Deus Lite) Hope that helps and All the Best, Alexander

yes its a shed for animals - a lot of big iron round it... difficult to detect and not too exciting I wouldnt have thought but its a nice idea Tim! All good here... looking after the boy again for a good stint which is nice but tiring! All the Best!

Another brilliant video Alex a veritable cornucopia of Roman bronze .Am very interested in your settings and the type of signals that you dig .Is it the hot programme big standard with reactivity dropped to 2.5.?and dig anything with a weak upward kick?.Anyway it works for you Great viewing .
Thats basically al it is - it may not be the most effective but I have been using it that way for so long I think I can read those tiny squeaks quite well - if I ramp up sensitivity and audio response etc. then I thinkI will be got by more iron etc. I like it just the way it is! Hi there Randy and thanks for watching! I think we probably shouldn't rub silver straight out of the ground but its hard not to ... I just want to see what it looks like as quickly as possible!!! And my thoughts are that if it had been tumbled around for sometimes over 2000 years in the case of Republican Roman coins and some Celtic units, then a little bit of mud probably wont do it too much harm... I feel people are being a bit precious when I get told " you shouldn't do that!" Anyway, Hope all well and thank you for watching! All the Best, Alexander

Hi holz I've been watching your TH-cam video and love your machine my partner has kindly bought me 1 as a pressy can you advise me on what settings you you use please on the deus fast programme, it's a deus lite with a 11 x 35 coil thanks in advance roberta I'm in Cornwall.
Hi Roberta and sorry for not getting back sooner... My main advice is stick it in one of the factory presets - don't change a thing or tinker at all - just use fast or general and get to learn what the sounds tell you by digging everything... by the way it sounds you can tell a lot too not just by the pitch... "fuzzy" soft sounds are often thin foil or coke and the more clipped sounds tend to be coins and ringpulls! the sooner you learn these sounds the better - then switch to the HOT programme - Number 9, and learn the sounds that gives you - you will have all the information you need as it runs on full tones and you will clearly be able to hear the iron too - so you can avoid it - good luck and All the Best, Alexander
Nice Romans Alex. That first big lump has to be a sestertius, doesn’t it! I didn’t know you could get four asses for a dupondius! Seems good value for our American cousins 😂
Its the size of a sestertius Wayne but it is very uniform - I have tried to clean it and it is also very flat on both sides; a sestertius would definitely be more raised even when very worn... We are supposed to split equally with the landowners but sometimes I am the landowner too in a roundabout way... I tend to give things over which might mean something to the landowner - they look horrified sometimes when they see me enthusing over a grotty roman coin or hammered with not much detail on it! 😂 Hope all well Robbie!
